Tina Whiston - Human Resources Coordinator, Elior People Services

Since completing her studies at the College in July 2018, Tina progressed to become HR Coordinator at Elior, based in Macclesfield, and is really getting to grips with the employeeadvisor role, which she is loving. “I can remember having my interview at College in March2016, prior to beginning my Level 3 CIPD, feeling very nervous, going back in to the class-room at 50,” says Tina. “I so enjoyed that year of learning and was keen to complete Level 5CIPD the following year. This was even more of a challenge, but I felt that doing my Level 3first gave me a really good foundation for that next level.”

Sharon Galley - Practising Counsellor

Since completing her course at the College, Sharon Galley is now a practising Counsellor.“Having completed the Level 2 and 3 Counselling courses, I was eager to achieve my Level 4 Diploma which would enable me to become a qualified Counsellor,” says Sharon. “My tutor was excellent, and the combination of working with him and Senior Management at the College taught me a lot personally in the process. I have been practising as a Counsellorfor just over eighteen months now and love my job. I have now returned to the College totrain as a counselling tutor.”

We’re very well connected!

Here at Macclesfield College, we have excellent transport links with surroundingareas, providing safe and efficient travel for all of our adult learners.

By bus!

There are a number of public bus services that our adult learners can use. The nearest stop is on Park Lane, approximately a 2 minute walk from Macclesfield College’s main campus.

Please note that the College doesn’t offer a subsidised bus service for adult learners.

By car!

If you planning to visit us or travel to attend one of our adult courses by car, then we are situated on Park Lane (A536) justoutside Macclesfield Town Centre.

Our campus lies approximately 13 miles north of Leek, 11 mileswest of Buxton, 9 miles east of Wilmslow and 7 miles south ofPoynton. We also benefit from ample parking on site, which is barrier controlled. This provides a safe space for our adult learners to park either during the day, or in the evening.

By train!

Macclesfield Train Station is the nearest train station to the College campus and is situated inthe town centre.

Distance from the station to College: 7 minute drive, 22 minute walk, 9 minute bus journey (running every 15 minutes from Macclesfield Bus Station, which is a 3 minute walk from the train station).

Direct train lines run from Poynton, Adlington, Cheadle, Bramhall, Stockport and Congleton.

The new ‘Brows by Sarah’ academy at Macclesfield College is a VTCT (Vocational Training and Charitable Trust) approved course that provides the perfect introduction to permanent make-up and eyebrows.

Fully accredited by ABT (Associated Beauty Therapists), this trailblazing course will be tutoredby Sarah who is also an approved VTCT course provider. Recruiting now and available from January 2020 onwards, it will consist of 4 days - 2 days theory and 2 days practical where youwill work under expert supervision.

During your time at the ‘Brows by Sarah’ academy - which will operate from the College’s ownultra-modern treatment room featuring 16 fully-equipped beauty beds - you will learn all youneed to know about a career in permanent make-up, including natural-looking ombré, hairstroke and combination techniques.

There is no previous experience necessary, and you don’t need a prior beauty qualification.

The Equipment

Goldeneye Digital Machines are used to apply the permanent make-up - a process which is virtually pain-free, long-lasting and less invasive than microblading. Following your enrolment on the course, you will gain extensive experience of using these machines, as well as a range of non-fade Li pigments. “The Goldeneye machine gently pricks the skin,” explains Sarah, “and the pigment is then simply air-brushed into the top layers, and this typically lasts between 1 and a half to three years.”
