Adrian College students not only attended
the MAHPERD Convention in November,
but a group of four Adrian College Teacher
Education students won the MAHPERD
Cup at the Annual Convention. The winning
team was comprised of Chris Primley, Dan-
ny Taylor, Elizabeth Szymanski, and Craig
Steadman (pictured L-R). Although Adrian
College students have attended past
MAHPERD Conventions, this was the first
time Adrian College students competed for
the MAHPERD Cup. Congratulations to
these students!
Kappa Delta Pi
The Lambda Upsilon
chapter of Kappa Delta
Pi, an International
Honor Society in Edu-
cation, initiated twelve
new members this past
December. This honor
society is available to
students pursuing a de-
gree in education.
Their adviser, Michelle
Hiscock, Assistant Pro-
fessor in the Teacher
Education department
and Brittanie Kuhr, the
current chapter presi-
dent, have worked to-
gether to restructure
Kappa Delta Pi and
bring it back to the
Adrian Campus. Their
goal this semester is to
help foster excellence
in education and pro-
mote fellowship among
students within the
Teacher Education de-
partment.

Your child will experience a week of researched based, inquiry science cur-
riculum and instruction.
Included in this price, each child will receive: all materials, supplies, daily
snacks and beverage, camp t-shirt, certificate of completion, and a camp

The Institute for Educa-
tion and the Teacher Edu-
cation Department spon-
sored the “New Alumni
Night” on Wednesday,
February 6. Recent grad-
uates of Adrian College in
Teacher Education com-
prised a panel of speakers
that spoke to current
Adrian College students.
The panel shared their
post-graduate experiences
as they transitioned into
the workforce. Recent
graduates on the panel,
pictured left to right were:
Andy Ford, Brian Bain,
Pete Konieczki, Lindsey
Day and Anne Hersman.
The alumni panel all had
different experiences post-
graduation which gave
our current students
great perspective. After

Group Meeting There is an applicant meeting for PESG to accept substitute teaching applications. PESG is a
company that supplies guest teachers to a large number of Michigan school districts. The ses-
sion is open only to current Adrian College TED students and will be held on Friday, April 5 in
Valade Hall from 11:00am-1:00pm. Completing this session will allow students to be eligible
to substitute teach for their mentor teacher and substitute teach beyond their internship. Please
see Mary Betzoldt for more information.

Zac Zeka and Josh Ranalli in the health education minor
actively participate in classroom strategies to learn the
functional knowledge and skills that affect behavioral
change.
D’ante Thompson in our health education minor gains
valuable teaching experience at Adrian Middle School as he
teaches health education classes about nutrition and tobacco
use.
Andrew Miller, Hilary Hannigan, Carrie Kruger, and
Julianna Whiteman in the capstone class, 471 Social Foun-
dations in Teacher Education role played in a group ac-
tivity to design a homework policy for a fictional school
district.
Assistant Professor Al Craven was selected by the Le-
nawee Substance Abuse Coalition to attend “The
American Athletic Institute’s Life of an Athlete” train-
ing at the United States Olympic Training Center in
Lake Placid, New York from December 6-9. April
Demers from Monroe County and Jeff Thompson from
Onsted Schools were also selected to attend. Both Al
and Jeff will conduct in-service training for local high
school and college athletes.
