The e n v i r o n m e n tand our r e a c t i o n s to i t are c h a n g i n g a l l t h e t im e, and m u c ho f w h a t we do canno t w e l l b e r e l a t e d t o any one sensorys t i m u l u s , b u t i t i s a c o n v e n i e n t s i m p l i f i c a t i o n to t h i n k o f ap a r t i c u l a r pattern o f receptor s t i m u l a t i o n a s t h e cause o fa p a r t i c u l a r pattern o f r e s p o n se, an d I make no a p o l o g yf o r d o i n g s o . A d m i t , t h e n , t h a t t h e s t im u l a t io n o f c e r t a i nreceptors w i l l produce a p a r t i c u l a r sequence o f movementand t h e s t i m u l a t i o n o f o t h e r s w i l l produce a d i f f e r e n tsequence.
