Film Reviews with Ange Dean

Angry BirdsExciting, full of flair and dazzling colour, this lovely animation

of Angry Birds will mesmerise audiences with flightless birds that fly straight into your heart and keep you smiling for days.

This delightful movie is directed by Clay Kaytis (director of Frozen) and Fergal Reilly (of Spider Man 2) and is script written by Jon Vitti (famous for The Simpsons).

Why are the Birds so angry?

On a peaceful island, the birds live happily. Outsider bird, Red (voiced by Jason Sudekis), is the only angry bird on the island. He was even forced into an anger management class led by Matilda (Maya Rudolph). Matilda believes in New Age methods, so be prepared for some hilarious moments.

One day, a group of mysterious green pigs arrive unannounced there’s a growing sense of suspicion that the pigs are up to something sinister. The leader of the green pigs is Leonard (voiced by Bill Hader) and his plan is soon uncovered. The pigs have arrived to disrupt and plunder the island. Mayhem follows.

It has slapstick humour, new and funny one-liners and brilliant graphics and, oh, the colours are stunning. There are laughs and feathers everywhere. I suggest if parents want a good laugh, to share a cheerful family fun time - grab your kids, a box of popcorn and head for Angry Birds.

I’m giving it 4.5 stars.
