    Exploring the Interface A) Menu bar: Photoshop contains 9menus: File, Edit, Image, Layer,Select, Filter, View, Window & Help

    B) Options bar: The Option bar allowsyou to set options for the tool thatyou are currently using

    Interface C) Toolbox: The Toolbox contains tools that youlluse to work with images.

    D) Active Image Area: This window shows thecurrent image. The window title bar includes thefilename, view magnification, layer name, imagemode and bit depth

    E) Status Bar: The Status bar shows themagnification of the image and its size

    Interface F) Palettes: Palettes set options for tools and images.Related palettes appear together in the same group

    G) Palette Well: The Palette Well stores frequently used

    palettes so that you can use the workspace moreefficiently. Initially, Brushes, Tool Presets, and Layer Compare included in the Palette Well.

    H) Minimize, Maximize & Close: To minimize, maximize andclose the Photoshop

    The Toolbox A) Marquee Tools Rectangular Marquee Tool: Makes a rectangular or

    square selection.

    Elliptical Marquee Tool: Makes an elliptical or circularselection.

    Single Row Marquee Tool: Makes a horizontal selection 1pixel in height

    Single Column Marquee Tool: Makes a vertical selection 1pixel in width

    Toolbox B) Move Tool If you have made a selection, this tool

    will move the current selection. Alsoused for moving layers and guides.

    Toolbox C) Lasso Tools Lasso Tool: Makes a selection by drawing

    freehand lines.

    Polygonal Lasso Tool: Creates a polygonalselection by drawing connected straight lines.

    Magnetic Lasso Tool: Automatically traces

    edges to select specific shapes within agraphic.

    Toolbox D) Magic Wand Tool: Select colors that are similar to

    whatever color the tool is clicked on (inthe image). The size of the selection isdetermined by the Tolerance value inthe Option bar.

    Toolbox G) Correction Tools Spot Healing Brush Tool: Corrects small imperfections in an

    image

    Healing Brush Tool: Removes imperfections by blending areas

    and matching textures, lighting, transparency and shading

    Patch Tool: allows you to choose a patch to cover imperfections

    Red Eye Tool: Remove red eye from photo. Removes lightreflections

    using the foreground color

    Pencil Tool: Paints hard edged lines usingforeground color

    Color Replacement Tool: Changes a selectedcolor to a new color

    Background Eraser: Erase the background colorfrom a layer without affecting the foreground.

    Magic Eraser Tool: Erases color similar to theclicked color.

    Gradient Tool: Fills using a colorgradient.

    Paint Bucket Tool: Fill with foregroundcolor or pattern.
