Adobe® InDesign Creating a PDF Creating a PDF 1. Open your InDesign document and select File > Export. Before Creating A PDF InDesign will automatically embed fonts when making a PDF. If restricted fonts, such as yearbook fonts (AYT, AHJ, AWPC fonts) have been used, those fonts will be replaced with Adobe fonts. A warning will appear when you attempt to export to a PDF if fonts have been used that can not be embedded. We suggest avoiding using yearbook fonts if you are going to submit a PDF document. When submitting a PDF, all images must be: - In GRAYSCALE mode. - Anything that is to be printed in spot color, will need to be designated using Cyan. We will replace the color Cyan with the spot color for the month. The color Cyan is the only color that should be used in your document. For instructions on how to set up images and using spot color, please read our TechKnow Lessons: Working with Images and Working with Spot Color. 2. From the Save As Type drop down menu select Adobe PDF. 3. Choose where you want to save the PDF by going to the Save In pull down menu at the top of the screen. Click Save. Creating a PDF1. Open your InDesign document and select File > Export.

Before Creating A PDF InDesign will automatically embed fonts when making a PDF. 4. At the top of the screen, make sure the Preset is set to Press, as shown in image 4a. On the left hand side of the screen, click Marks & Bleeds. The marks and bleeds section should look like image 4b. In the section labeled Marks, make sure that nothing is checked.In the advanced section, be sure that CMYK is chosen as your color as shown in image 4c.

5. Click Export and InDesign will create a PDF of your InDesign document and save it to the place that you specifi ed in step 2.
