What version(s) of Adobe Flash Player am I using?
A. My computer is running the Windows Operating System
Step 1 Launch the Start Menu by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard (see image below). If you are
using Windows 7, the classic Start Menu (see image below) will appear. For Windows 8.x, you will see
the Metro graphical user interface (see image below).

Step 2 Type “control panel”. As you type, “control panel” will appear in the list of search results. Click on that
option or finish typing “control panel” and press the Enter key.

Step 3 Change the “View by” setting to “Large icons”.
Find the “Flash Player” icon and double-click it.
Step 4 Select the Updates tab.
Make note of the ActiveX, NPAPI and PPAPI Plug-in versions.
ActiveX version: Used by Internet Explorer
NPAPI Plug-in version: Used by Firefox, Safari and other NPAPI-based browsers
PPAPI Plug-in version: Used by Google Chrome, Chromium, Opera and other PPAPI-based browsers
Note: Adobe Flash Player is directly integrated with Google Chrome and
enabled by default. Available updates for Adobe Flash Player are
automatically included in Chrome system updates.

Note:
• As of July 16, 2015, the latest version of Adobe Flash Player for Windows OS is 18.0.0.209.
• If the ActiveX version is 18.0.0.203 or earlier, you will need to update the Adobe Flash Player used
by Internet Explorer.
• If the NPAPI Plug-in version is 18.0.0.203 or earlier, you will need to update the Adobe Flash Player
used by Firefox, Safari and other NPAPI-based browsers.
• If a Plug-in has not been installed, e.g. PPAPI Plug-in, updates are not required for that Plug-in.

Step 1 Open “System Preferences”.
Step 2 Double-click “Flash Player”.
Step 3 Select the Updates tab.
Make note of the NPAPI and PPAPI Plug-in versions.

How do I update Adobe Flash Player?
A. My computer is running the Windows Operating System and I need to update Adobe Flash
Player used by Internet Explorer (ActiveX)
Step 1 Repeat steps from the “How to check which version(s) of the Adobe Flash Player is running on your
computer – Windows” section.
Click “Check Now”.
Step 2 Click on the “Player Download Center” link.

Step 3 Uncheck both “Optional offers”.
Click “Install now” to continue.
Step 4 Click Run to continue.

Step 5 Click Yes when prompted to allow Adobe Flash Player to make changes to your computer. You may be
prompted to close Internet Explorer and other applications before the installation can continue.
Step 6 Click Finish when the installation has completed.
Step 7 Repeat steps from the “What version(s) of Adobe Flash Player am I using? A. My computer is running
the Windows Operating System” section to confirm that this version of the Adobe Flash Player has been
updated.

B. My computer is running the Windows Operating System and I need to update Adobe Flash
Player used by Firefox, Safari and other NPAPI-based browsers
Note: This update will be installed via Firefox.
Step 1 Start Firefox.
Step 2 Click on “Open Menu” | Add-on.
Step 3 Click “Check to see if your plugins are up to date”

Step 5 Un-check the “Optional offer” to install the McAfee Security Scan Plus utility.
Click “Install now”.
Step 6 Click the Download button.
Click on the downloaded installation file.
Step 7 Click Yes when asked to allow the Adobe Flash Player installation file to make changes to your computer.
Step 8 Click Finish and restart your computer if prompted.

C. My computer is running the Mac Operating System and I need to update Adobe Flash Player
used by Firefox, Safari and other NPAPI-based browsers
Step 1 Repeat steps from the “How to check which version(s) of the Adobe Flash Player is running on your
computer – Mac” section.
Step 2 Click “Check Now”
Step 3 Click Yes to download and install the available update.
Step 4 Click Install.
Step 5 Acknowledge the License Agreement.
Click Install.

Step 6 Type your local credentials.
Click OK to continue.
Step 7 Click Done.
