Slide 5 - Enhancements Overview

Slide notesIn this release, we are introducing several new features to enhance your reporting capabilities.

First, you can now analyze project performance using Oracle Smart View for Office. Smart View is a common Microsoft Office interface for Oracle Hyperion Essbase and provides robust and flexible reporting capabilities.

Next, a new subject area is available in Oracle Transaction Business Intelligence (or OTBI) for capital projects. This subject area covers all aspects of capital projects, including expenditures, asset lines, and asset capitalization. This information is available in real time, so the information is always up to date and accurate.

Finally, we’ve enhanced our project costing subject area so you can report on expenditures by project contract, and we’ve enhanced our invoice and revenue subject areas so you can report on billing events.

Slide 6 - Analyze Project Performance Using Oracle Smart View for Office

Slide notesUsing Oracle Smart View for Office, you can analyze planned and actual costs by project, task, resource, and period.

Since the data is stored in Oracle Hyperion Essbase, you can easily slice and dice the data and drill down to lower levels of detail as needed. Project accountants who are familiar with Microsoft products and with Oracle Hyperion Essbase will welcome the additional flexibility to perform ad hoc or free-form analysis and to investigate and understand complex data.

Smart View also allows you to view, import, manipulate, distribute, and share project data using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Slide 7 - Analyze Capital Assets Using Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence

Slide notesThe new Project Costing – Assets Real Time subject area in OTBI enables you to track capital expenditures and assets as never before. You will be able to:

Identify possible exceptions by comparing expensed and capitalizable costs

Review asset details and see how the assets are assigned to projects and tasks

Track capitalizable costs as they are grouped into asset lines, assigned to assets, transferred to Oracle Fusion Assets, and capitalized

Analyze amounts charged to construction-in-progress accounts.

Several sample reports are also provided to highlight various ways you may want to analyze your capital projects. You can use them immediately for data analysis or leverage them as a starting point to create your own customized reports.

Slide 8 - Analyze Billed and Unbilled Project Cost by Contract Using Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence

Slide notesThe Project Costing – Actual Cost Real Time subject area is enhanced to make it easier to view and analyze billable costs by contract and contract line. The new dimensions also allow you to create ad hoc reports that combine information across project costing and project billing subject areas. Some of the key business questions you’ll be able to answer include:

Where is a cost transaction in the billing lifecycle?

What percentage of a cost transaction is invoiced or recognized for revenue?

Is the correct bill rate applied to the cost transaction?

Which cost transactions are invoiced for a contract or contract line?

Which cost transactions are billed on a particular invoice?

Slide notesThe Project Billing – Invoices Real Time subject area and the Project Billing – Revenue Real Time subject area are enhanced so you can report on the invoices and revenue related to billing events. Some of the key business questions you’ll be able to answer include:

Which events are billed on a particular invoice?

Which events were invoiced for a particular contract line?

Slide notesBusinesses must be able to quickly and easily access data in real time to make informed decisions.

With the reporting enhancements made in Release 10, you’ll be able to analyze planned and actual costs using Smart View and then distribute the information using Microsoft products.

You can track capital asset and capital expenditures as they proceed through the capitalization process using Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence.

Finally, you can report on expenditures, billing events, and invoice events by contract or contract line to ensure all costs are billed appropriately and revenue is maximized.

All of these enhancements deliver real value by making it easier to create and report on key information that directly impacts your business.
