Crest of the University

Our logo is remarkable, systematic and meaningful interweaving of shapes, colours, images

and quotations giving a sense of perfect blend.

The Sanskrit quotation at the center is our Motto “Dnyanadheenam Jagat Sarvam” meaning

The symbol in the centre portrays the Indian Goddess of knowledge Shri Saraswati blessings

the learners. The yellow colour represents learning and knowledge which means the

University is observing the ancient Indian traditions of spreading knowledge.

University Profile

D.Y. Patil Education Society (Institution Deemed to be University) was established

on 1st September 2005 under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. Since then, the

University has developed into one of the premier educational institutes in the

country offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various

disciplines in Medicine and Interdisciplinary fields, fulfilling the aspirations of

students hailing from several parts of the country. The University comprises of a

Medical College which is actively engaged in teaching at UG, PG and Diploma levels

as well as a Centre for Interdisciplinary Research both of which undertake advanced

research in emerging areas and on socially relevant themes.

D. Y. Patil Medical College, Kolhapur is ranked 49thamongst all Medical Colleges in

the country and ranked 15th amongst all Medical Colleges in the State of

Maharashtra, as per scientific survey by the Times of India in 2014-2015.

This University has been also awarded with 3rd CMAI CCI Technology Education

Excellence Award 2015 at Ahmedabad.

The University was honoured with the ‘Campus Preparedness Award-2015’ by

Campus Management, Pune for felicitating the preparedness of India Campuses for

Global Excellence.

This academic year the University has been selected for the UNESCO chair in Bio-

ethics.

The University is headed by a renowned policy maker and scientist Dr. Vijay

Bhatkar as Chancellor. His contribution to the fields of Medical Science, Computer

and Health care is well known and is reflected in his role as representative of various

Government bodies and universities.

The University has proven excellence in academics and research. In the field of

research, the University has collaborations with different institutes in Australia,

South Korea, China, Russia and United Kingdom.

The University has a well-designed structure of bodies and committees to translate

the University’s mission and goal into concrete programs as per norms of UGC, MCI

& University rules. The University has set up a Centre for Interdisciplinary Research

(CIR) that promotes, facilitates and supports interdisciplinary programs and

research. Ph.D. scholars in the University have chosen interdisciplinary topics in

emerging areas for their research projects. Emphasis is laid on translational research

with practical outcomes impacting clinical medicine.

The transparent and ethical standards maintained by our admission process have

seen this University admit students from different states of India. This has further

given impetus to ensure the ease and facilitation of non-local (and local) students

through a thorough orientation session, development of a Foundation Course

Module and establishment of a 2-year language class for the students. This diversity

is also reflected in the faculty with 24.63 % staff coming from institutions from other

States. This brings to our institution unity in diversity as also allowing our students


to appreciate the variation in patient demographics, diseases, health care facilities

and cultures in different parts of India.

For promotion of Research we have two committees to monitor the research

progress; Board of Postgraduate Teaching and Research for approval of Post

graduate protocols and scrutiny of Ph. D. synopsis and research proposals and the

Research and Recognition Committee for approval of Ph.D. thesis topics.

Additionally, an Institutional Research Committee is formed at the level of the

Medical College for review of research by faculty and students. During Ph.D. viva,

external referees are included in the panel. The teachers in the various departments

have published a total of 825 publications with impact factor ranging 0.5-7.2. They

have authored 18 chapters and edited 9 books. Our faculty have been granted 2

International Patents and the University has filed 10 patents on medical science

related inventions. The ‘H’ Index of the University is 24.

The University has approved funding for 24 research projects amounting to Rs 145.8

Lakhs, and 32 research projects from funding agencies such as ICMR, DST, CSIR,

DRDO, BRNS, UGC, and DBT amounting to Rs 586.88 Lakhs have been sanctioned.

The University has active collaborations with International and National

organizations of repute. The University has signed 10 international MOUs and 12

national MOUs.

The University provides financial, administrative and infrastructure supports to

conduct and promote workshops/conferences on interdisciplinary/

multidisciplinary research. The University has organized 2 International conferences

and 11 National conferences and 31 Workshops in last four years.

The University has a system for student support and mentoring like UMGS, Student

Guardianship programme and PG Club. In addition, student support is also given

through Women Development Cell, Student Welfare Cell and services of a Clinical

Psychologist.

Apart from classroom interaction, teachers provide mentorship in the field of

research where students are encouraged to apply ICMR-STS research projects and

undertake additional in-house research projects. There are 10 ICMR-STS projects

have been awarded to our undergraduate students.

The University has made provision for PG and Ph.D. students to get exposure to

higher learning institutions, such as National Institute of Mental Health and

Neurosciences, Bangalore, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Mumbai, NCCS Pune,

RMRC, Belagavi, Shri Siddhivinayak Ganapati Cancer Hospital, Miraj, Kolhapur

Cancer Centre, Apple Saraswati Multispecialty Hospital and Patki Research

Foundation.


1. Admission Procedure-2018-19

� NEET- PG is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the

single entrance examination to various MD/MS Courses as per Section 10

(D) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. No other entrance

examination, either at state or institution level, shall be valid for entry to

MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses.

� National Board of Examinations has been notified by the Ministry of

Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to conduct on anAll-

India basis NEET-PG 2018

2. Eligibility Criteria for NEET-PG 2018

Candidates in possession of MBBS degree/Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate

from a Medical College/Institute duly recognized as per the provisions of the

Indian Medical Council Act, possessing either a permanent or provisional

registration certificate of MBBS or equivalent qualification issued by the

Medical Council of India / State Medical Council and have completed one

year of Internship or are likely to complete the same on or before may apply

for 31 March 2018 NEET-PG st through online application system at

www.nbe.edu.in

3. Common Counselling

There shall be a common counseling for admission to all postgraduate courses

(MD/MS/PG Diplomas) in all Medical Educational Institution on the basis of

merit list of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test. Common counseling

shall be conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services.

4. Undertaking and Bond (Annexure-1)

After completion of PG Degree programme, the students are required to work

as Senior Resident, for which a separate bond is required to be submitted.

5. Bank Guarantee (Annexure-2)

For the assurance of payment of tuition and development fee of subsequent

years, the students are required to give the Bank Guarantee in the prescribed

proforma. It will be returned to the students after completion of the PG

Programme.

9. Rules for refund of Fees

As per rules - displayed on website & as per the UGC/M.C.C guidelines

10. Warning

The candidates seeking admission to the course of the University is warned

against possible cheating by unscrupulous person(s), who may promise and

assure seat by extracting large sums of money, from the parents/candidates.

The college has not appointed any such agent(s). The college shall not, in any

way be responsible for the misdeeds of such persons.

11. Ragging

Ragging in any form is a punishable offence in accordance with the “UGC

Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational

Institutions, 2009”, and committing this act of indiscipline shall result in –

Punishment under the provisions of any penal law for the time being in force.

Candidates, on admission, will be provided with detailed guidelines related

to ragging.

As per the recent UGC Regulations, the affidavits to be filed by the Student

and their parent about the anti-ragging regulations of UGC, these affidavits

need not be on stamp paper nor need to be registered. On the Contrary they

should be submitted by the admitted students by submittting these affidavits

12. Court’s Jurisdiction

Any legal dispute arising out of the admission procedure of the course and

refund of fees of the University shall be under Kolhapur jurisdiction only.

the college.

3. Bank authorities will directly forward the BG to D. Y. Patil Education Society

Deemed University, Kolhapur, 869 E Ward, Kasaba Bawada, Kolhapur under

a proper covering letter, which should have same dates of validity as

mentioned in Bank Guarantee.

4. In case of any deviation from above, BG will not be accepted.
