Note : The rules and regulations regarding admission, eligibility and examination are in

accordance with the guidelines and ordinances of Savitribai Phule Pune University. If there

is any change from Savitribai Phule Pune University, it is madatory to be observed by the

INTRODUCTION

Lonavala Education Trust was established in the year 1981 by a few generous

enterprising citizens of Lonavala with an objective of providing a local educational

institution in order to impart excellent higher education to the rural students in and

around Lonavala. The trust is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860

and Maharashtra Charitable Trust's Act 1950.

To Cater to the needs of the rural and tribal students, the trust started the college

in 1983. Right from its inception the college has maintained its objective of providing

value based education and create responsible citizens of India. In the last 35 years

the college has acquired the recognition and reputation in academic arena of

Maharashtra. It is reaccredited with 'B' grade by National Assessment and

Accreditation Council, Bangaluru.

The college offers undergraduate and post graduate Programmes in various

disciplines, leading to B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., M.A. & M.Com. degrees. It has maintained

a glorious tradition of producing academically excellent students. Several co-curricular

and extra curricular activities are organized to enhance the various capacities of the

students. Organization of many state, national level seminars and conferences help

the student community to improve its knowledge in concerned fields.

The College runs an N.S.S. unit which has worked comprehensively for the

development of the rural masses. Many of our N.S.S. volunteers and programme

officers are appreciated and admired for their contribution in the welfare of society.

The institution has supported and cultivated sportsmanship and teamspirit among the

young minds. Many of our students have outshined and outgrown in state and national

level sports competitions. The college has started a hostel for girl students commuting

from various parts of Maval Tehsil. The facilities like well equipped laboratories,

resourceful library, Seminar Hall, Indoor and Outdoor games training, Earn & Learn

Scheme, Book Bank scheme have benefited the students to a larger extent. It gives

us immense pleasure to hand out this prospectus cum handbook, it will certainly

inform the students about the courses they have opted for.

ADMISSION TO THE UNDERGRADUATE COURSES

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1) The student seeking admission to the first year of B.A., B.Com. & B.Sc. course

will have to apply to the principal in the prescribed form immediately after the

declaration of H.S.C. results. The prescribed form shall be available on the

website of the college. The hard copy of the duly filled in form has to be submitted

to the office of college.

2) The passed XII std students of the college (Those who were admitted to XII std

in Arts, Commerce and Science Junior College, Lonavla, Valvan, Tal - Maval) will

have to apply for admission within seven days from the declaration of the H.S.C.

results.

3) The students passed from other institutes will have to apply and look for the merit

list.

4) The merit list shall be displayed on the website & notice board of the college.

5) The second & third year students of B.A./ B.Com. / B.Sc. the students, seeking

admission to S.Y. and T.Y. of B.A. B.Com. and B.Sc. will have to apply within

Seven days after the declaration of results of their pervious examinations.

6) Admission to the first year of all faculties will be provisional till the student

produces Eligibility Certificate from Savitribai Phule Pune University.

7) The girl students seeking admission to hostel will have to apply separately to the

teacher-in-charge of the hostel.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO FIRST YEAR B.A. / B.Com. / B.Sc.

1) FIRST YEAR ARTS :

The candidate who has passed Higher Secondary School Certificate

examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education or

its equivalent examination of any other Statutory Board / University with English

as a compulsory subject shall be eligible for admission to F.Y.B.A. class.

2) FIRST YEAR COMMERCE :

The candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate

Examination of Commerce or Science of the Maharashtra State Board or Higher

Secondary Examination of its equivalent of any other Statutory Board or

University with English as a compulsory subject shall be eligible for admission to

F.Y.B.Com. class.

3) FIRST YEAR SCIENCE :

i) The candidate who has passed Higher Secondary School Certificate

Examination in Science of the Maharashtra State Board of Higher

Secondary Education or its equivalent examination of any other Statutory

Board / University and has passed in English and in three Science subjects

out of (i) Physics (ii) Chemistry (iii) Biology (iv) Mathematics (v) Geography

(vi) Geology etc shall be eligible for admission to F.Y. B.Sc. class.

ii) The candidate who has passed Higher Secondary School Certificate

Examination (10+2) with English and any one of the following vocational

subjects is also eligible for admission to the F.Y.B.Sc. class.

All the passed students of F.Y.B.A. are eligible to get admitted to S.Y.B.A.

However, the students who fail at the most in two subjects are allowed to keep their

terms. (ATKT)

There shall be two subjects as compulsory subjects

A.T.K.T. Rules :

As far as A.T.K.T. is concerned, the student who fails in two theories and one

practical head of passing at F.Y.B.Com. may be admitted to S.Y.B.Com. likewise the

student who fails in two theory and one practical head of passing at S.Y.B.Com. may

be admitted to T.Y.B.Com. But the student passing S.Y.B.Com. but fails in any subject

at F.Y.B.Com. cannot be admitted to T.Y.B.com.

ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES FOR

UNDER GRADUATE COURSES

As per the order of Honourable Supreme Court of India, Environmental

Studies course is compulsory for every undergraduate student. The college is

implementing this course in Environmental Studies in the second year of all

degree courses. The examination will be conducted at the end of Second Year

and will carry 100 marks (Theory : 75, Project : 25). These marks will be

converted into the grades accordingly. The grade will be mentioned in the

degree marksheet. If any student fails in this course, the result of his course

will be withheld by the university.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

(UNDER GRADUATION)

1) The institute fallows Savitribai Phule Pune University’s 2013 Annual pattern for the

examinations.

2) For Arts and Commerce faculty undergraduate courses, Term End Examination is

conducted in all the subjects that the candidate has opted for.

3) The term end examination of 60 marks for each subject is to be taken by the

candidate.

The marks obtained out of 60 are converted to marks out of 20 and are submitted

to the university as ‘Internal Marks’.

4) The candidate has to appear for university Annual examination which shall be of

80 marks for each subject. (Except the subjects for which practical / oral

examinations are conducted according to the guidelines of Savitribai Phule Pune

University).

5) The Practical / Oral Examinations for B.Com students will be conducted for the

following subjects : Each practical exam will be of 20 marks.

6) FY B.Sc. students have to appear for Mid Term examination of 20 marks as a part

of internal evaluation. The Annual examination for each subject will be of 80

marks.

7) S.Y. and TY B.Sc. students will have to appear for semester examination of 40

marks for each subject. Internal examination of 10 marks for each subject shall

be conducted before the semester examination. There shall be Two semesters in

the second and two in the Third year.

8) There will be practical examination for each subject that the candidate has opted

for (F.Y. to T.Y.B.Sc.)

9) All the students have to fill up the online examination form for the University

examination and the hard copy is required to be submitted along with the

prescribed fees.

10. All the students have to fill up offline examination forms for internal examination

to be conducted (Term End & Mid Term Examinations) by the college and pay the

prescribed fees.

CONVOCATION (FOR UNDER GRADUATES)

After the declaration of results, all the Third year students must fill up

the online form for convocation. The graduate students will get the degree

certificates, only if they fill up the online convocation forms.

The graduated students must attend the convocation ceremony to be

arranged by the college every year. The convocation ceremony will be

organized in the month of February tentatively.

M.A. Economics - Part I (Credit & Semester System)

Eligibility for M.A. (Economics) :

Any graduate of this University or any other recognized University shall be admitted

to M.A. (Economics) Course.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

(POST GRADUATION)

Choice - Based Credit System for the Post - Graduate Programs

M.A. (Marathi, Economics) and M.Com.

Choice - based credit system is implemented for the Post - Graduate Programs

in all the affiliated colleges of Savitribai Phule, Pune University from the academic

year 2013-14, in order to cope up with the norms and practices accepted and

implemented acrosss the globe. The college runs Three P.G. programs namely Master

of Commerce (Business Administration) and Master of Arts (Economics) and Master

of Arts (Marathi).

The credit system is implemented as under:

A) Number of Credits :

The P.G. Degree will be awarded to those students who obtain minimum ‘16’

credits per semester (4 credits for each subject) and ‘64’ credits in two years program.

3) Passing Criteria

The student requires ‘4’ credits to qualify in each subject and needs to obtain

minimum 40% marks to gain 4 credits.

Explanation :

Internal exam > 15 Marks

External exam > 15 Marks

Aggregate > 40 Marks

A student should gain 50% credits (16 credits 32 credits) in the first two

semesters to be eligible to get admission in 3rd semester.

Maximum duration to re-appear for a course will be 4 academic years with

maximum 3 attempts.

4) Evaluation Pattern

The marks obtained in internal and external examinations will be converted

into grades and later into grade point average.

The marking scheme is as follows.

RULES OF DISCIPLINE

1) The students must observe discipline strictly in the college premises and shall not

disturb the administration and teaching - learning in any manner.

2) The students should be regular and punctual in attending classes, tutorials and

submission of the term-work in various subjects. Terms shall not be granted and

a student shall not be certified for examination if his/her progress, conduct and

attendance is not satisfactory.

3) The students, if found indulging in any anti-national activities contrary to the

provisions of the Acts & Laws enforced by the State and Central Governments

will be liable to be expelled from the college without any notice by the Principal

of the College.

4) Ragging of students in any form on or off the College campus and hostel is

strictly prohibited. Defaulters will be strictly dealt with as per the Govt.

instructions.

5) Smoking, consumption of alcohol and use of drugs is strictly prohibited in the

premises of the College and hostel.

6) Bicycles, scooters and vehicles should be parked only in areas provided for the

purpose. The institute accepts no responsibility for their safe custody. Vehicles

lodged elsewhere may be confiscated.

7) Any changes in the address of the student must be intimated by him in writing to

the college office immediately.

8) Students must use aprons and uniforms is prescribed pattern while working in

dissection hall, laboratories, class-rooms and in the college premises.

9) The students must carry Identity Cards signed by the Principal and produce the

same whenever asked by the College Authorities. Without Identity cards

students will not be allowed to enter the college premises.

10) The students are expected to read the notices put up on the notice board of the

College. The College accepts no responsibility for loss of any advantage to the

student due to his failure to read the notice in time.

11) In case, a student requires to remain absent for some reasons, he/she will be

required to take the prior permission of the Principal.

12) If any of the statement made in application form or any information supplied by

the student in connection with his/her admission is later, at any time found to be

false or incorrect, his/her admission will be cancelled, fees forfeited and he/she

will be expelled from the college by the Principal and prosecuted by the Govt., if

deemed to be necessary.

13) Any damage to the college property, apparatus, furniture, equipment, library

books, building etc. must be compensated immediately by the students.

14) Students must attend social and national events organised by the College such

as 26th

January, 17th

August (Foundation day) and 15th

August, and all other

declared national celebrations.

15) The student will be bound by the rules and regulations framed by the College and

the University from time to time.

16) No student will be allowed to appear for the university examination unless he/she

has paid all his/her dues and completed his/her practical journals and has kept

satisfactory attendance.

17) The Principal reserves the right to prescribe any rule/s of discipline and

accordingly take necessary disciplinary action.

Refund of Fees

1. If a student submits his application for cancellation of admission in a prescribed

form duly completed within 15 calendar days from the date of admission, 10 per

cent of the total amount of tuition fees prescribed for the course will be deducted

from the amount of tuition fees paid by him.

2. If a student submits his application for cancellation of admission in a prescribed

form duly completed within 30 calendar days from the date of admission, 25 per

cent of the total amount of tuition fees prescribed for the course will be deducted

from the amount of tuition fees paid by him.

3. If a student submits his application for cancellation of his admission after 30

calendar days from the date of admission to that particular course no refund of fees

will be made.

4. If any student admitted to any of course leaves the course at any time after 90

calendar days after the date of his admission to that course in an academic year,

he/she will be required to pay full amount of tuition fees for the remaining entire

duration of his course.

Hostel Accommodation

Accommodation for girls is available in the hostel. The female students who are

admitted in the college will be eligible for admission in the hostel. They will have

to apply separately in the prescribed form available in the hostel office.

Refund of Deposits

A student should collect his/her deposit(s) within six months from the date of

cancellation of his/her admission or within six months of completion of his/her

course.

Grant of Terms

The student will be granted terms and allowed to appear for university

examination, provided he has kept satisfactory attendance of 75% for each

subject / course / paper.

Eligible students can avail of the facilities of various Govt. scholarships which are

awarded on the basis of merit at S.S.C/H.S.C./U.G./P.G. examinations and

income of the parents.

The following extra curricular activities are provided to the students by the

college.

The college has a well equipped library. Needy and deserving students are given

books under the Book-Bank Scheme.

Gymkhana

Adequate arrangements are made for games and sports. Special equipment are

made available for the development of the Gymnasium Section. The facilities for
