country. Ever since its establishment, it has

emerged as one of the preferred destinations for

bright students from across India. In view of the

changing needs of the rapidly and constantly

changing business environment, it has initiated

new programs in management studies.

NALSAR, has built a reputation of producing

talented and well equipped class of lawyers for

the corporate firms. To enhance the efficiency of

Indian judicial system, Hon'ble Chief Justice of

India has emphasized the need of putting in

place court management system. Though the

country needs professionally trained court

managers, there is no management institution in

the country which offers a specialized M.B.A.

(Court Management). In view of our statutory

objectives, we have taken this responsibility on

ourselves to integrate management with law and

produce highly competent court managers.

Similarly, we also aim to contribute managers

who are well equipped with knowledge and skills

for the business world. As part of this endeavor,

NALSAR announces admission into M.B.A.

(Corporate Governance) and M.B.A. (Financial

Services and Capital Markets) to carve managers

having sufficient skills with a blend of law and

management to cater to the needs of a complex

nat ional and internat ional business

environment. The brand equity of NALSAR along

with the legacy of learning and the direction of

creative and learned faculty will ensure that our

students attain success in their endeavors. We

envisage inculcating in our students, knowledge,

ability, capacity to understand and capability to

perform so that they are able to operate

effectively and efficiently in all sectors of the

economy.

NALSAR aims to nurture global managers who

would prove to be a right fit in a fast changing

business environment, characterized by

uncertainty, complexity and speed of socio-

economic, technological and political changes.

The success of future managers will depend on

their ability to respond quickly in uncertain

situations, their adaptiveness in dealing with

complex and multicultural global environments

and their ability to innovatively leverage the

opportunities arising with the advent of fast

changing technologies. This is a challenge that

NALSAR proudly accepts.

NALSAR aims to set the highest benchmarks in

the area of management and law. Those who are

looking for an outstanding personal and

professional growth are welcome to join NALSAR

family.

“Justice delayed is justice denied”. The Malimath

Committee Report (1989-90) further adds that

the judicial system has failed to inspire

confidence in public because of lack of

competence, objectivity and judicial approach.

There may be multiple reasons for the delays in

justice delivery mechanism, but, a universally

accepted rationale is mishandling of case-flow

portfolio. Famous lawyer Late Nani Palkhiwala,

attributed lack of scientific approach to the

problem with application of modern technology

for the delays. The judicial system (court system)

is giant organization with thousands of people

undertaking multiple tasks, encountering with

many organizational issues for providing timely

solutions. The judicial system, in order to

dispose the cases fast, gain confidence and

respect, must manage its resources effectively.

This certainly requires good court management.

The NALSAR M.B.A. program is a unique venture

involving, major specializations in Court

Management, Corporate Governance and

Financial Services & Capital Markets. The

programs are characterized by cutting edge

course structures, innovative pedagogy, live

projects, intensive lab works and internship

programs.

NALSAR is dedicated to the training of budding

l a w y e r s a n d c o u r t m a n a g e r s w i t h

uncompromising standards of excellence in the

service of legal system and for the society as a

whole. NALSAR ignites and nurtures the spirit

of enquiry.

We welcome the future business leaders into the

NALSAR family.

M.B.A. Prospectus-2013

The latest developments in the field of business

calls for competent professionals with a legal

background, an ability to use technology and

skills of management. NALSAR believes in

creating and disseminating knowledge and skills

in core and frontier areas through innovative

educational programs and developing a new

cadre of professionals with a high level of

competence and deep commitment to ethics.

Corporate finance is changing from domestic

funding to multi-currency funding. Financial

control is changing from simple accounting to

integrated control systems based on Enterprise

Resource Planning. Investment Management is

shifting from simple equity and debt products to

complex derivative products like options, futures

and swaps. Financial Services like banking and

insurance are getting geared up for virtual

delivery in a seamless digital world. Future

Managers need to appreciate these changes. The

finance manager of today is called upon to evolve

finance strategies that dovetail with the firm's

competitive business strategies. M.B.A.

(Financial Services and Capital Markets) is

based on the contemporary theory and practice,

and provides a strong conceptual foundation to

those aspiring for top positions and career

opportunities in the sector of finance.

Corporate governance deals with the complex set

of relationships between the company and its

Board of Directors, Shareholders, and other

Stakeholders. In the recent years, the regulators

and legislators have intensified their focus on

how businesses are to be run. They are

endeavouring to create a template for new

corporate governance and disclosure measures,

which would be beneficial for both the

stakeholders and regulators. Realising the

importance of 'Corporate Governance', NALSAR

has introduced 'Corporate Governance' as a

specialisation in its M.B.A. program. On

completion of this course a student will be able to

adopt appropriate mechanism for effective

governance, value the shareholder and

stakeholder rights and responsibilities, adhere

to sound principles of direction and

management and implement the best practices

on corporatemanagement.

The r ecommenda t i on o f appo in t ing

professionally qualified court managers came

from the 13th Finance Commission which

submitted its Report in 2009. The Commission,

which provided Rs 2,500 crore over the next five

years for the quick disposal of an approximately

1,125 lakh cases pending in lower courts

recommended creating the post of court

managers in all districts. A student who studies

M.B.A. without background in law cannot

discharge his duties efficiently as a court

manager. In order to fill this gap, NALSAR has

introduced 'Court Management' as a major

elective in its M.B.A. Program so that non-law

graduates become fully conversant with the

functioning of the judicial system. A student

who acquires this degree will be able to discharge

his duties more efficiently and effectively as a

court manager. I sincerely believe that

NALSAR's M.B.A. program would cater the needs

of both law aswell as business.

I wish you all good luck.
