CYBERWELLNESS
UPDATES FOR PARENTS
Collection of device (onboarding) will be conducted in First
Week of Semester 2.
This is due to several factors:
Delay in delivery by vendor
Mid year exams (Sec 2) and Weighted Assessment ( Sec 1 & 3)
– Onboarding process would be disruptive to students
Starting Semester 2 right with focus on using device effectively

SUPPORTING STUDENTS IN THE PROPER CARE AND USE
OF THEIR PERSONAL LEARNING DEVICES (PLDS)
The Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) has guidelines to help
students care and use their PLDs safely and responsibly.
In doing so, students can experience an enriching and
active learning process using their PLDs .
COMPONENTS OF AUP
The Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) consists of the following three
components:
1. Device Use
2. Technology Use
3. USS Chromebook Policy Sign-Off and Student Pledge
RESPONSIBLE DEVICE USE
The Chromebook is intended for use every day at school. Students must be
responsible for bringing their Chromebook to all classes, unless specifically
advised not to do so by their teacher.
Students are required to bring home their Chromebook to charge every
night and should ensure that their personal devices are fully charged before
bringing it to school.
RESPONSIBLE DEVICE USE
Students are responsible for their personal learning devices. They
should secure their Chromebook using locking cable during PE
classes, recess and co-curricular activities.
The school will not be held responsible for any damage, theft or loss
of their devices. In the event of loss or theft of devices, students must
make a police report and report the matter to the school.
REPAIR AND WARRANTY
Loaner Chromebooks may be issued to students when they leave
their Chromebook for repair at the ICT Centre.
Limited Warranty from defects in materials and workmanship is
over a period of 3 years.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, abuse, or
accidental loss.
SAFE TECHNOLOGY USE
Students are responsible for the ethical and educational use of the
technology resources of Unity Secondary School.
If students inadvertently access a website that contains
objectionable material, they should notify a teacher immediately so
that such sites are blocked from further access.
All students must comply with trademark and copyright laws and
all license agreements.
SAFE TECHNOLOGY USE
Students should always use appropriate language.
Students should not transmit language/material that is profane,
obscene, abusive, or offensive to others.
Students should not send mass e-mails, chain letters, or spam.
Private chatting during class without permission is NOT allowed.

Cyber wellness in CCE is important as it focuses on the well-being of our studentsas they navigate cyberspace, equipping them with the knowledge and skills toharness the power of ICT for positive purposes, maintain a positive presence incyberspace, and be safe and responsible users of ICT.

WHY CHROMEBOOK? WARRANTY? FINANCE RELATED MATTERS
During our first engagement session, we have shared some
of these details. The details can be found on our school

WHY CHROMEBOOK?
Functionality
• Inking function ( Stylus to take digital notes, online sketching etc),
• Keyboard function ( To type essays or work on SLS)
• Convertible – Able to fold to become tablet like.
• Compatible with software (apps) and hardware
• Camera and voice recording
Practicality
• Lightweight at 1.31 Kg. Convenient to bring to school everyday.
• Battery life: Able to sustain at least 8 hours of usage in a day.
• Size: comfortable to use and keep in school bag
Durability
• Sturdy and resistant. Able to resist spillage ( not waterproof)

Battery Life
• 20 hours standby mode
• Up to 10 hours of usage( Depending on some factors such as brightness and extensive usage)
• Battery covered under warranty.
• Should be able to last more than 3 years if taken care of properly

• EMR stylus – does not require battery.
• Cable lock – included in the bundle for securing the device.
1. Student iCON (email): Every secondary school student will be given
an email address. This is a service provided by Google as part of
Google Suite.
2. Microsoft Pro Plus: Every secondary school student will be able to
use Microsoft Office tools that include Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
3. Zoom: Every secondary school student will be given a Zoom free
account with 40 mins time limit using the Student iCON for the
students’ video conferencing needs.
4. Other apps for T&L : e-book etc.
APPLICATIONS (APPS)
The chromebook connects automatically to the school WIFI.
There is no need to log in and out every day to the wifi.
There is no need to purchase data for the internet usage.
There is sufficient wifi coverage for all students to use in the
school.
SCHOOL WIFI
WHEN CAN THE STUDENTS COLLECT THEIR DEVICE?
The school and vendor will assist the students in the
collection and onboarding (checking of the device, enrolling
of DMA in the chromebook)
Students will be collecting their device on first week Term 3.
Parents who have opted on the option to collect on their
child’s behalf can collect on the same day from 2pm-5pm
onwards. Alternatively, you can opt to allow your child to
collect on your behalf.
