MYP Why visit Garudmachi

F rom mountains and streams to sunshine and trees, Garudmachi is an ideal place which soothes

your mind, body and soul. A place to experience the isolation, comfort and relaxation where the

chirping of birds echoes through the deep valleys. The natural light never tends to flicker or dim. From

dawn to dusk an enchanting breeze makes it known that we are on clouds floating miles away from

chaotic cities. Cities where people are singled out. As for me, I’d rather be isolated in the beauty of

nature than in a packed city. The magical charm of the old villages is truly hypnotizing. The mornings

start fresh, where the sun greets us with the biggest smile. The afternoons are even better, when we

finally feel our bodies getting warmed, soaking the sun’s bright rays. But an ethereal fairy-tale like

feeling lingers about us when the sun sets. The sky fills with purple, pink, orange, yellow and cream.

The greenery of the mountains goes in sync with it. The sun bids us goodbye when the moon, with all

its glistening beauty has its arms spread for us. Camping out can be an amazing experience which can

leave you in awe. When twilight falls, the sky is truly mesmerizing. Neither the stars, nor the moon let

darkness fall. They’re always above us, with earth below. The mountains reveal their beauty to its

fullest especially in the dark, when the moon highlights its sharp contour. In all, Garudmachi is a breath-

taking place, suitable for people of all ages who want calm and inspiration in their normal lives.

MYP MYP Educational Trip Reflection

T his year for our MYP trip we, the 8th graders, went to Garudmachi. It is located in the outskirts

of Pune. A short bus ride and we were at the training centre where a whole lot of adventure

awaited us. We indulged in many outdoor activities. It was a one of a kind experience for us. We even

had a proper camping out session! This was the climax of our entire trip. We cleared the area, set up

our tents, collected firewood, lit a stove, cooked our food, made a campfire and sang into the night.

The neighbouring mountains and the stars and moon above seemed to smile in approval.

The nature trails threw open a whole new world to us. We learned a lot about reptiles and birds and

our ecosystem in general through these trails. In addition to spotting as many as 23 exotic birds, we also

were a witness to a large rat snake basking in the warm morning sun. Our loud cacophonous group

scared it and it gracefully slid into its hole nearby.

The star gazing night was one of the best. The night sky was very clear as compared to the polluted

skies in Mumbai. The bright moon however kept us from seeing the whole lot of constellations.

There were adventure activities like Burma Bridge crossing, rock climbing, rappelling and valley crossing

that tested our mettle.

Late evenings were filled with watching animal documentaries that presented wildlife in a totally new

perspective. The World Wildlife Fund representatives, Mr. Michael Saldana and Ms. Janice Vaz were a

storehouse of information. They readily shared a lot of information with us and taught us that learning

can be a whole lot of fun. Their passion for safeguarding nature in general, and leopards in particular,

taught us many important lessons. It is thanks to them that we are now more tolerant and accepting

towards the wild life we see around us. To cap all the excitement, they even taught us the whole

procedure of setting camera traps in the wild. We set one in the adjoining jungle and guess what? We

really got lucky and captured a barking deer grazing in the area.

It was a memorable four day trip that helped us bond with one another, test our limits and experience

an alternate way of life. Can’t wait for the trip next year!

H ello, today I will talk about my experience in the Sula vineyards. When I arrived, I saw the

huge and beautiful space. The place was perfect for taking pictures with a picturesque

environment. With the students of my class, I went on a tour that explained how the wine is made.

There are two types of wine, red and white. There is also a mixture called pink. For me, it was very

interesting since tourism is my favorite when traveling. In the vineyards, I crushed the grapes. It was

truly an amazing and fun experience. Wine is not only a drink in France, it is an important element of

French culture, which is very different from the Indian culture. There are festivals and wine tasting

events. The Wine of France is well known throughout the world. Wine in India is popular too, but not

important in our culture. In France, vinification is a form of art.

RMUN 2017 MYP-IBDP

O n February 17th & 18th, RMUN 2017 took place. It kick started with registrations from

numerous different schools such as Mercedes Benz International School, Ecole Mondiale,

Jamnabai Narsee School, Podar international school, Aditya birla world school and RBK international

academy. In the 4th edition of RMUN there were 3 committees which were SC(security council) , FWC

(future war council) and ADHOC. The opening ceremony commenced at 12 pm, which, was hosted, by

Kanishk Arora (Photography head) and Dharmee Mehta (Press corps head) and the program started off

with the DP section singing us a song “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. Our chief guest for the event was

Mrs. Sunita Badrinarayan was came up on stage and gave us an encouraging speech. After the speech

the ceremonial lighting of the lamp took place where our chief guest Mrs. Sunita Badrinarayan,

principal Mrs. Monica Sarang and IBDP coordinator Mr. Duke Getonto lit the lamp of hope and

prosperity. Our Director General Mr. Surya Ramesh gave an inspiring speech to the delegates of RMUN

2017. He spoke about how MUN has become a part of our lives and connects us as one as we together

will create a brighter future for the world of tomorrow. The ceremony ended with our principal Mrs.

Monica Sarang declared the conference of RMUN 2017 open.

T he closing ceremony started of with delegates sharing their experiences about attending

different MUN’s and how RMUN was a different experience to them. Soon the Director General

MR. Surya Ramesh started announcing the ‘Best Delegates’, ‘High Commendation’ and ‘Special

Mention’ for each committee. The Chairs and Co-chairs of the committee’s gave the delegates these

certificates of appreciation. All delegates of the SC committee, ADHOC committee and FWC committee

were given their certificate of participation, followed by the Press, Admin and the photography team.

After all the certificates were distributed photo sessions took place of all the committee members. In

the end the Director general gave out a vote of thanks to all the delegates, the chairs, the press team,

admin team, photography team and the rest of the management.
