ADF Newsletter Volume 25 No. 2 March 2020
Report from the Winter Meeting
Baptist Rural Life Ministries Bee Project, Hon-
duras and Guatemala was approved for $5000
A report* included “The $5000 you gave us last
August made it possible for us to achieve our
goal of adding a beef cattle component so we
can train villagers in beef cattle production.”
Restart of the Baptist Out of School training pro-
gram (Philippines) funded in the August meeting
has been delayed as all available resources are
being used to repair earthquake damages.
Nelson Philpot reviewed the history of agricul-
tural missions and encouraged ADF to meet the
challenges ahead
Dr. John Lawrence, recently retired veterinary
missionary, described projects, emphasized the
need to keep work confidential for safety of
workers, and requested prayer for an innovative
program of delivering the Bible in native lan-
guage.
Jeff Palmer, former IMB ag missionary and cur-
rent CEO of Baptist Global Response gave an
update on the work of BGR. One third of BGR
efforts involve disaster response and 2/3 involve
community development including agricultural
projects. BGR is currently supporting 40 ag pro-
jects, many of them in closed areas.

President’s Message
What a wonderful Winter Meeting in Vicksburg!
Many thanks to Jim Watson, James Henley and oth-
ers who helped to organize this meeting. I am espe-
cially grateful to Dr. Nelson Philpot for sharing in
such detail the history of ADF. It was encouraging
to hear the faithfulness and dedication of those who
have shown the love of Jesus Christ through this or-
ganization over the last 50 years.
The reminder that we still have a task to fulfill did
not end with the Winter Meeting on Saturday for me.
In our Sunday morning worship service the following
day, our pastor’s focal passage was the healing of a
lame beggar (Luke 3:1-9). We all know the story. In
verse 6 Peter tells the man “I do not possess silver
and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the
name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene—walk!” (NAS).
Then in verse 7, “And seizing him by the right hand,
he (Peter) raised him up.” The miracle was by God,
but He used Peter to help the man up to walk on his
newly strengthened legs!
Is the work of ADF not the same? Are we not the
outreached hand God has equipped to serve others
through agriculture? May we always give God the
glory while continuing in His service.
Casting Bread,
Randy Graves.
Nelson Philpot (below) gave a comprehensive ac-
count of agricultural missions history and identified
the challenges ahead.
David Morrison (right) gave the Louisiana report.
The Louisiana Fellowship has been supporting an
IMB missionary in Eastern Europe for about 5
years now and contributed $8,500 in 2019. They
have also funded projects in Thailand and Mexico.

Jeff Palmer (below) gave an update from Baptist
Global Response. BGR is currently supporting 40
ag projects, many of them in closed areas. Jeff not-
ed that there are still many IMB missionaries do-
ing ag work even though there are now few
trained, vocational ag missionaries. There are
many opportunities for BGR and ADF to cooper-
ate.
