Saint-Étienne joins Aderly! By deciding – as a logical extension of its participation in the Metropolitan Centre – to join Aderly, Saint-Étienne Métropole has demonstrated its firm commitment to the metropolitan trend. Because, when it comes to attractiveness, let there be no mistake, the metropolises have long been way ahead of regions, and even countries. For their investments, global companies now choose locations where wealth is created, where there are clusters of scientific talent, entrepreneurs, artists and creative talent and where cross-fertilization occurs, thanks to the proximity and concentration of know-how. These companies choose employment areas where they find the qualified people they need to stay competitive, and where they find the talent to innovate and internationalize… In other words, they choose metropolises! When a company comes to us to set up for business in the “Lyon area”, it has in mind the job market of Lyon which includes Saint-Étienne. This metropolis will provide Aderly with its skills in industrial, design and optical engineering, as well as its expertise in medical devices and complementary offerings in the services sector. So this is good news for the local area, and for the Agency! Who does what on the team ?

Kristin Mangold

Originally from Ber lin, she chose to make Lyon her new home six years ago. After learning and working in the field of international culture, Kristin recently joined the team as network manager. In par ticular, she oversees the ONLYLYON Ambassadors, worldwide.

Alexandre Jacques

Fascinated with Lyon from an ear ly age, this former Executive Consultant of a digital agency combines his two passions to promote the Metropolis on the social networks. You will probably come across him in comments on Lyon’s Facebook page, drawing attention to the latest tourism video on YouTube, or in discussions with Japanese investors on LinkedIn.

Aurélie Moretto

Since her first steps in the Tête d’Or Park, she grew up at the same time as Lyon developed. She loves this city in constant movement, and as the Communications Manager of ONLYLYON, she is proud of contributing to the enhancement of Lyon’s reputation and international renown.

Emmanuelle sysoyev

A proud Lyon native, she was educated at Sciences Po and then gained experience at the National Assembly. She relies on her international background to convince journalists around the world to cover Lyon, and give the city the media presence it deserves.

sonia Abid-Dhaoidi

From here and there, she is in charge of the Skyroom, organizing receptions for private and public par tners who promote the Lyon area. She also manages the administrative aspects of the team’s activities.

Gérard Auboeuf

A Lyon native and a former Communications Director, a true networker, he knows the local area’s business world well. He has attracted and retained par tner companies, who are now helping to accelerate the development of ONLYLYON.

Prospecting review China in Aderly’s

sightsChina is one of the priority targets of Aderly in terms of prospecting. the 2015 action plan includes several trips and missions, such as in March, but especially in June, with an official delegation led by Gérard Collomb.

lionel Flasseur

Following a career in marketing (including for the Airpor ts of Lyon), Lionel took the reins at ONLYLYON and works everyday with his team and par tners to sell Lyon worldwide.

Strategic relations with

the United Arab Emirates

Even if the United Arab Emirates are not a prospecting target of Aderly in the same way the United States or China are, the Agency and its partners (International Division of Greater Lyon, the Lyon CCI, the Tourist Office, etc.) do maintain strategic relations with this part of the world.

Indeed, numerous actions have already been implemented (official trips by the mayor, operations promoting Lyon, the Dubai Festival of Lights and the development of flights between Lyon and Dubai with Emirates Airline, and more).

In 2015, Lyon will host the Strategic Franco-Emirates Dialogue that will be held in late May in our metropole. The objective of this forum is to increase French exports to and investment in the Emirates, encourage Emirate investment in France and contribute to joint development projects with third-party countries.

Lyon will focus on the investment aspects, with the goal of convincing Emirate funds to invest in our local area by organizing meetings with regional companies.

ZO

OM

The mission conducted in March by Aderly, accompanied by Greater Lyon, the International CCI and the New Franco-Chinese Institute of Lyon, went to the cities of Canton, Shanghai and Beijing and addresses several challenging issues.

- The consolidation of relations between Lyon and Canton in terms of politics, business, tourism and universities. In 2013, the two cities celebrated the 25th anniversar y of their twinning. For example, this collaboration takes the shape of Canton joining LUCI (Lighting Urban Community International) in 2002. This is an association of cities and businesses concerned by lighting, created at Lyon’s initiative. Or of numerous events to promote the cultural institutions and players of both cities.

- Meeting with prospects with potential investment plans in the Lyon area, as well as with Chinese companies that are already present in our local area. Indeed, China ranks 6th among foreign countries investing in Rhône-Alpes.

- The search for sponsors of the New Franco-Chinese Institute of Lyon to finance this site, a strong symbol of Franco-Chinese relations. Indeed, with its establishment in 1921 as the only Chinese university outside of China, Lyon played a key role in disseminating Chinese culture, not only in France, but in Europe as well. With this move, the new institute aims to consolidate a par tnership with Sun Yat-Sen University in Canton, and with Chinese companies.

- The organization of an event to promote Lyon and its advantages, by mobilizing the ONLYLYON Ambassadors present in China.

- Support for the delegation from Lyon-based SMEs and SMIs with an expor t-based development strategy, thanks to the exper tise provided by the international division of the Lyon CCI, in par ticular.

They chose Lyonover the past few months, many companies have received Aderly’s assistance to set up for business or grow in the lyon area. Here are a few examples.

EvErnotE: WHEn tHE GrEEn ElEPHAnt MEEts tHE rED lIon!The American startup from Silicon Valley (California) chose Lyon for the creation of its French office and an Android R&D centre, in particular for the rich pool of talents in software development to be found in this area.

The company received help from Aderly, in par ticular in their search for premises adapted to their business needs, for advice on human resources, and to get a foothold in the business ecosystem of Lyon.

Star ted up in 2008, Evernote has 370 employees and boasts more than one million users worldwide. The company has developed a smar t platform that enables users to manage all of their productions on their smar tphone or tablet, by tagging them directly or retrieving them later on their computer.

The application offers a simple, efficient and user-friendly system for capturing information in the form of notes, images, videos, or web pages, as well as bookmarking web pages, recording a vocal memo, saving a photo, creating lists, scheduling reminders, etc.

Two-thirds of Evernote users use it for work. This is why the star tup recently set up a version for companies and is currently seeking to accelerate its innovation.

GErMAn CoMPAny KnoEll MovEs to lyonEurope’s largest supplier of Regulatory Affairs ser vices for Agro-Chemicals, Biocides, Industrial Chemicals, REACH, Veterinar y Pharmaceuticals and Medical devices - Dr Knoell Consult of Germany - created its new subsidiar y “Knoell France” in Lyon-Vaise in 2014.

Lyon, and the Rhône Alpes Region, was chosen as it is one of the most important centres for the pharmaceutical, chemical and agrochemical industries in France, with a great potential for clients in and around the city. The French subsidiar y will complement a group structure that already counts 460 employees in ten countries worldwide, including the US, China and South-East Asia.

The goal is to establish regulatory exper tise in France from which we can develop and expand in response to the specific requirements of French companies and international companies with operations in France.

The Lyon area has ambitions to become a centre of excellence in the fields of chemistr y and the environment, two of Knoell’s founding areas or business, and so with the many advantages that the city offers to new enterprises it was a natural choice of location. With the invaluable help of Ader ly in finding offices and recruiting staff the Knoell group is confident of the future of its subsidiar y in France.

Lyon’s strong background in humanitarian organi-zations, with the presence of renowned NGOs and associations such as Handicap International (global headquarters), convinced Entrepreneurs du Monde to choose Lyon for the location of its headquarters, which was previously based in Poitiers.

The mission of Entrepreneurs du Monde is to improve the living conditions of people in developing countries. It currently works with 15,000 women and men in 12 countries of West Africa, the Caribbean and Asia.

The actions of the NGO are structured around 3 areas: developing social microfinance, by providing financial and socioeconomic services to micro-entrepreneurs; developing social entrepreneurship, by working with local vendors and distributors to train them and help them promote crucial goods and services; and providing suppor t for the creation of microbusinesses, by giving priority to businesses with high social and environmental added value.
