• News Speakers Adds Three Papers to Program I N ADDITION to the "complete" program of 55 technical papers announced in the Septeinber issue of the Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, there will actu- ally be three more according to the chairman, W. Essentially all of the papers will describe original research. Exhibit space is in charge of llenry G. Salomon of L. A. Salonmn and Bro., New York. Hotel chairman F. B. White of the Foster Wheeler Corporation, assisted by J. J. Geminder of Chas. Pfizer and Company, urges ilmnediate reservations direct with the :New Yorker. Gener.d entertainment will include the Sunday mixer, a cocktail party Monday given by l)istillation Products Industries, and the dinner dan(.e Tuesday. The ladies, with Mrs. E. A. Lawrence ot' Port Washington, N. Y., as chairman, will tour the United Nations building and have luncheon in the l)eleg'ttCs l,ounge. Tuesday they will have a breakfast-fashion show at Altman's and take a boat trip around Manhattan Island. Wednesday is left open for small group trips with hostess guides. An attendance of 800 is expected by the co-chairmen, D. S. Bolley of the Baker Castor Oil Company, Bayonne, N. J., and Mr. Lawrence of the Colgate-Palmolive Com- pany, Jersey City, N. J. Various committees will meet during the convention, also the Governing Board with R. W. Bates presiding. 3_5 YearsAdo The Journal of Oil and Fat Industries as a quarterly ceased to exist with the October issue, according to an announcement in the October 1925 issue of the Journal, and becomes a monthly magazine with Miller Freeman of New York, San Francisco, and Seattle, as publisher: "to Messrs. Clnff and Morrison the Society is indebted for this arrangement, which will give the members a monthly magazine, without any of the responsibility for its financing." The editor adds in a "Bon Voyage" note that "it may be a bit harder to fill a nmnthly with all high-grade articles by men such as C. A. Browne, George S. Jamieson, Arthur Holmes, Glen Pickard, Dr. Wesson, and others who have been our contributors in the past, but it can be done if the whole Society is heartily behind their official organ." The new Zoom 70 Stereoscope is announced by Bausch and Lomb Inc., Rochester, N.Y., as the first instrument of its type to incorporate zoom magnification in a stereoscope for photo interpretation. Stirton, Eastern Regional Research Labo- ratory, Philadelphia, Pa. The presentations should cover original work and should be free of the advertising or promotional approach. They should not be based on secret or restricted information which might require a very general treatment that would impair their value. This announcement is presented very early to permit adequate time for preparation and completion of in-process research and to form the basis of an integrated program of activities in this area. A later notice will indicate ab- stract and paper deadlines, giving further detail.
