What are integers? Integers are considered a “family” of numbers. They are all whole numbers that are positive, negative, or zero!!

and a YELLOW paper will be worth one

positive.

?ZERO! A positive and a negative cancel

each other out!

Three of the negatives cancel out with three of the positives, leaving us with one positive. So the answer is 1!

Four of the negatives cancel out with four of the positives, leaving us with three positives. So the answer is 3!

Three of the positives cancel out with three of the negatives, leaving us with three negatives. So the answer is -3!

Nothing cancels!! If you combine two negatives and three negatives,

then you are left with five negatives. So the answer is -5!

When we add, the sign of the bigger numbers wins!!

Five is bigger than three. Five is positive so our answer will be
