CLARFICATIONS:

1. The services shall include, but not be limited to, dismantling the tank (including the removing the

tank top) and replacing all the fluids.

2. Shall all the hoses be Streamline?

A. The five 30’ hoses listed under specifications should all be Streamline.

3. Can the work be completed inside the fire stations?

a. Work shall be done at same locations as the pre-bid inspections, but subject to change

depending on weather or other circumstances.

solicitation and amendment numbers. Failure of your acknowledgment to be received at the Purchasing

Office prior to the hour and date of the opening may result in rejection of your offer. If by virtue of this

amendment you desire to change an offer already submitted, such change may be made by letter,

provided such letter makes reference to the solicitation and this amendment and is received prior to the

opening hour and date specified.

SPECIFICATIONS

It is the intent of County of Lexington to award a contract to an authorized South Carolina dealer for

Hurst Jaws of Life for the following:

Service of all pumps, hose sets and tools

Service to include all pumps, hose sets and tools to be properly and completely flushed of

old fluid and fluid replaced with new Hurst fluids per manufacturer’s specifications. All

fluids must be compatible with all pumps, hose sets and tools.

All pump pressures to be checked and adjusted if possible – depending on age and wear

of pistons.

All MOC Cutters and X-Tractor Cutters to be broken down, cleaned, greased and torque

to manufacturer’s specifications.

All control valves checked, cleaned and tightened

** Pigtails replaced as necessary

All tools without Streamline Connections will be converted to assure all tools have streamline

connections

Two (2) MOC Ultra Cutters will have blade sets replaced with new Hurst MOC II blade sets

Supply five (5)30’ hose sets

The entire contract will be awarded to a single vendor that is an authorized South Carolina dealer for

Hurst Jaws of Life. All service work will be done by personnel certified to do said work by Hurst Jaws of

Life. Service and Repairs must be done as required per NFPA 1936 “Standard on Powered Rescue Tools”

2010 Edition. Only Hurst Jaws of Life fluids and replacement parts are allowed. No Alternates or

Approved Equals allowed.

Bidder will be required to attend a mandatory pre-bid to discuss the bid process. Bidders will then be

required to visit each fire station with Hurst Jaws of Life Equipment. Bidders will visit fire stations with a

representative of Lexington County Logistics Division on a schedule developed by the Logistics Division.

A second mandatory meeting will be scheduled with bidders to assure all bidders have evaluated the same

equipment and would be performing the same levels of service and repairs to the same equipment prior to

submitting a bid.

Service work to be done over a period of three (3) days at three (3) fire station locations to be determined

by the Fire Service. Hurst Jaws of Life equipment will all be in-service prior to service and will not be

allowed to be taken out of service longer than the time required on service dates to perform service and

replace couplings and blade sets. Vendor awarded bid will be required to have sufficient staff, fluids,

couplings, blades, tools and equipment on site at the date of each service day to complete the service

scheduled for that date. The following are the station locations and the list of equipment to be serviced:
