Adams County Trauma Informed Care Training: A Perceptual Change to Begin the Movement

In September 2013:• A contract was created with Denver

Children’s Advocacy Center and Dr. Jerry Yager to provide Trauma Informed Care to our community partners.

To date more than 170 individuals where trained from:

• School Personnel• CASA’s• GAL's• Probation and Diversion• County Caseworkers• Agency providers• Foster and Adoptive parents• Other attendees

Alchemy Visual Mapping Project

In October 2013: • The Adams County team brought

together a small group of individuals to design our county map and vision to achieve educational stability for our youth

• DRUM ROLL PLEASE:

Results Learning Academic Advocate Program Contract

• 12 youth between 12-17 years old, who are in foster care were selected to receive this service.

• Each youth receives academic advocate tutoring from January 2014-May 2014.

• Each youth is individually matched with an advocate so a connection and supportive relationship can be created.

• All areas of academic support are addressed, as well as executive functioning skills to promote success.

• The academic support is conducted in the foster home, in the school, or in both places.

In December 2013

Adams 12 Incentive Program and Teacher Stipend Program

• Adams 12 created an incentive program for youth in foster care to promote academic success and stability

• Adams 12 took the lead on reimbursing teachers for attending the Trauma Informed Training sessions

• Adams 12 hosted all of the Trauma Informed Training sessions in 2013-2014

In January 2014

More to come…• We still have 3 more trauma

informed care trainings scheduled for 2014

• In April, we will be bringing back everyone who experience these trainings for a large group decision on what has worked and where we go from here.
