Actor Choice Analysis!

For my trailer, I only realistically need to use one/two people for the entire thing. This is because my film narrative centres entirely around the lead female protagonist, (who actually turns out to be the antagonist in the story too, however this is not seen as with professional trailers only the starting equilibrium and disequilibrium are seen to entice the audience to attend a screening of a film at a cinema) so therefore any 'extras' will not be required. I also feel that by using limited characters, it increases the creepiness factor as it will appear as if there isn't any other individuals in that location which, because of my narrative idea, may be due to the fact that the entire thing occurred in the character's imagination. Of course, this idea of whether or not the whole event was real or not would be left ambiguous in the trailer to match other professional trailers and to match the codes and conventions of a Psychological Horror film.

One choice for my lead role which is a young female character is Ashleigh who is 17 years old. I feel that she would be a good choice for my trailer casting because she lives local to myself and the location (s) I will be filming on. Also, she looks younger for her age so this may be beneficial for my narrative as it would naturally be harder to think of a sweet and young looking girl to actually be insane etc. However, I also think that she may be a slightly wrong casting choice because of how young she does look and because she has had no previous experience similar to this project of mine and also because she may not be able to act according to my plan and direction in a reasonably realistic way. This could therefore risk the professionalism of my product once finished.

The other choice for the role is Chloe. She is the same age as my previous choice but looks older and more mature. This could actually help my product as it may be seen as less 'student-made' if my cast looks older. Also, her personality is more dramatic so therefore she may be more able to act than Ashleigh and would therefore make it seem less forced and more realistic too. A downside to Chloe as an actor choice is that she lives further away to me/the locations than Ashleigh, but there is a bus that bridges the two locations so she would have easy access to transport.

Overall, I feel that Chloe may be the better choice to play my protagonist however, I could use Ashleigh as my understudy so therefore if any issues occur with my first choice, I have a back-up option available.
