    Korean Spirit & Culture Promotion Project

    In collaboration with the Korean Spirit & Culture Promotion Project, the YeoksamGlobal Village Center is organizing an event where you can experience the Koreanspirit and culture.

    Participants will watch DVDs about Koreas cultural artifacts & modern Korea and

    learn about Korean customs and etiquettes. In addition, participants will be given anopportunity to experience Koreas traditions such as sabae, New Years tradition ofbowing to the elders in hanbok (Korean traditional clothes). You will be provided witha Korean traditional dessert as well.

    It will be a good chance to experience Korea.

    Yeoksam Global Village Center will begin a new term of free Korean classes asfollows:

    There is no placement test for absolute beginners but they are

    required to visit the center during our business hours (9am to6pm) for the application. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Applicants may visit the office in person and take a placementtest. Reservation is required.

    A student who is absent more than 3 times in a month will no longer be allowed to bein class. If your schedule allows you to take the course only once a week, you cannotjoin the class from the start.

    If classes are all full before the application period is over, the applicants will be on awaiting list, if they want. During the first two weeks of the course there aresometimes drop-outs. These spots will be filled with people from the waiting list inthe order they signed up.

    Business Korean Class

    The Yeoksam Global Village Center will begin a new term of free Business Koreanclass on Friday, March 4, 14:00~15:15.

    The course is mainly designed for foreigners who need to interact with Koreancolleagues in office environments. This course is for students who are atintermediate to upper intermediate levels.

    Course description: covers various situations that can happen in any workplace inKorea. Students will be able to learn office vocabulary, how to write emails andresumes in Korean, as well as Korean office culture.

    1. Duration: March 4 ~ June 24, 2011 (4 months, every Friday)

    2. Location: Seminar room at the Yeoksam Global Village Center3. Registration period: February 14 - 244. Application procedure: Must be done in person at the Yeoksam GVC5. Fees: Course is free of charge (Textbooks must be purchased by students.)6. Necessary documents: A passport sized color photo of the applicant (size: 3x4cm)7. Admission will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.8. Availability: Between 10 and 12 students

    During the course, if a student is absent more than 5 times, the student will no longerbe allowed to participate in the class. If your schedule does not allow you to attend

    the course regularly, you may not be accepted into the class.

    TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean)Preparation Class

    TOPIKTOPIK, or Test of Proficiency in Korean, is a Korean language test which is offeredtwice annually to foreigners in Korea and those who study Korean in other countries.TOPIK is administered by the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation.

    The Yeoksam Global Village Center will begin a new term of free TOPIK class onFriday, March 4, which will run from 10:45 to12:00. The course aims at foreignerswho wish to obtain the TOPIK level 3 or 4.

    Volunteer at St. Marys Hospital

    Volunteer at St. Marys Hospital with Yeoksam Global Village Center!

    On Saturday, February 19 from 10:00 to12:00, the volunteer group will pay its 12thvisit to St. Marys Hospital in Gangnam to help with the preparation of medical kitsand to spend time with young patients.

    Those of you who have interest in music, magic, arts or different recreation to sharewith children are welcome to join us!! (No prior experience required)

    Four Gracious Plants (Sagunja)

    Painting Class

    Sagunja means four gracious plants: plum, orchid, chrysanthemum, and bamboo.

    They represent the four seasons, spring, summer, autumn, and winter respectively.

    It is a painting or decoration incorporating all four plants. They are most typicallydepicted in traditional ink and wash painting. The four gracious plants are animportant subject matter in learning to paint in the Asian traditions, as they embodyall the basic brush styles.

    The Yeoksam Global Village Center is organizing an art class where you can learnhow to paint Sagunja. Come and experience exciting Korean traditional art!
