1.-INTRODUCTION:

Since 2010 Harapan Project collaborates with the government of Dompu in the execution of itsactivitiesandprograms.Inthissense,therearetwoagreementswiththeRegentoftheProvinceofDompu,thefirstoneincollaborationwiththeMinistryofHealthandthesecondwiththeMinistryofEducation. The agreementhasbeen renovated year after yearwith total satisfaction coming fromthe local government, and the local government has decided to donate a land this year for thebuildingofoursocio-educationalCentre.

During this year,HarapanProject has continueddeveloping its activities in 5of the villagesof thedistrictofHu’u:Nandagoro,Ncangga,Hu’u,LakeyPeakandNanggas.WecarryoutHarapanProjectactivities,basicallyconsisting intwoworking lines (socio-educationalandsanitary) ineachof thesesmalltowns.

Inthemorning,theprojectteammembers(theDirectorandvolunteers)attendhealthneedsfromlocals, bymonitoring the health of all the ill persons. Every time it is needed, we directly attendpeople who need of specific cures in wounds to prevent infections to occur, given that theenvironmentinwhichtheylivemakesthemveryvulnerabletothispossibility.OnceortwiceaweekthosewhoneedhospitalcarearetakentotheHospitalofthecityofDompu(onehourandahalfbycar),takingcareofthecostsofthemedicalconsultancy,themedicaltestsandthetreatmentneededineachcase.Inthecaseofchildrenpopulation,wetakecareofsurgerycostsaswell.In the afternoons, the teammoves to the different towns to carry out the educational activities,whichtakeplaceintheexistentlocalschools,asforthemomentwedonotcountwithaCentreofour own. Amongst other courses, classes about learning how to read and write, English,mathematics, history and geography are given. Moreover, we also implement workshops relatedwithhygiene,health,environmentalissues,andcivicandprofessionalorientation.As well as the programs previously mentioned, we also cover clothing and nutrition needs bydistributing clothes and food amongst the most vulnerable. Moreover, help is also provided inemergencysituationssuchasnaturaldisasters.WehavealsobeenworkingwithEuropeanhospitals todesignamedicalprogramto sendmedicalequipmentandresourcestothemedicalcentersandhospitalsofDompu.

1.-ACTIVITIESREPORT:Duringthecourseof2015/2016,HarapanProjecthasdevelopedalltheprogramsthathadbeenset for the year. Each of such programs had been carefully designed previously, taking intoconsideration the goals that the Project pretend to achieve, in order to improve the livingconditionsofthepeopleofthedistrictofHu’uintheislandofSumbawa.Afterdoingaprogramresearch, inwhichthenecessitiesof thepeopleandtheavailablemeansandresourcesoftheprojectweretakenintoconsideration,thedifferentprogramsandactivitieswere designed. The aim of such programs of activities was to be as efficient and effective aspossiblewiththeavailablemeans.Inthefollowingsectionsallthementionedprogramsthathavebeenimplementedinthelastyearwillbedescribed.A.-HEALTHASSISTANCEPROGRAM:Thisbasicattentionprogram iscomposedofa seriesofactivities, interventionsandprocedureswhich goal is to contribute to the promotion of health, illness prevention, public healthsurveillanceandcontroloftheriskfactorsamongtheHu’upopulation.Theinterventiontechniquesusedare:-Personalsemi-structuredinterview-Non-structuredinterview-Activelistening-Observation-Homevisits-Healthinterventions-VisitstohospitalsTheactivitiescarriedoutduringthecourse2015/2016forthisprogramarethefollowing:1.-CollaborationwithEuropeanHospitals:DuringthemonthofApril,wereceivedthevisitofDr.BlancofromtheDornbuschHospital inFrankfurt(Germany),withwhomwearecollaboratingtoprovide the Medical Centre of Rasabou and the Hospital of Dompu with the needed medicalequipment and supplies. A visit to both centres was conducted in order to understand theirspecificneeds.Moreover,severalmeetingswereheldwiththegovernmentinordertoensurethedeliveryofsuchsuppliestothecentres.

2.-WaterPurificationProgram:Atotalof15waterpurifyingbucketshavebeendeliveredinthedifferentareasofHu’u.Thesedevicesareeasytooperateandtoclean,andtheycanbeusedforupto2years,ensuringhencethatthepeopleofsaidareawillhaveaccesstopotablewaterforthenext2years.

3.-Hospital Assistance:Eachweek 2 transfers of ill people that showed severe symptoms andwhomneededmedicalassistanceweremadetothehospital,includingcasesofbothchildrenandadults.Sincesaidpeople lacked theeconomic resources toconfront thecostsof transportationandmedical services, Harapan Project took care of all the payments. 52 transfers weremadethroughouttheyeartotheHospitalofDompuand217peoplereceivedmedicalassistanceduringthecourseof2015/2016insuchmedicalcentres.

4.- Distribution of Medicines: Once the problem was diagnosed and the treatment wasprescribed by an Indonesian doctor, the needed medicines have been distributed, and theevolutionof thepatienthasbeen followedup toensurea full recovery.Thedistributionof themedicineshasbeenconductedbyHarapanProjectduetothelackofeconomicresourcesofthepatientswhichmade themunable topay for said treatments.A totalof364peoplehavebeensuppliedwithmedicinesthroughoutthecourseofthe2015/2016projectyear.5.- Medical Cures:Medical cures have been done to people with minor injuries who did notrequiretransfertoahospital.Atotalof128cureshavebeendone.6.- Payment of surgery interventions in theDompuHospital:Wehave covered the costs of atotalof8surgeryinterventionsforchildren.

7.- Transfers to Bali and LombokHospitals:During 2015we took Idris, a child of the town ofNcangga to a hospital in the island of Bali. Idris had fallen off a tree and as consequence, hadbroken and dislocated his elbow. The surgery performed on his arm was successful and he isrecovering themobilityofhiselbowdaybyday.He iscurrentlyback inhishometownsafeandsound,andisbacktoschool.Wecoveredallthecostsoftransportation,hospitaltreatmentandaccommodationforhimandhismotherandgrandmother.

In2016,wetookIpuababyfromthetownofHu’uwhosufferedfromanintestinalherniatothehospital.HesuccessfullyreceivedsurgeryintheHospitalSanglahinBali.Wecoveredthecostsoftransportationandthehospital intervention,aswellastheaccommodationforbothIpuandhismother. Also that year, Idris was taken to the hospital again to complete the neededmedicalcheckups.

Furthermore,duringthiscoursewecontinuedcollaboratingwiththeNGOKolewaFoundation,afoundationfromtheNetherlandsspecializedinchildrenwithmalformations.Wetookatotalof6patients(Ikhsan,Abbas,Putri,David,IkbalandMuhammad)totheirinstallationsinBali.

8.-HealthandHygieneWorkshops:Everyweek,wecarryout theoretical andpractical trainingworkshopsboth for theadultsandchildrenonadequatehygienichabits, illnesspreventionandhealthpromotion.Weimparted50hoursperyearandatotalof288beneficiariesattendedthem.9.-ChidMalnutrition:Thisworkshophada12hours’durationandwasimplementedonlyinthe3mostdisfavoredtowns.Allmothersofchildrenunder4andthemselvesattendedtheworkshop.Measures such as weight and height were taken to all children in order to measure themalnutrition tax of the children population. We provided mothers with training on healthyfeeding.Thetotalnumberofmothersattendingtheworkshopwasof48,with48children.

10.-MalariaProgram:Thisworkshophada80hoursduration.Itsgoalwastotrainpopulationonmalaria contagionandmedical interventiononcediagnosed.Wedistributedmosquitonets andrepellenttothemostneededpeople.Thetotalnumberofassistantswasof483people.

11.-PersonalCleanliness:Thisworkshophada20hours’durationandwascarriedoutforthe5towns.Itsgoalwastotrainthepopulationontheimportanceofpersonalcleanlinessanditsdirectrelationwithhealthissues.45peopleattendedit.

12.- IllnessTreatment: Thisworkshophadadurationof20hoursandwasconducted for the5towns.Itsgoalwastotrainthepopulationonthediagnosisandtreatmentofthemostcommonillnesses.Thetotalnumberofassistantswasof37people.

13.-WoundsTreatment:Thisworkshophada20hours’durationandwasconductedfor4towns.Itsgoalwastotrainthepopulationontheimportanceofcuringthewoundscorrectly.Thetotalnumberofassistantswasof46people.

B.-EDUCATIONALPROGRAM:Thisprogramwasbornoutof theneed topromote the importanceofeducationandofprovidingawareness on it to the Hu’u population. Furthermore, it intends to strengthen the existenteducational system on its scope, access and quality, which are obtained through the training ofteachers and implementation of flexible models to attract students to the system and the activesearch of children out of the system. The program countedwith one teacher and volunteerswhotaught4hoursdaily,sevendaysaweek inoneofthe3 localcentres.Theeducationalteamassiststhreetimesaweektooneofthe3centresandeachday4hoursofteachingondifferenttopicsaretaught:alphabetization,generalcultureandEnglish.

The2015/2012activitieswithinthisprogramwere:

1.-ITClasses:In2015wereceivedadonationof10personalcomputersfromEUROHOPEwithwhichwehavecreatedanITcourseforchildrenandadults.150hoursofthiscoursehavebeentaught.Atotalamountof400personshaveassistedtheminthecourseofthe2015/2016projectyear.

2.-Alphabetizationandgeneral culturecourses: In thisprogram,200hoursonalphabetizationandgeneralculturehavebeentaught,andbothchildrenandadultsattendedthem.Theteachingwasdonethroughtheoretical-practicalworkshops.Thegoalofthesecourseswastoachievethealphabetizationofpopulation,learningofreadingandwriting,calculationsandgeneralcultureonhistory and geography, and science. A total of 3.100 people attended these courses, includingchildrenandadults,duringthe2015/2016projectyear.

3.-EnglishCourses: Inthisprogram,200hoursayearofEnglishweretaught,andbothchildrenandadultsattendedthem.Theteachingwasdonethroughtheoretical-practicalworkshops.ThegoalofthiscoursewastoachieveabasiclevelofEnglishbythelocalpopulation,withthegoalofameliorating the exploitation of the little tourism already existing in the island thereforeincrementing the economic opportunities of its population. A total of 2.700 people attendedthesecourses,includingchildrenandadults,duringthe2015/2016projectyear.

4.-HandCraftWorkshops:Inthisprogram,100hoursperyearofhandcraftcoursesweretaught,andbothchildrenandadultsattendedthem.Theteachingwasdonethroughtheoretical-practicalworkshops.Thegoalofthiscoursewastostimulatethecreativityandpsychomotorsystemoftheassistants.Thefollowingactivitieswerecarriedout:elaborationofdollswithcorncobs,painting,papiroflexia,recycling,etc.Atotalof1.200peopleattendedthesecourses,includingchildrenandadults,duringthe2015/2016projectyear.

5.-SportsWorkshops:Inthisprogram,200hoursperyearofsportingactivitieswerecarriedout,andbothchildrenandadultsattendedthem.Thetrainingwasdonethroughtheoretical-practicalworkshops. The goal of these activities was the stimulation of the psychomotor system,coordination and balance, and the promotion of teamwork values, corporal expression andsportsmanship. The following activities were carried out: soccer, skate, volleyball, surfing,swimmingandyoga.Atotalof800peopleattendedtheseactivitiesduringthe2015/2016projectyear.

6.-AccessoriesWorkshop:Inthisprogram,40hoursperyearofaccessoriescoursesweretaught,andbothchildrenandadultsattendedthem.Thetrainingwasdonethroughtheoretical-practicalworkshops. The goal of this course was to promote creativity. A total of 600 beneficiariesattendeditduringthe2015/2016projectyear.

7.- Art Workshop: In this program, 200 hours per year of art courses were taught, and bothchildren and adults attended them. The training was done through theoretical-practicalworkshops. The goal of these courses was to promote creativity. A total of 800 beneficiariesattendedthemduringthe2015/2016projectyear.

8.-ArtCompetition:Throughoutthe2015/2016projectyear30ArtcompetitionshavebeenheldinthedifferentschoolsoftheHu’uarea.Atotalof950kidsparticipatedinsuchcompetitions.

9.- Environmental EducationWorkshop In this program, 100 hours per year of environmentaleducation courseswere taught, and both children and adults attended them. The trainingwasdonethroughtheoretical-practicalworkshops.Thegoalofthesecourseswasthelearningonthewastemanagementandenvironmentalcare.Besidestheoreticalclasses,wecarriedoutactivitieson beach cleaning and elaboration of helpful instruments fromplastic recycling. A total of 700beneficiariesattendedtheseactivitiesduringthe2015/2016projectyear.10.-CrossTournament:InNovember2015,anationalCrosstournamentforkidstookplaceinthevillageofAdu.We created a teamwith50 kids from thedifferent villagesofHu’u and they allparticipatedintheevent.

11.-KidsmeetinginBeachActivity:AdayfullofactivitiesinthebeachwasorganizedforallthechildrenfromthevillagesofHu’u.Around400kidsjoinedusonthisactivityinwhichwespentthedaydoingseveralgames,activitiesandcourses.Thegoalsofthisdayweretopromotethevaluesofteamwork,sportsandfellowship.

12.-SurfContest:Wecarriedoutasurfcontest.Atotalof54childrenofthedifferenttownsofHu’uparticipated.Thegoalofthisactivitywastopromotethevaluesofteamwork,sportsandfellowship.

13.- SurfingProgram:During thecourseof the2015/2016yearwehavecarriedoutaprogramwiththeaimofhelpingthechildrentohaveaccesstosports.Inthiscasewehelpedthemtohavetheopportunity to surf.Wehave repairedall theboardsof theareaatnocost foroneyear tomakesurethateveryonehadachancetopracticethesport.Wecalculatethataround300peoplehaveusedthisservice.

14.- Soccer League: During the course 2015/2016 we organized a soccer league among thedifferenttownsofHu’u:twoleaguesforunder10yearsoldchildren,andoneforunder5yearsold,withatotalof12teamsand131participants.Thegoalofthisactivitywasthepromotionofsportandthevaluesofteamwork,sportsmanshipandfellowship.

C.-ASSISTENCIALPROGRAM:HarapanProjectcarriesoutaprogramwiththegoalofgeneralassistancetobeneficiarieswhosespecificneedsrequireit.Themethodologiesandinterventiontechniquesusedarethefollowing:-Semi-structuredpersonalinterview-Non-structuredinterview-Activelistening-Observation-HomevisitsWecarriedoutthefollowingactivities:1. Clothes distribution:We distributed clothes annually among the families of the threemostpoortownsoftheHu’uprovince:Nanggas,NcanggaandNangadoro.Thegoalofthisactivityistocover the need for warm clothes amongst the most needed ones. We elaborated a list of allfamilieswiththeirmembersandage,andwedistributedpackagesofclothesthankstotheaidofprivatedonors.Wedistributedclothestoatotalof800people.

2.-Feeding:Wehavecarriedoutactivitiesoffooddistributionincaseofemergencyorincaseofminors in situation of familiar inattention. We have provided food to 350 minors during thecourse2015/2016.3.Hygieneproductsdistribution:Wehavedistributedhygieneandpersonalcleanlinessproductstothe50mostneededfamiliesoftheHu’ucommunity.Thegoalofthisactivitywastoprovidetheneeded resources for an adequate hygiene. We distributed soap, tooth and hair brushes,shampoo,toothpasteandlicecombs.4.Personalcleanlinessforminors:Wecarriedout10punctualactionsofpersonalcleanlinessforminors and lice eradication during the course 2015/2016. The goal of this activity was theeducationonpersonalcleanlinesstechniquesandhairdeworming.Weattended48children.5.-DeliveryofFurniture intheSchoolofNangadoro:30chairsand10tablesweredelivered intheSchoolofNangadoroduringtheprojectyear2015/2016.Theaimbehindthiswastoensuretheavailabilityoftheneededfurnituretobeabletoproceedwiththeeducationalactivitiesoftheschool.

E.-LEISUREANDSPARETIMEPROGRAMHarapanProjectestablishesdifferentleisureandsparetimeactivities,destinedbothtoadultandchildren population, with the goal of promoting an adequate socialization amongst itsparticipants. It is about potentiating reunion and distention spaces to foster healthy, free andintergenerational relationships. Sometimes foreign volunteers participate, working as well oninterculturalaspects.Themethodologyandinterventiontechniquesusedare:-Semi-structuredpersonalinterview-Non-structuredinterview-Activelistening-Observation-HomevisitsThecarriedoutactivitiesduringthe2015/2016projectyearwere:1.-ChildrenBirthdayCelebrations:Wehavecelebratedthebirthdaysof3childrenwithoutfamilywhosesocio-familiarsituationhaspreventedthemfromevercelebratingthisimportantdate.Thegoalistoachievetheintegrationofthesechildrenwithinthepopulationandtheiracceptanceamongstadultsasmembersoftheircommunity, even if they do not have a family. Many times these children have conflictivebehaviours as a consequence of the lack of educationalmeasures, causing the rejection of thecommunity.Furthermore,weintendtostrengthenthechildmakinghim/hertheprotagonistforoneday,fosteringhis/herself-esteemandsocialintegration2.- Game Time: Once a month we promote meetings of the child of the different towns todedicatethemtoplayinggames.Weusethetoysprovidedbyprivatedonors.

3.- Meeting with Local People: We have had 4 lunches as reunions to foster an adequateintegrationof the teamProjectwith the localpopulation.These lunchesalso intendtocreateahealthy environment topromote relations amongst themas a community. In theseencounterswedebatetopicsofinteresttoallofthemandwegeneratealternativestoproblems.Ifwetakeintoaccount that townsdonotcountwithanykindofassociation,wearehopefullygeneratingtherootsofafutureassociationmovement.130peopleintotalattendedthesemeetings.
