EAGLES NEST RanchThe Thrill of the HuntThe Eagles Nest name first appeared in the 1840s when fur trappers noted the presence of large numbers of eagles, which still winter along the river at this location. Eagles Nest Ranch is one of the oldest cattle ranches in Colorado. Today, it is a working Wagyu Beef ranch with farming and cattle operations, and The Broadmoor restaurants are the exclusive recipients of this superior product.

Located on Eagles Nest Ranch, The Hemingway Lodge is 60 miles northeast of Denver along the South Platte River. Large fireplaces bordered with Native American artifacts and Western art create the design format for the lodge. Ranch-grown beef,

expertly prepared, followed by billiards, or just enjoying a drink and good conversation in the Western bar, often completes a day spent on the private 9-hole golf course or shooting in the field.

Designed to provide a complete recreational experience, Hemingway offers a myriad of activities sure to peak every interest. The adventuresome can explore the area on horseback, bicycle or on foot. Anglers can hone their craft in the private ponds, and marksman can test their aim on the trap course and hunt for a variety of upland birds with highly trained hunting dogs.

Featuring 325,000-acres, with unparalleled private access to the North Platte River, Riverbend Lodge is the perfect place to host a summer fishing trip, whether just for a few hours or all day.

Upland game birds are also common on the Overland Trail Ranch. The Lodge has its own highly trained hunting dogs to accompany guests and guides on their fall excursions, and the property includes an on-site outdoor shooting range. Groups may also access Old Baldy Club for golf, horseback riding, float trips, hiking, dining and more.

THE RANCH AT EMERALD VALLEY

Redefining Rustic Voted the #1 resort in Colorado in the 2017 Conde Nast Readers Poll, The Ranch at Emerald Valley combines a unique retreat offering refined luxury with the rustic charm and inspiration of a wilderness enclave. Escape in one of ten beautifully appointed cabins, or the three-bedroom Hill Cabin featuring fireplaces, rich furnishings, and modern amenities. The perfect destination for an intimate getaway or a quintessential vacation for a group, family, or friends.

During your stay at The Ranch, fly fish in pristine mountain lakes, enjoy hiking, bike scenic trails, or explore the mountains on horseback. Unwind by soaking in an outdoor hot tub, sipping a glass of wine on a panoramic terrace, while enjoying the beauty of a Rocky Mountain sunset. These experiences are all accompanied by The Broadmoor’s incomparable luxury and impeccable service.

A dedicated ranch staff and on-site Broadmoor chef elevate this all-inclusive hideaway beyond its 8,200 foot altitude. Farm-to-table cuisine is presented in the main lodge, and all meals and ranch activities are included.

Falconry Program at The BroadmoorFalconers believe the sport began 4,000–5,000 years ago, between Asia and the Middle East. In fact, there is a Mongolian sect of horseman that use Golden Eagles to hunt to this day, providing food and clothing for its families. The falconry program at The Broadmoor provides a history of the sport, explains the importance of raptors and birds of prey to the community, and offers guests a unique chance to partake in flight demos and special photo opportunities. Reservations can be made through Broadmoor Outfitters, Base Camp, and the hotel concierges. Arrangements can also be made to experience a private Falconry presentation at any of our Wilderness properties.

AN ELEVATED PASTBack in 1923, it was called “Camp Vigil” after the mountain that towers high above this historic enclave of private cabins on two pristine lakes. Nestled in a scenic valley, it was Spencer Penrose’s summer retreat, with parties and dancing to the music of The Redcoat Band. Jack Dempsey even trained here in 1926 while preparing for his title fight with Gene Tunney. Over the years it saw many uses, but none as diverse and exquisite as the one

it serves today as The Ranch at Emerald Valley.

this Broadmoor version of a wilderness experience. Yes, I could

really get used to this

AN ELEVATED PASTIn 1925, Robert Ripley of “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” dubbed the seven mile road up Cheyenne Mountain “The Crookedest Road in the World.” This wonder of construction led to the truly unique Cheyenne Lodge, built by Spencer Penrose and promoted as a honeymoon retreat, with four rooms, a restaurant, dance floor and curio shop. In the 1936 film called “Curious Colorado”, the announcer declared that the vastness of the surrounding mountains and the views of Pikes Peak made guests feel “infinitely small in their presence.” Though the original lodge is long gone, today’s Cloud Camp pays homage to Penrose’s original dream of showing guests the majesty of the mountains in spectacular 360 degree views that sports what he called, “The most beautiful sunrise in the world.”

AN ELEVATED PASTOriginally homesteaded in 1907 and then used as a small farm until 1931, Ute Trail River Ranch was always a small gem tucked on the banks of the Tarryall River. When the farm could not sustain itself, the owners created a small fishing enclave consisting of a lodge, a long barn and several log guest cabins. While the accommodations were basic, the portion of the Tarryall that ran through the area was known for its excellent fly fishing, attracting anglers from across North America. Now, guests of Fly Fishing Camp can experience much of what visitors did in the 1930s, but with a rustic charm that far exceeds the original resort. Five miles of private stream, and improved waters for trout, produce an exclusive fly fishing experience on an integral part of Colorado’s Gold Medal waters.

FLY FISHING CAMPHook a Big IdeaLocated in the mountains 75 minutes west of The Broadmoor, Fly Fishing Camp is situated along Colorado’s Tarryall River and borders the 120,000 acre Lost Creek Wilderness area. Guests can experience some of the best fishing in Colorado on more than five miles of private waters. The gently winding stream is the perfect, exclusive realm to explore fly fishing. Under the tutelage of Broadmoor professional guides, novice fishing enthusiasts can learn the sport, and seasoned veterans can hone their skills.

Originally a group of seven historic cabins from the early 1900s, The Broadmoor transformed these into rustic, yet well-appointed guest cabins. The picturesque camp is complete with a beautifully restored Main Lodge with a wraparound deck overlooking the river. Creek-to-table meals are enjoyedin this hideaway with other guests each evening.

A wide range of activities are available to guests, including fly tying classes, hiking, horseback riding, learning the anatomy of the stream, lawn games, and evening fires with s’mores and, most importantly, good company.

The Fly Fishing Camp is available for overnight stays, family reunions and meeting retreats. For those looking to enjoy the

outdoors while conducting business, Fly Fishing Camp offers the perfect alternative to the standard, sedate meeting space. The site is well-suited for smaller groups or breakout groups from larger organizations. It offers an extremely intimate and remote setting, offering an unmatched experience to guests, while steeped in Broadmoor luxury and exceptional service.
