Playing Shop
1) Name and create a shop in your house. 2) Create a sign, name tags and cash register in for
your shop. 3) Think about what you will sell in your shop. 4) Create a list of items for sale. Give each item a
price. 5) Practice selling and buying products from your
store.
Try to do this with real coins! Small shop Items could cost 1p, 2p, 5p, 20p, 50p, 1 pound or 2 pounds. Large shop Items might cost: 8p, 15p, 25p 70p etc…
Create an artwork piece using different 2-D shapes.

Phonics Practice! Find out what sounds your child need helps with. Use the resources on the Literacy Page to improve and practice these sounds and your child’s fluency. Practice your speed sounds and alien words. Send an email if you have concerns. Don’t wait!

Phonics Practice DAILY
Year 1 students should continue with daily phonics practice by:
- Practicing Set 2 and set 3 sounds, Use the homemade Set 2 and set 3 sound cards you made! - Reading complex words with multiple syllables, and - Reading alien words.
We would be doing our Year 1 Phonics Check this term and, if we were at school, we would be doubling up the amount of phonics practice we do.

Things to remember when reading complex or new words:
1) Students must FIRST identify the digraphs (special friends) in the words Digraph Ex. ar, ow, ay, Split digraphs = a-e, i-e, o-e, u-e
2) Sound each sound out. Use your finger please! 3) Put it together and read it altogether

Topic Habitats Life-cycles of animals Mini-Beasts
We will finish up our Gardener’s World unit with a culminating “show what you know” activity. Instruction: Make a video discussing and showing about what changes have happened to your garden plants since you planted them. (I haven’t seen enough updates!) OR If you don’t have a garden or plants growing, go for a walk in the nature area around your home and take a video of you describing the trees plants and wildlife in the nearby area. Include knowledge of: Parts of plants, Why and how they grow, What happens when the autumn comes? (Plant life-cycle) How are the plants doing in your garden? Can you name all the parts of the plant? Are there fruits, flowers or vegetables growing? Is there anything not growing that you hoped would grow?

School-Wide Art
Rainbow Rocks Go for a nature walk and find two small stones. Try to find smooth stones. Please paint your 2 stones orange. If you have a gloss or finish, please gloss your stones. (If you do not, don’t worry!) Hang on to the stones until next year.
Butterfly Art
Materials
1) Paper/card 2) Toilet roll 3) Markers or colouring paper 4) Pipe cleaners 5) String
Directions 1) Cut out your wings, size them to your body
and make sure both wings they are the same size.
2) Beautifully decorate the body and the wings.
3) Cut out a face, decorate, and give your butterfly a name.
4) Attach the pipe cleaners 5) Use the string to tie it to your roof while
they fly around. Make a whole family of butterflies.
