ActiveTO: Destination Danforth On May 28, 2020 Council approved ActiveTO, a suite of programs that support the City of Toronto's restart and recovery response to COVID-19. Destination Danforth (Danforth Avenue from Broadview Avenue to Dawes Road) responds to the imminent need for: More room for physical distancing for walking and cycling, support for local businesses by improving access options, an environment created to support expanded patios, and safe cycling infrastructure as an alternative for people who are not comfortable taking transit. People Driving

• Driveway, Side Street and Lane Access: All accesses are maintained.

• Emergency/Utility Vehicles: Vehicles are allowed to enter the bike lane during an emergency or to conduct repairs.

• Parking, Passenger Pickup/Drop off, Loading and Deliveries: Drivers are not allowed to park or stop in the bike lane, except for the purpose of accessible pickup/dropoff. Check for cyclists before opening doors. Park in designated parking zones, and perform loading in designated No Parking or Loading Zones, laneways and side streets.

HOW DO I USE THE NEW COMPLETE STREET?People Cycling

• Passing: Cyclists can pass each other by traveling into the vehicle lane.

• Traffic Signals: Cyclists must obey traffic signals.

• E-bikes/Motorcycles: Scooters/Motorcycles are not allowed in the bike lane.

• Driveways: Cyclists should approach driveways with caution and watch for exiting/entering vehicles.

• Sidewalks: Cyclists (ages 14+) are not allowed to use the sidewalk.

• Expanded Patios: Cyclists should slow down and cycle through expanded patio areas with care.

People Taking Transit

• Transit: Buses and Wheel-trans will operate as normal. Wheel-trans vehicles are allowed to enter the bike lane.

People Using Patios & Public Parklets

• Expanded Patios & Parklets: Sit back, eat/drink well, and enjoy the street!

People Walking

• Crossing: Pedestrians should check the bike lane for oncoming cyclists before crossing. Painted curb extensions have been added at corners with cross streets, where feasible to make road crossings safer.
