Actively Worshipful

Your worship directly affectsYour mission work.

The TYPE of worship required-spiritual/ge

nuine.

John 4:23-24 “Yet a time is coming and has now come when

the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of

worshipers

the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers

must worship in spirit and in truth.”

Definition: To worship is to quicken the conscience by the holiness of God, to feed the mind with the truth of

God, to purge the imagination by the beauty

of

God, to open the heart to the love of God and to devote

the will to the purpose of God. (William Temple)

True worship of God brings us into His presence, which

immediately convicts us of the sin in our

lives.

Before we can go further in worship we have to repent

of our sin.

Unfortunately this is a main reason that many don’t

genuinely worship today.

They refuse to get honest with God.

If we hold onto sin in our life, then that

means we are saying that our sin is more important to us than

God.

This is the definition of an idol-anything you esteem more

important than God.

Kick those idols OUT!

The TRANSFORMATION of spiritual/genuine worship.

Once repentance has come about in

genuine worship God then calls you to come under His

authority.

This means you get out of the drivers seat and go to

the passenger seat.

Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of

God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy

and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to

the

pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Transformed is the same word used to describe the change

from a caterpillar into a butterfly.

Authentic worship always produces the experienced presence of God. People’s

lives are changed in His presence.”-Pastor Ray Jones

“Worship anticipates not only an encounter with God, but also

a clear next word from God. Worship is totally God-

centered! God-focused! Out of worship comes a clearer and more focused relationship of

faith and

obedience with God. Worship is God’s way of developing

character and directing life into the center of His will.” Henry

Blackaby

Isaiah 6

This means our scorecard for worship is not how many

people show up, but how many encounter the transforming presence of God through our

worship.

Does that describe your worship most weeks?

True worship in our large groups spills

over into the community:

1. God is glorified when Christians gather together to

worship Him.

2. People will look over our shoulders to the God of our

experience.

3. Our worship provides a defense for the faith that is not man-made but is God authored

and supernatural.

The time to measure the genuineness of our worship is not at 10:30 on Sunday, but at

8:30 on Monday.
