2. I listened to a nativeFrench speaker andnoted the
phoneticcoding in a way inwhich I couldremember. I also
highlightedspelling points so thatI can listen out forthem in the
future
3. Having noted the native Frenchspeakers pronunciation of the
words Irepeated them in the same way. This helped me to reaffirm
the properpronunciation which I could then use inoral French
classes. Knowing the proper pronunciation alsoallowed me to listen
out for it inlistening exercises However, it did not help me
rememberthe spelling of words. I continued tospell ractionnaire as
reactionairewhich is close but not close enough! Inorder to do well
I need completeaccuracy. I therefore addressed the problems inthe
next slide.
4. First of all I identifiedproblems such as: Masculine or
Feminine? Spelling / grammar points are there accents? Using
highlighters tohighlight the problemsdrew my attention to themand
therefore made iteasier to remember themin the future. The
combination oflistening to the words andlooking at their
spellinghelped assure me of thecorrect way to write it
5. However, I felt I needed to developa way to make sure I knew
thespellings. As a result I looked at the word, listened to the
word, wrote it downand continued to identify theproblems I had
encountered earlyas a means of checking. I then repeatedly wrote
them down:this helped me get used to writing itand further drew my
attention tothe problems such as GENDER,SPELLING and ACCENTS. I
then continued to highlight theproblems I had addressed in orderto
reiterate differences in spellings.
6. As a further check Iused the new vocabactively. Using the

andtherefore easier toremember Again, using colourhighlighters to
checkpreviously identifiedareas were checked
