A long copper cable signal will be slower and weaker the longer the cable is. An electrical signal degrades over distance due to physics!

Active optical cables run at the speed of light and carry the full signal strength with no loss!

A long copper cable will be thick, rigid and heavy. For electrical signal to travel further the cable cores need to be thick and rigid, making it more cumbersome to manage!

Active optical cables are thin, flexible and rugged enough to run through walls at all lengths up to 100 meter!

A long copper cable solution consumes more power than an active optical cable. Long copper cable links require powered amplifiers to extend signals consuming much more power.

Active optical cables at long lengths require no additional power and consume the same power as a short cable!
