We’re here to help you get clear on what you want and give you the top 24 experts, tools, techniques, methods, tips, and systems so you can manifest each and every dream. I’m your host, Tammy Lawman. Our special guest today is Karim Hajee. He’s an award-winning television reporter in Canada and the US. Karim learned how to tap into his subconscious mind from his mother when he was a teenager living in Kenya in East Africa. She was taught by her mother, who discovered the system while she lived in India. This system has been around for a very long time. Karim founded a company called Creating Power over 20 years ago, and he’s dedicated to helping you live the life you want. Today he’s going to share with you the secrets to activating the Law of Attraction for yourself. Karim, on behalf of the founders and listeners of the Intention Event, I’d like to welcome you and thank you for being with us today. Karim Hajee: Thank you, Tammy, for having me. It’s great to be here, and I’m looking forward to this. Tammy Lawman: Awesome. For those members of the audience who don’t know that much about you, can you tell us a little bit more about your background and how you got involved in the self-development field? Karim Hajee: I followed this philosophy when I was very young that was just to do what I enjoy doing. While I started doing that, I also started to learn how to tap the power of my subconscious mind without really knowing it. There was some training, but it wasn’t really formal. It was kind of like you listen to your mom and your grandma. Then you go and do it, and it works. Years went by, and I decided, “I think I want to be a journalist.” A lot of people thought I was absolutely insane because it’s a very competitive field. “Why don’t you do something a little more stable?” I just thought it was fun. I thought, “Let’s go out, have some fun, do what I enjoy doing, and see if I can be successful at it.” Sure enough, I was. I ended up being an investigative reporter and anchor in New York City, which is probably the best place to work as a journalist if you’re in North America. Along the way, the successes continued to pile on, and I started to realize, “A lot of things are clicking here.” I stopped to look back, scratched my head, and said, “How did we get here? How did all this happen?” I had a long conversation with my mom and my dad. We went back, and she explained to me, “You did all this stuff, and it really worked for you. It’s worked in a lot of areas. Why don’t you take a look back at your notes and see some of the things you’ve written down and see what you come up with.”

Sure enough, as I did that, I discovered that I really did apply these principles without really knowing it. I still applied them at that time, and I still apply them today. They have become automatic. I’m going to get into that later on because when it becomes automatic, that’s when the success starts to come to you fairly quickly. After going over it, I decided, “Just for the fun of it, let’s start putting something together. “Let’s see if I was just a one-off fluke who happened to get lucky with this or if it could actually work with other people.” I started putting something together, and I would work with colleagues and friends. An interesting thing happened along the way, Tammy. As I started to go to more and more social events, parties, and things like that, prior to me dabbling in this area, I would always talk about my journalistic background. That was enough to captivate an audience because that covered some of the biggest stories. I’d done a lot of terrorism-related stories and police corruption stories. I’d been threatened at gunpoint, shot at, thrown out of buildings, and thrown out of countries. I have great stories. I could go on and on. As I started talking about my new program, that’s what everybody was interested in. They didn’t care about my journalistic experience. They didn’t want to know anything that I was involved in on that side. This was more interesting to them. I said, “This is pretty cool. I think we have something here. Let’s see if we can actually help people.” I put together this program, and I started working with friends one-on-one. After a couple of months, they started to see some results. We started tweaking the course and making some changes, and it went on. It got to a point where they would tell friends, and I would get calls out of nowhere from people wanting to set up an appointment with me. You have to remember I was a full-time journalist, reporter, and anchor. I didn’t get home sometimes until about 10:00 at night. On the weekends, I was pretty exhausted, but that was when I would start working in the self-improvement area with the program I was creating. I’d set up these appointments, and sometimes I’d have them back-to-back, and I’d be going for two to three hours at a time. I was just exhausted. When we saw more and more results, the program became fine-tuned, and that was it. It just got bigger and bigger. One day I was at an event, and I realized, “I’m getting way too many questions, and I’m spending the whole time talking to people about my program. “I need to do something else.” I set up a website and directed them to that site. It was just supposed to be for informational purposes. There was a phone number so you could contact me and an email address that you could email me at. It got busier and busier. I couldn’t handle it anymore. It was overwhelming. I had to cut back on the number of requests I could take. One day I was walking back. At that time I was with CBS News.

I was walking back home. I had about a 45-minute walk home. I was tired. It was one of those long days, and I just needed to unwind mentally. I was walking home, and I bumped into an old colleague of mine. We started talking, and he asked me what I was up to. I told him I started this program, and I explained to him, “It’s just gotten really busy. I can’t handle all of these phone calls, and I’m trying to find a solution here.” He said, “Why don’t you just record everything on tapes or CDs and send it out? Then if they want, they can call and ask you questions.” I said, “That’s a great idea.” Remember when we had tapes? A lot of people out there might never have seen a tape or a cassette player. I went to work and recorded everything. We put it onto cassettes and CDs and started manufacturing it. It just got bigger and bigger. The key, Tammy, was that I was always having fun doing this. It got tiring only because I was doing two jobs at the same time. I had a very demanding career that I enjoyed a great deal but was also quite exhausting, and I’d started this new business that was just for the fun of it but kind of grew into a business. My father had passed away around that time too, so after a while of doing this, I looked at it and said, “Maybe I need to take a break and see if I can do something else with this and if I can start writing good material.” I just didn’t have time to write. I was working all the time, so where was the time to come home and put together some new courses, newsletters, books, CDs, and all these things? I said, “There’s just no time. I have so much material in my head.” I still do. If I lived to 150, I probably wouldn’t get it all out. Imagine how hard it was at that time when I had a full-time career that I was working on. It wasn’t something that just allowed me to cruise. I went and talked to my boss and said, “I’d like to take a leave of absence for about a year. I have this business.” I explained everything to her and said, “This is what I want to do. I just want to give it a shot and see if it works out. If it doesn’t work out, I’d like to come back, but if it does, I’ll let you know.” She looked at me and said, “Karim, you’re not coming back. “If you’ve done all this part time, I can just imagine what’s going to happen when you work on it full time. I just don’t think you’re coming back.” She was right. A year later I called her up and said, “I’m not going to be coming back. Thanks, but no thanks.” Just prior to that, I was entering negotiations on what was going to be a very lucrative contract, but it was going to be a long-term contract. That’s why I decided to take the time to think about it. I’ve used this phrase a lot with my friends, and you might understand it. I was going into gold handcuffs. It was a great job, and it was good money, but I’d be locked up for a long time. Tammy Lawman: I totally understand it.

Karim Hajee: I just said, “I’d rather not be in handcuffs than be in golden handcuffs.” I decided to take that break. I put my nose to the grindstone and decided to write some stuff, expand our business a lot, and start doing things just for the fun of it. Even today, I still enjoy doing it. Here’s what prompted me to go in this direction on a full-time basis more so than the golden handcuff rule. You remember 9/11. Everybody does. I was working 9/11. The planes had just attacked the World Trade Center. I was called into work that day. I saw everything collapse from my apartment. I got into work right away. I was meeting with confidential sources at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning to get information. We were all working seven or eight days a week. Things started to come down a little bit after the first month and into the second month. By the third month, we weren’t working seven days a week anymore. We were maybe working five or six days. I was still putting in six or seven days. I went into work on a weekend, and I had an editor working with me that day. I said, “What are you doing here?” He was one of the most senior people there. I said, “What are you doing here?” He said, “I got called in to work on the weekend.” I said, “Yes, but you never work weekends.” He said, “I had no choice.” I said, “I’m glad you’re here, but it can’t be good.” He said, “No, it’s horrible.” I said, “Why?” He said, “It’s my son’s first ever baseball game, and he’s the starting pitcher, and I’m missing it.” I looked at him, and I sunk in my chair and said to myself, “I don’t want to miss my son’s first baseball, soccer, or football game. “I don’t want to miss my daughter’s recitals or anything like that. I want to be there when they take their first steps and say their first words. I don’t want to miss it.” That’s when I realized I probably needed to take a break sooner rather than later and see if I could do my own thing on my terms. That’s what prompted me to take the year off. It was that kind of thinking that said, “Forget the golden handcuffs because I’ll never see anything then. I’ll never see my kids.” I wouldn’t have any at that rate. That’s what pushed me. That’s what prompted this whole business and me going into this area. We’ve been very successful. We’ve helped hundreds of thousands of people. The program has been really powerful and widely accepted. We’re working on great material all the time, and I’m so glad I make the decision. I’ve seen some of the dramatic changes over the years, and I’d much rather be doing this than being a journalist. Tammy Lawman: Awesome. There are two things that I find so amazing about your story because most people think of journalism and the news as being so negative. You have transitioned your life into doing something that’s so positive. It almost seems like a total reversal.

Karim Hajee: It was a 180-degree turn. Tammy Lawman: Yes. The one thing is that I know a ton of people are jealous, including me, that you have the power of tapping into your subconscious mind without even having to work that hard at it. You said it came to you very naturally. I’m curious about that. I know I read on your website that you said you spent the last 20 years or so examining and studying different self-help programs and reading books on the subject of the subconscious mind. I’m curious as to what you were looking for and what you discovered. Karim Hajee: I was looking for anything that was going to knock me off my feet. I really didn’t. I’ve read a lot of good books. There are a lot of good books and programs out there. I wasn’t really looking for anything. I was just looking to see if anybody could lay it out for me and say, “Here’s what you need to do. Follow these steps: A, B, C, D, E.” It’s kind of like what my grandmother taught me. “Do these things, and you will succeed. It’s not going to be easy. It’s not going to be a walk in the park because you’re changing your whole thought patterns now.” You talked about me being in a very negative environment, and it was. I don’t know if you’ve ever worked in a newsroom, but it is very negative. We deliver negative news. It’s very cynical. They’re not the happiest of people. Is there a correlation? What do you think? First, I had to work on myself, which was to get rid of all of these negative thinking patterns and beliefs and focus on changing that. I was fortunate enough that I had the tools, and I hadn’t let it get to me that much. When I started examining myself and looking at everything out there, I found that there was a lot to change within me. I also found there wasn’t a simple program that said, “Here’s what you need to do week by week.” Everybody had a lot of good ideas and concepts and some great stories about how people have made changes. Nobody ever really said, “Do this first. Then do this. Then do this. Now put it all together, and do it every day for the rest of your life. You’ll see dramatic changes.” That’s what I wanted to create, and that’s what we did with Creating Power. That’s the objective behind it. It’s designed to work with you during the course of your day. I want you to work with yourself and change those negative thinking patterns. The truth is, Tammy, I’m not going to say it’s going to be a walk in the park. It’s not going to be the easiest thing you’re going to do. It’s kind of like being right-handed all your life and now starting to write with your left hand. It’s not going to be easy, but it is possible. If you train yourself enough, you can do it. Anything is possible.

That’s kind of what you’re doing. You’re moving your thought patterns from negative to positive. It’s going to take a while. The older you are, the more engrained those negative thoughts, and the longer the process might be. The good news is that you’ll see changes happening along the way, and we want to work with you so that you encourage yourself to continue, progress, and make those changes. That’s what I was looking for. I didn’t find it, so that’s why I created Creating Power. Tammy Lawman: Awesome. Are there some basics that people need to know about the subconscious mind or the Law of Attraction before you get more into the methods? Karim Hajee: Yes. First, think of your subconscious mind as the engine or your driver. You want to get to your destination. You have to give your driver specific instructions. Unfortunately, most people give their subconscious minds either the wrong instructions or not the specific instructions that they need. Here’s an example: you want to get to a position where you’re making a lot of money. You continually say that it’s difficult to make money or there are no opportunities to make money. You say, “I can’t find any good ways to make money,” or “I have to work hard to make money.” Your subconscious is taking that as an instruction. Your thoughts and beliefs are the instructions to your subconscious mind. It’s taking this as an instruction and saying, “Tammy, you want it to be difficult to make money. Fine. I’ll do that for you.” That’s not your intention, is it? Tammy Lawman: No. Karim Hajee: Your intention is to make money. You’d rather it be easy, but you don’t have this belief system that allows you to communicate that to your subconscious mind, so you communicate something that you don’t really want without even knowing it. It gets more and more difficult to make money, and life gets more and more challenging. You continually find ways to make money, but they’re difficult, and they don’t work out. You end up losing money, or you find ways to make bad investments because it’s difficult to make money. It gets harder and harder. When you switch that and go from saying, “It’s difficult to make money,” to, “It’s easy to make money,” your mind is not going to accept this. “Are you kidding? Look at all these past examples.” It’s not going to accept that. That’s the message you want to give to your subconscious, which is what you want. Think of it as you’re coming back from a journey overseas. You land at an airport, get into a taxi, and tell the driver, “Take me home.” Where is that? If all you say is, “Take me home,” he can’t get you there. You have to give him specific instructions. You have to give your subconscious specific instructions. “I want to make a lot of money,” is a good start, but let’s get more specific about it. How much do you want to make?

“Activating the Law of Attraction”

Karim Hajee

How do you want to make it? Do you want it to be easy or hard? Do you want to make $40,000 a year or $100,000 a year? Do you want to work at an office or in a business? What do you want to do? Unfortunately, most people don’t focus on what they want. They’re always thinking about what they don’t want. An example is, “I don’t want to be working 60 hours. I don’t want to be traveling. I don’t want to be in a bad relationship. I don’t want to be with somebody who doesn’t respect me.” Those are all the things that you don’t want. The subconscious is picking up on what your focus is. It’s not the “don’t” part. It’s not that it doesn’t hear the “don’t” part. It hears the “don’t” part, but the emphasis is on the difficult. “I don’t want a difficult relationship.” That’s where the attention is. The subconscious picks that up. It says, “You want difficult? Fine. We’ll make it difficult.” You really have to be positive in your message and be clear about what you want. “I want a pleasant relationship. I want to make money doing something I enjoy. I want to make $60,000 a year in my first year and to be able to grow to $120,000.” Do you understand that? We’re getting a lot more specific. We’re setting out a clear intention. We’re not focusing on what we don’t want. There are no negative words in there. There’s no room for confusion. We’re being very clear and specific. If your subconscious doesn’t get it, what doesn’t it get? Is it the $60,000 or the $120,000 part? I’ve made it very clear, so let’s get this done. Do you understand? Tammy Lawman: Definitely. Why is it so important to be clear? Karim Hajee: As I was going over, when you say what you don’t want and you’re not specific, it’s kind of like getting into that cab and saying, “Take me home.” “Where do you live?” “I live by the hills.” “Which hills are you talking about? Whereabouts are you? Where exactly do you want to go? Help me out here.” Your subconscious needs that help. “I want to make a lot of money.” “How much exactly do you want to make?” “I don’t know. Just a lot.” A lot could be $50 a week. I don’t know. How much do you want to make? What kind of relationship do you want? “I want a good relationship.” “Define good for me. What would be a good relationship to you?” The more specific you are, the better. There’s a point where you can get too specific, and you don’t want to go there. For example, “I want to work only at Company XYZ.” That might be too specific. You want to specify the kind of situation you want to live in and then let your subconscious mind and your higher self guide you to the best possible position or place for you to be. We have to set that intention out. We have to be clear on what we want and focus on it. That allows us to move away from what we don’t want toward what we do want.

Now the mind doesn’t have as much room to be negative and unclear. There’s no room for confusion with the subconscious mind. You’re being very clear and specific. That’s what we want to avoid: that confusion or possible confusion. Tammy Lawman: We’re here to talk about activating the Law of Attraction. What’s the first step people need to take? Karim Hajee: The first step you need to take when you want to activate the Law of Attraction is to know what you want. Understand what it is that you want. I just went over this. It’s not what you don’t want. Focus on what you want. The Law of Attraction will work for you. It will attract anything, but we need to activate it. It’s already activated on some level. You’re just not doing it so it works for you. The first step is to start thinking about what you want, knowing what you want, getting specific about it, and focusing on it. It’s not what you don’t want. It means focusing on what you do want. The next step is to start examining the thoughts related to what you want. Let’s look at the financial aspect because that’s probably the most common one I get. I’m sure you’ve heard it as well. Everybody feels that if they had a lot of money, it would make their life easier. It will to a certain extent. If you want to make more money, how much more money? Let’s get specific and look at the thoughts you have there. Do you have a thought that says, “It’s difficult to make money,” “I don’t know how to make more money,” “There are no good ways to make money,” “Nobody’s hiring. There are no good jobs out there,” or “It’s difficult to find a job in my field”? I find these all very interesting thoughts because I can challenge each one of them. That’s what you want to do. Start challenging these thoughts and changing them so that they allow you to succeed. An example of that is asking, “Are there really no jobs out there?” People are hiring even in the state of the economy. They are still hiring no matter what the economy is doing. There will be people leaving jobs and retiring. There will be positions that need to be filled. There will be women taking maternity leaves where positions will need to be filled. There will be men moving on to other positions. There will be people who will be transferred or promoted where positions will open up again. There are always jobs opening. It’s up to you to find the right one. If you set the intention that there are no good jobs and you activate the Law of Attraction to attract jobs that you don’t want, you’re going to get jobs that you don’t want.

“Activating the Law of Attraction”

Karim Hajee

You’re not going to get the offers that you want. However, we can switch this around and start focusing on what we do want. We can allow ourselves to have thoughts that say, “There are jobs out there. Look at all these people hiring. People are going to work every day.” Now we start to activate the Law of Attraction so that we start to find new jobs or new ways to make money, increase or grow our business, or make the right investment choices. Next, we need to start changing the beliefs associated with that. The beliefs are the ones that come up that are deeply rooted in there. They continually argue with you and say, “That’s not possible. It’s not possible to make money. It’s not possible to find an easy way to make money.” Beliefs and thoughts are very closely related. A lot of times a thought and a belief are one and the same. You’re working with them at the same time. Next, after that, the next step is we want to continually focus on what we want. That means regularly push the mind in the direction to focus on what you want. If things don’t work out, we don’t focus on what didn’t work out. We need to go back to the outcome that we want. Finally, the last step is to take massive action. You need to do something every single day to help you accomplish your goals. This is where most people fail. They don’t take the action. They create affirmations, set the intention, change their thoughts, and change their beliefs, but they don’t take the action. A person or friend will introduce them to a business opportunity, and they won’t follow up on it. Someone will tell them to call up about a job, and they won’t follow up on it. Someone might say, “Here’s a great way to make money. Let’s look at it. Let’s start up a partnership.” They decide not to do anything with it. They don’t take the action. You need to explore opportunities and take action. These are the basic, fundamental steps that will allow you to start activating the Law of Attraction so that it works for you and not against you. When you have it working for you, that’s when things start to get easier and easier. Tammy Lawman: Wonderful. Karim, can you give some examples of people you’ve worked with and how they’ve been able to apply some of the techniques in your Creating Power system to their life to make it work for them? Karim Hajee: There are thousands of examples I could go over. I’m trying to give you the quickest and the best ones. We’ve had people contact us in similar situations saying, “I need to find a way to make money.” Let me use an example of about $30,000 to $40,000. “I just want to go ahead and make $50,000 to $60,000.” I remember these conversations specifically, and once they started focusing on what they wanted, they would find new opportunities.

In many cases, it was getting a job promotion because they changed their attitude at work and they were able to get the promotion they wanted. In other cases, they were able to come up with a business plan that would allow them to start a side business. Let’s say they were in a job where they were making $50,000 a year. They had this hobby, and they were able to turn that hobby into a business and start making $10,000 to $20,000 a year extra there. There are people who’ve gone on and made in the millions. We’ve had some in the real estate business call me up and start working with our company when their company was down and not doing so well. They were maybe making a couple hundred thousand a year. They went from having a business that made a couple hundred thousand dollars a year to a business that was making $5 million or $6 million. They just changed their focus, attention, and intention and started directing their subconscious mind to help them attract the right kind of clients. Similarly, I’ve had numerous people talk about meeting the right person when they started working with the program. They wanted to get into that great relationship and find that person they would end up getting married to and having children with. They have been very negative in the beginning but only because that’s what they were conditioned to do. Once they changed their thought process and belief system, they started attracting positive people. Here’s the best part: the negative people fade away, whether it’s in business, at work, or in a relationship. Those negative people who hold you back, who support your negative beliefs and thoughts, start to fall by the wayside. With our Creating Wealth program, we’ve had tremendous success where people have applied that course and been able to get the success they wanted. They first work with Creating Power. Those who have had tremendous success work with the Creating Power course on a regular basis. They go through all the weeks. You do have the ability to contact me by email or phone. I answer all my questions, and I do pick up my phone. That’s there for the people who find that they might get stuck in a rut or need some clarity on some issues. I try to cover everything in the course, but realistically, if I had to cover every possible angle, problem, or situation, I’d probably end up with about 300 CDs. A lot of them would not be applicable to everybody. I understand that there are going to be situations that I can’t possibly cover, so email or call me, and I’ll be happy to answer the questions. If people honestly have had success with the program, they don’t do it for a week or two. They do the four weeks. Their whole mindset after that has been shifted, and they continue working with the course every single day. All those techniques that I outline in the Creating Power course I apply every single day in my life. From the moment I wake up to the time I go to bed, I do them every single day. My wife will tell you this.

My kids will tell you this too. They probably don’t understand because they’re only 2, and we just had our third. I’m working with them to help them instill the positive belief system that allows them to succeed. There’s nothing they can’t do. We just have alternatives for what they should be doing. Instead of saying, “You can’t climb up and knock down all the books,” we say, “How about we do something else? How about we go and bounce on the bed instead.” Give them something positive to do. Tammy Lawman: It’s awesome that you’re able to work with children of that age to get those beliefs instilled into them early on so they don’t necessarily get to a situation when they’re older where they need to retrain their subconscious or belief system. Karim Hajee: Right. Your mind is much like a child. It’s been conditioned to do something for most of your life so far. Now you’re going to step in and say, “You can’t do that. You have to stop doing that.” What’s it going to say? “Are you kidding? Of course I’m going to go do this. If I let my kids bring down the books every single day, guess what they’re going to do. Every single day they’re going to go out there and bring down the books. They’ll think it’s okay.” That’s what your mind is used to doing. It’s used to doing whatever it wants. Now you’re going to step in and tell it, “You can’t do this anymore.” There’s going to be some resistance. That’s okay. If there wasn’t resistance, I’d be concerned because then the mind isn’t getting it. It’s not picking up on the message. We want it to get that message, and we want to respond. We want to challenge it, and we want it to move in a new direction. You have to get to the point where you completely and utterly fully believe that you are going to succeed no matter what. That’s the kind of belief system you want to have. No matter what, you’re going to succeed. Here’s an example. Do you have children, Tammy? Tammy Lawman: No, but I have a little nephew. Karim Hajee: How old is the nephew? Tammy Lawman: He’s 5. Karim Hajee: Remember when that nephew was born and everybody was waiting for him to walk? As it grew older and got closer to a year, everybody was waiting for your nephew to start walking. Eventually, your nephew started walking. I assume your nephew is walking, right? Tammy Lawman: Yes.

Karim Hajee: Your nephew is walking and talking. Was there ever a time when you thought, “This kid is never going to walk”? Tammy Lawman: No. Karim Hajee: Why not? You just believed that he was going to walk, right? Tammy Lawman: Yes. Karim Hajee: You just firmly believed that this child was going to walk. Your brother or sister always thought he was going to walk, right? Tammy Lawman: Right. Karim Hajee: Sure enough, he walked. That’s the kind of belief you need to have in yourself. You completely and utterly believe that this is going to happen. There’s not a single doubt. The doubt never even crossed your mind. That’s what we want to get to. When you have that kind of convicting belief, you’re going to succeed no matter what. You’re going to find a way because we’re going to focus on the success that you have and build from there. As you start to believe in yourself and condition your mind and subconscious mind to accept this, that’s when you start to have tremendous success. Tammy Lawman: Karim, is changing beliefs part of this program? Do you feel like that’s the hardest part for people? Karim Hajee: That’s not the hardest part. The hardest part is doing the exercises every day and getting into that habit because the mind is going to say, “You don’t need to do this. Do it tomorrow. It doesn’t work. You’ve tried this before. Nothing is ever going to change. You’re no good. Who are you kidding?” That’s the toughest part: overcoming that resistance. Creating new beliefs and thoughts is the easy part. It’s working with your mind to get past that point where it starts to accept that you’re going to do this. I say it in my program. If you can get to Week 3, you’re well on your way to success. The ones who do succeed get way past Week 3. They continue doing it every day. What you need to know going in is that your mind is going to put up this resistance all the time. It’s going to put up a fight. It’ll tell you, “Send it back. It doesn’t work. You’ve read this stuff before. You know all this. Don’t do it. What’s the point?” It’s only doing that because it wants to stick with what it knows. It doesn’t want to change. It wants to stay in that comfort zone where everything’s okay. It’s not okay. It’s not good enough for your future. It may be okay for about five minutes, but if you really want change, that’s a signal that says, “Things aren’t good enough.”

You have to get your mind on board with this and work with it. I explain how to work with it so that it starts to move forward and allow you to start succeeding. Your mind is your best friend, and your subconscious mind is your best friend as well. They just have to be in agreement, and you all need to work together to help you get there. You control your mind. You direct your subconscious mind. You’re the person in charge. Once you get on board and say, “This is what I’m going to do. Let’s start doing it,” change will start to happen. Tammy Lawman: Can you explain some of the tools that you give them to help? Is there some kind of visualization technique? Is it meditation? Karim Hajee: It’s a combination of a lot of different techniques. We have a visualization program. I talk about the right way to visualize there. A lot of people do it. Some don’t. Many have gone in a different direction with their visualization. This is a very simple, powerful visualization that works when you do it regularly. We have a meditation program, and the objective of the meditation program here is not to start chanting, call spirits, or anything like that. It is merely designed to help you quiet the mind so that you’re able to direct the subconscious mind to help you get what you want. It’s not designed to force you to do some kind of chanting or anything else. It’s just designed to help you quiet the mind so that you can send the messages to your subconscious mind more easily and effectively. That’s what it’s designed to do. We work with affirmations, and I’m going to teach you how to create the right kind of affirmations. One of the best parts of the program is you can come up with affirmations and then email them to me, and I’ll go over them for you. What I find when I go over them is that a lot of them are not targeted specifically to what you want. They’re trying to get there in a roundabout fashion, and they’re not specific enough to help you get there. We’re going to work on that as well. Plus, we have a whole bunch of different techniques, and the idea here is to work with as many techniques as possible regularly. You can’t just do it once a week. You have to do it every day repeatedly. There’s strength in repetition. Here’s an example: when you were in grade school, they taught you that 2 x 2 = 4. You kept repeating it over and over again. You’d say, “2 x 2 = I don’t know,” until it finally sunk into your head that 2 x 2 = 4. It was the same thing with English, grammar, and everything else that you went through. It became a process where you did it habitually every single day until you memorized it and got it engrained in your head. If today I said to you 2 x 2 = 6, you’d think I’m crazy or stupid because everybody has been taught that 2 x 2 = 4.

That’s what we’ve been taught to believe. It’s what you’ve been conditioned to believe. We want to apply the same process when retraining your mind and redirecting your subconscious mind. We want it to start believing that we can accomplish our goals and that we are accomplishing our goals. We can make more money easily, quickly, and effectively. We can be in wonderful relationships, and we are meeting the right people to help us succeed. There is no such thing as coincidence. Everything that happens from the moment we set our intention is happening to help us accomplish our goal in some way so that we learn, refine, and move forward. That’s what we want to do on a regular basis. That’s what this program helps you do. Like I said, it’s a simple but powerful program that goes through the steps you need to do every single day so that you get there. Tammy Lawman: Karim, how much time every day does it take? Are people going to be expected to set aside an hour? Karim Hajee: In the beginning, you’re going to spend at least an hour in the first week listening to that. My objective with the program was to make it as easy as possible. By the time you finish four weeks, you’re going to create a five-minute system that you can implement at any time during the day. The more often you do it, the sooner and the better your results will be. For example, in Week 1, you’re going to sit down and listen to the Week 1 program. I go through a whole lot of explanation in Week 1 because I need to get it one of the way so you understand exactly what we’re doing, how we’re going to do it, why we’re doing it, and why this works so that you’re onboard. Now that you’ve gone through Week 1 and you understand the basic concepts, I’m not going to repeat it over and over again. What we’re going to do is in Week 1 we’re going to go over the basic concepts. Then you’re going to get your exercises. These exercises are not homework. You don’t have to come home at the end of your long day and say, “I have to do all these exercises. I’m too tired.” I know you’re going to be too tired. Everybody’s going to be too tired. The exercises are designed so that you do them during the course of your day. They’re simple exercises like tracking yourself thinking. What are you thinking about? We focus on some of the laws that I talk about, including the Law of Attraction, how these laws govern your life, and what’s happening as you work with them. We look at how you’re using your power and directing your subconscious mind. These are some other things we get into in Week 1. Week 2 is a little bit shorter when you listen to it, and then Week 3 is a little bit shorter as well.

For each of the first three weeks, I’ve created what I call a daily program. I don’t want you to listen to Week 1 for an hour every single day because it’s going to be too tiring. What I did was I created a daily program that’s about 10 to 15 minutes long. It goes over the highlights of the concepts, what you can do, and what you need to do, and it outlines the exercises you want to follow for that day. You can listen to that at any point during the day to give you a recap for the entire week. It’s the same thing for Week 2 and Week 3. In Week 4 we wrap it all up and put it together. You create your own five-minute system. That five-minute system you can implement at any point during the day. You can do it for five minutes during the day, and over time you’ll see results and changes. However, if you do it for more than five minutes a day, you’ll get even better results. The more often you do it, the better. There’s strength in repetition. This is your life, here, Tammy. You now have an opportunity to direct this life and accomplish anything you want. You can do that by redirecting your subconscious mind, or you can choose to wait and maybe try later. Then later comes along, and it’s 10 years later, and nothing has changed. Here’s an opportunity to push yourself in a new direction and get your subconscious mind to work for you. Then you start applying the Law of Attraction so that you get what you want in life and not what you don’t want. Once you start getting what you want, you not only get more of what you want, but you’ll get even less and less of what you don’t want because you’re not focused on what you don’t want anymore. This is where it becomes really powerful. Changes start to happen, and you really start to have a lot of fun with your life. It’s an exciting time to be able to learn these new techniques and apply them on a regular basis because you’ll see dramatic changes fairly quickly. Tammy Lawman: Awesome. Can anyone at any stage of their life get into this, or do they have to be in a certain frame of mind to start this? Karim Hajee: The only frame of mind that you need to be in is you need to want to make the change. You have to be at that point where you say, “I’ve made these changes. They didn’t work. Now I really need to make some dramatic changes. I’m tired of the way life is. I need to make some changes. I need to move forward and start achieving my goals. I need to live this life to the best possible. Where I am right now just is not getting me there anymore.”

You’re going to instill this in them from the beginning. Karim Hajee: That’s the greatest gift you can give. I was fortunate enough to have it in my life, and I’m doing everything I can to pass it on to my children too. Tammy Lawman: Awesome. Karim, is there another story, visualization or meditation technique, or some other tip that you’d like to share with everybody before we leave? Karim Hajee: Absolutely. I’ll give you an exercise that you can work with, and I’ll also share a personal story as well. First I’ll give you the exercise. One of my favorite exercises that I have—and I go over this specifically in Week 4 of the program, so I’m going to share it with you now—is to be able to directly instruct your subconscious mind. Here’s what you want to do. I encourage you to do this before you go to bed. There’s a very clear reason why: as you’re going to bed, your mind is getting into this relaxed state, and it’s going to put up less resistance. Your subconscious mind is getting into a more receptive state. It’s kind of like a one-two situation that’s going to work for you. Get comfortable in your bed, and then start thinking about what you want. Remember, it’s not what you don’t want. It’s exactly what you want.

For the purpose of this exercise, we’ve been discussing the financial issue. Let’s stick with that. Let’s say I want to find a way to make more money. That’s what I want to do. You might think it’s in a job or a promotion, or you might want to grow your business. There are a number of possibilities that comes to my mind as to how to do this. Your basic goal here is to find a way to make more money. You lie down, get comfortable, and tell your subconscious mind, “I want to find a way to make more money. I know there are ways to make more money out there. I know there are easy ways to make more money, and I know there are difficult ways to make more money. I want to find an easy way for me to make more money. Here are the kinds of things I’d like to do. I’d like to work 20 to 30 hours a week. “I’d like to be able to travel a little bit and spend more time with my family. I’d like to be able to have an opportunity to make as much money as possible, and I’d like to start making about $10,000 more a year just doing this. That’s my objective.” Now you’ve given your subconscious mind a clear direction as to what you want. You can get more specific if you like. Next, start telling your subconscious mind, “My subconscious mind is my ally. My subconscious mind is my partner in success. I have a powerful subconscious mind. My subconscious mind is my partner in success. My subconscious mind is now helping me find ways to make more money easily. My subconscious mind is now guiding me to finding more ways to make more money easily. I have a powerful subconscious mind, and my subconscious mind is now working for me. “My subconscious mind is now guiding me to the ways to make more money easily.” You continually repeat this over and over about 15 times. I try to say both phrases at the same time. I’ll say one, and I’ll think the other. While I’m saying, “I have a powerful subconscious mind,” I might be thinking, “My subconscious mind is now working for me,” or “My subconscious mind is now helping me find ways to make money easily.” Do you understand? Tammy Lawman: Definitely. Karim Hajee: What we’re doing here is we’re setting a very clear instruction to our subconscious mind. Then just continue reciting this about 15 to 20 times. Then as you wrap it up, start simply saying, “I have a powerful subconscious mind. My subconscious mind is now working for me and bringing me the situations, people, and circumstances that will help me succeed. Thank you, my subconscious mind, for helping me achieve my goals.”

Let it go, and drift off to bed. It is one of the most powerful techniques you can work with. Do this regularly. I suggest you do it three or four times a week for about a month, and then let it go. Leave it alone, and then come back maybe a month later and do it again if you haven’t seen any results. What you’ll find is that you’ll start attracting more and more people because you set out the intention. You’ve activated the Law of Attraction to help you accomplish what you want. You’ve given your subconscious mind a clear instruction, and you’ve let go. You’ve been able to direct your subconscious mind and trust that it will work. The trust part comes when you nod off and go to sleep. That’s what you want to do. I’m going to share with you a personal story. This goes back a long time ago. I didn’t grow up in a rich household. I was born in East Africa. I spent the early years in Nairobi. We immigrated to Canada. I grew up in Toronto and went to school in Toronto. I had a passion for radio. I always used to love taking apart radios and figuring out what was going on. I didn’t realize at this time that I was setting this intention, but at the same time, my mother would always take me along with her trips to the bank and all this stuff. I was kind of like my mother’s sidekick. I’d always help her because I was the younger one. My brother was off working and doing stuff, and I was the younger one. I helped her out around the house, and when I wasn’t helping, I’d be taking apart radios and trying to figure out what was going on. My mother would always take me to the bank whenever she went, and I was curious. Do you remember those withdrawal slips you’d get? I think some banks still have them. You’d fill out a withdrawal slip. I’d take a pile of them home. I’d make believe they were checks, and I’d write my own name on them and put $40,000 or $1 million. I’d just keep writing and have fun. Those are two things that kind of work together. Let’s file that for a second, and we’re going to jump forward now. I was in the university, and I was walking in the hallways. I saw a sign saying, “Help wanted. University radio station needs help.” I went and said, “I love radio, so I’d love to help out.” To make a long story short, I ended up being the program director for that station. It was only a closed-circuit radio station when I started. That means you could only hear it on certain speakers in the university. I think there were about five speakers in the university. Three of them didn’t work, and one of them was on the verge of breaking down. There was only one speaker that worked, and you could barely hear it. We would be doing all this work, and nobody would be listening. A couple of other friends and I decided to apply for an FM license. We built a radio station, Tammy. We put up an FM antenna.

That radio station is still going today, and that was over 20 years ago. Then from being a program director I got into news. I started up the news department, and I got into sports and all that. I decided I wanted to be a journalist. A friend of mine at the time said, “If you really want to be a journalist, you have some good experience, but I would suggest you go to grad school and get some more experience. I would suggest you go to grad school in New York.” I just happen to have a cousin in New York. I went down to visit my cousin in New York, and I was thinking about going to Columbia at that time because it had a really good journalism program as well. He said, “I think you should take a look at NYU. You might like it.” I was kind of set on going to Columbia. I went to Columbia, and I didn’t have a good experience there. It just didn’t seem like the right fit. I went down to NYU, and I fell in love with that university. I fell in love with the program. It just seemed more progressive for me and for what I wanted to do. I applied to a bunch of universities. I got accepted to every one, but I was waiting for NYU. It still hadn’t come. My intention was there all along. Finally, I was driving my mom somewhere, and she said, “This envelope came for you.” I looked and said, “I think that’s the answer.” She said, “Do you want me to open it?”I said, “You might as well.” I got accepted, but I didn’t have any money to go to school. It was very expensive to go there, plus I had to get housing. We put the first semester on credit card. I came back, and I had this big credit card bill that I had to pay off, but I didn’t even have a job. I called up that same friend of mine who suggested I go to New York. He’d just gotten a job at CBC Radio here in Toronto. He told me, “I think there’s an internship program coming up. You might want to talk to my boss.” He put me through to his boss. I talked to his boss. He said, “Why don’t you come down and fill out the application?” I went down and filled out the application, and at the same time I applied to another TV station. The other TV station decided to hire me per diem on a part-time basis where they’d call me as they needed me. Nothing happened with the internship. Finally, I decided to take the other job. Just as I was getting ready to go to work, my friend’s boss called me up. I still had toothpaste in my mouth at this time. Nobody was home, and I picked up the phone. I remember this very clearly. He said, “We got the money for the internship and would like to bring you on board. It doesn’t pay a whole lot, but we think you’d be a great fit.”

I thought, “I’m going to take this one because it’s guaranteed money.” I think they were only paying me about $250 a week at that time, and I had this $8,000 bill from NYU for the first semester. It was $8,000 or $10,000. I can’t remember exactly what it was. I thought, “We’re never going to pay this thing off.” It just seemed like the right fit, and it all started to fall into place. With the other company, I called them up, and they said, “We didn’t need you today anyway. We’ll call you when we need you.” They never called. I went through that internship program, and here’s the funny thing that happened. I was in the newsroom on the second day, and I’d just finished having a conversation with my new boss about possibly doing some reporting because I had a lot of reporting experience. I’d done a lot of radio reporting. I’d done a lot of stuff while I was in New York for the university there, and I’d done some freelance stuff while I was there. I said, “I’d really like to get into doing some radio reporting.” He said, “This is a national radio station. I can’t just put anybody on, but I’ll see if I can get something for you.” I said, “Fine.” The second day, one of their top reporters had a heart attack and was rushed off to surgery, so they were short a reporter. My boss called me in and said, “Karim, Fred just had a heart attack. He’s gone for the summer. He’ll probably be back toward the winter. We need someone to step in right away, and you’re it. We’re going to bump you out of the internship program and put you in as a reporter.” They basically quadrupled my salary. I paid off that bill for NYU. I was reporting all over the country, traveling, and doing some great stuff. I went back to NYU, and I still needed money for the next semester and the semester after that. It’s a 1.5-year program. I still needed to pay those expenses. I talked to my boss, and he said, “We’d like to hire a freelance reporter in New York, and we think you’d be a great fit. We’ll hire you on a per diem basis as we need you. If you come up with story ideas, let us know, and we’ll be open to them.” I thought, “Great. That will give me some extra money.” I figured they’d probably hire me once or twice a month, and I’d get some extra money. I got down to NYU, and my professor strongly suggested that I apply for a supervising/teaching assistant position because the person they had decided to leave the university, and they needed someone else to fill in his role. He said, “I’m pretty sure you could do it. We’ll try you out for a couple of weeks, and if it works, we’ll talk about it some more.” They tried me out for a couple of weeks. It worked out fine. He called me in, and guess what the offer was. This one blew my mind. He said, “We’re going to pay you a stipend of about $250 a week, and we’re not going to charge you for tuition. We’re going to waive tuition for you. Your tuition’s covered because you come in as a supervising TA.”

I didn’t have to pay for school. Then on top of it, I got a $10,000 scholarship from an outside source. I found a foundation that gave me $10,000 to go to school. That would cover my housing and all my other expenses. Then the CBC decided to hire me practically every week. It really turned out to be a win-win situation. As I focused on this more, I got recruited to be a reporter. One thing led to another, and I ended up in New York. This was the kind of intention that was set in motion a long time ago when I started to focus on playing with radios, learning about radios, and pursuing a career in journalism. Now back to that withdrawal slip checking writing bit I was telling you about. Guess who writes my checks now. I do, and I sign them. It’s funny how things happen. It’s amazing how the intention process starts once you get it going, focus on it, let go, and forget about it. It starts to play out. It wasn’t until very recently that I realized, “Wait a minute. I’m writing those checks now.” Tammy Lawman: That’s awesome. I remember going to the bank with my grandmother and doing that as well. That’s amazing. Karim Hajee: I encourage everybody to get into that process of intention so that you’re writing your own checks, if that’s what you want. I had another friend who would frame his checks. What he did was he would take his check, copy it, change the number on it, and tape it to the wall. I walked into his room one day, and I saw a check for $49,000 up on his wall. I said, “What happened?” He said, “They only paid me $900. I put the extra zero and added a four to make it look good.” I thought, “That’s pretty cool.” He now has a chain of designer stores across the country that make, on average, about $10 million a month. I guess his check is over $49,000 now. Tammy Lawman: I would imagine it is. Karim Hajee: He set that intention a long time ago. We were teenagers at the time. That was his intention, and he set it in motion. These things happen when you focus on them regularly and you set the intention and decide, “This is what I’m going to do.” Then you have to have a certain level of trust. You knew your nephew was going to walk, and I knew my son and daughter were going to. My new daughter is also going to walk, talk, and do all these great things. Just as confident as I am in them, you need to be confident in yourself and your ability and trust that you’re going to find a way to get it done. Focus on it and direct your mind and subconscious mind to help you succeed. That’s what we get into with the Creating Power system. You’re going to get that four-week home study course.
