GODS AMAZING DESIGNThe human genome is made up of forty-six

chromosomes, the rod-like structures that resi

in the nucleus of every cell. These chromosom

carry all of our genes, which, in turn, are made

of DNA. Two of these chromosomes, called the

X and the Y, are different from the rest:

INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAYInternational Womens Day (IWD), marked

each year on March 8, is a global celebration

of womanhood. It is also a time to reect on

progress made in advancing womens rights,

to call for further change, and to remember

the ordinary women who through their acts

of courage and determination have played

extraordinary roles in the history of womens

rights and womens causes.

The idea of an International Womens Day

originated around the turn of the 20th century,

amid rapid world industrialization and economiexpansion that led to protests over working

conditions. In many countries today, the politi-

cal and human rights theme remains central to

IWD, while in others the day has become most

an occasion for men and children to express lo

and appreciation to the women around them
