Summative• Overview: 1 assessment in each
grade and content area for grades 3–10 in English, math, reading, science, and writing
• Format: Paper or online, selected-response, constructed response, and technology enhanced items
• Grades: 3 though 10
• Duration: 40–75 minutes each depending on grade and subject
• Available Feedback: Online robust reporting (paper available for a fee)
Periodic: Interim• Overview: 4 assessments
in each grade and content area for grades 3–EHS in English, math, reading, and science
• Format: Fixed-format, online, multiple-choice
• Grades: 3 though EHS
• Duration: 20–48 items; 45 minutes or less
• Available Feedback: Next Day, online analysis and reporting
• Instructional Resources: Via ACT Academy
• Overview: 12 assessments in each grade and content area for grades 3–8 in English, math, reading, and science
• Format: Fixed-format, online, multiple-choice

We didn’t assess our students in the Spring due to COVID-19. How can we access data to determine our students’ needs in the fall?
We are concerned that we won’t have ACT Aspire Summative longitudinal data for students for the academic year 2019-2020. How can we remedy that?
How can we access data to determine if our extended learning opportunities worked during the COVID-19 quarantine?
Due to COVID-19, we believe that families will move around and we will have new students about which we won’t know anything. How can we access data to determine the needs of these new students?
We believe that the “summer slide” will be worse than usual due to the extended time out of school and the limited access our students had to online learning during the quarantine. How can we determine if our students are on track?

Assess students in fall 2020 using the ACT Aspire Summative Assessment at their spring 2020 grade level
Benefits: • Identify students in need of additional instructional support for the
coming academic year
• Report progress toward college and career readiness, including predicted ACT scores
• Monitor school and district performance from year to year
• Measure growth from spring 2019 to fall 2020 (spring 2020), and set the baseline for measuring growth from fall 2020 (spring 2020) to spring 2021
• Keeps longitudinal score history intact

coming academic year using on-grade level data
• Report progress toward college and career readiness, including predicted ACT scores
• This is more of a pre-post testing option
• Important to save the reports and data after the fall administration before students complete the spring assessment
