This guide to Colorado education consultants wascompiled for parent educators from local education agencies, sheltersfor the homeless, volunteer organizations, and the ColoradoDepartment of Education. The guide is a directory of individualsavailable as speakers or instructors for meetings, conferences,workshops, seminars, and inservice presentations. The emphasis of theguide is on parent involvement resources in the areas of bilingualeducation, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of the Education Consolidation andImprovement Act of 1981, migrant education, and the homeless. Theguide contajms the names of more than 125 Colorado consultants. Eachname is followed by: (1) an address and telephone number; (2) theregion of location; (3) the program area of expertise; (4) gradelevel of expertise; (5) languages other than English in which theycould present; and (6) topic areas of expertise. IntroductionThis Resource Guide came about in response to a need for parent educators to assistlocal education agencies, shelters for the homeless, volunteer organizations, and theColorado Department of Education in their training efforts. The potential users of theGuide are persons who are involved in setting up meetings, conferences, workshops,seminars, and inservice presentations. The emphasis of the Guide is toward parentinvolvement resources in the areas of Bilingual/ESL Education, Chapter 1, Chapter 2,Migrant Education, Special Education, and Homeless.

The U.S. Department of Education provided funds for this Resource Guide through anincentive mini-grant and Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act award. Theactivities involved in developing the Resource Guide were: mailing questionnaires toindividuals and agencies, compiling information received directly from the respondents,preparing the Resource Guide, and disseminating a copy to each of the local educationagencies in the state.

The entries contained in this Resource Guide have been included as received and in noway represent an endorsement by the Colorado Department of Education. The purposeof the Guide is to disseminate information- -which may not always be complete- -thatwas given to us directly by the potential parent educators/trainers.

Thanks are extended to individuals and agencies who responded to the questionnaire, to the members ofthe Resource Guide Committee, to Dr. David Pimentel, Resource Guide Coordinator, and to Dr. SusanDuron, the external consultant responsible for compiling the data and preparing the Resource Guidedraft.
