Stonehenge is said to be one of the worst managed World Heritage sites in the United Kingdom.

Important featuresThe huge rocks at Stonehenge, called megaliths, once formed a full circle. The circle was made up of stone pillars with other large, curved rocks, called lintels, placed on the pillars. The builders of Stonehenge carved the stones to make them fit. For the time, the construction of Stonehenge was extraordinary.

IssuesA major road passes through the Stonehenge area. The road spoils the views of Stonehenge, but plans to run the road under the ground were cancelled at the end of 2007 because of the cost involved.
