#48 - Maryville University Interior Design Students – 26” x 27” Minimum bid - $100 The Covering House’s logo is adapted from a quilt pattern called the log cabin. During the Civil War these quilts were used to represent safe houses in the Underground Rail-road. Maryville University Interior Design students adapted this concept of a quilt pattern with a ‘crazy quilt’ motif as the idea of sex trafficking in St. Louis seemed to fit this theme. Beautiful fabric samples in different color palates and textures were cut and reused to shape the wall hangings.

#42 – Martha Mahon Geisha 26” x 20” Minimum bid $100 I grew up in Southern Indiana and came to St. Louis to study Fashion Design at Washington University’s School of Fine Arts. After years of being involved in the fiber movement I earned an MFA in Fiber Art and Independent Sculptural Studies from University of Georgia in the late 1980’s. I have done a large body of work in fiber and other media sculpture as well as pastel drawings. Currently I am experimenting and expressing my vision in acrylic painting on canvas. I have exhibited wearable art, sculpture, fiber art and pastel drawings in St. Louis and nationally over a span of thirty years. I have had one international showing in Ireland #43 - Captain Mike Gondro Untitled 12 ½ “ Minimum bid - $30 Mike is a tugboat captain that resides in Waterloo, IL

#44 - Nancy Spence [email protected] Earth Song – Tree Spirit – stained and painted earthenware clay 13 ½ “ Minimum bid - $40 Most indigenous tribal cultures believe that language is not a unique human possession. Every bird, every tree, every rock face and bend in the gushing stream carries the power of meaningful speech. It's not we who speak - it's the earth that speaks through us. I find this very interesting because trees and nature have always been a special part of my life and artwork. By creating Tree Spirits like "Earth Song" I hope to remind myself and others to move slower and to live in the moment, for you may never know who or what may be trying to speak to you. #45 - Yael Shomroni - www.facebook.com/YaelShomroniPottery Untitled 8 “ Minimum bid - $40

#38 - Annette Rau [email protected] Untitled 9 ½” x 9 ½” Minimum bid - $15 Annette has been an art teacher at Waterloo Junior High School for the past 13 years

#39 - Arny Nadler [email protected] Untitled – concrete 55” x 10” Minimum bid - $1000 At the heart of my activity as a sculptor is a fascination with form. Feats of engineering, both utilitarian and evolutionary, have always appealed to me. I am fascinated watching a canti-lever bridge slowly rise, pause, and lower gently back down over the river in my home town of Chicago. I am equally awed by the intricacy of organic structures—a wasp's nest, a brain coral, the exoskeleton of a crustacean. The efficiency, purposefulness and specificity of de-sign of both the built and organic environment converge in my work. This confluence of influences has led to sculptures made of steel and, recently, cement, with a multitude of associations. Arny is an Associate Professor of Art at the Sam Fox School of Design and Vis-ual Arts, Washington University in St. Louis.

#40 - Vintage Edison by Jim Ligon www.vintageedison.com Untitled 10” x 13” Minimum bid - $100 Locally crafted using recycled wine and liquor boxes and bottles from Kansas City's own JJ's Restaurant on the Country Club Plaza, bartender and illumination artist Jim Ligon creates stylishly functional, chic lighting and home decor for Vintage Edison. During your next visit to the Crossroads District, stop into the Cellar Rat and Uncle Bill's Gal-lery to view unique Vintage Edison pieces on exhibit or contact Jim Ligon directly at 816-686-3571 for purchase, custom design, or installation inquiries.

#41 - Mandy O’Rourke www.amandaorourke.com Untitled 28” x 60” Minimum bid - $50 Brown lunch bags, simple string, and tissue paper. Trivial items we encounter on an average day with no thought. But when put into the loving hands of one who cares, the mundane and boring can become something captivating—something of value. Just as compressed tree pulp can be transformed into a feminine floral display, so too can our lives become something beautiful when put into the hands of the Master Craftsman. Despite the imper-fections of a few wrinkles, this artwork can inspire countless admirers simply because it was delicately molded by its creator. Amanda O'Rourke is a photo & environment stylist special-izing in staging spaces creatively, with both function and aesthetic appeal. You can see more of her work on amandaorourke.com or find wonderfully crafty projects on her blog, joyev-erafter.com.

#34 - Kim Wardenberg [email protected] "An Attempt to Repair the Breach (Hands)" – woodcut on handmade paper 41” x 31” Minimum bid - $150 Kim Wardenburg grew up in Columbia, Missouri. She earned her BFA in Printmaking/Drawing from Washington University in St. Louis in 2010, where she now works full time as an undergraduate admissions counselor for the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts. The relevance of covenant in human bonds is a dominant theme in her artwork. With a multi-disciplinary practice rooted in printmaking, she considers what it means to break, partake, commune, and reconcile within political, communal, or familial relational frameworks. Kim Wardenburg's selection of media includes performance (making edible prints on flatbread and tortillas to be consumed by onlookers); varied applications of traditional and experi-mental printmaking; artist books; sculpture; and installation.

#36 - Lavar Munroe www.lavar-munroe.com [email protected] Venison - Mixed Media and 24k gold leaf on cut paper 30” x 36” Minimum bid - $800 My work is an examination of human existence; past, present and future. It examines beliefs and practices, both religious and secular, which have survived from generation to genera-tion. It also questions how life is valued in a society, be it one’s own life or the life of an-other. My work seeks to reveal life in its many complexities. Through the use of metaphoric symbolism and iconography within each piece, I use images to communicate layered mes-sages. Besides my subconscious, I draw inspiration from literature, fables and images of old. My researches, ideas, ideologies and subconscious have fostered my work towards the art-istry of life, survival, religion, death and the afterlife in a contemporary world.

# 37 - Adam Long www.adamlongsculpture.com Technological Advances Base – 30” x 24” Minimum bid - $500 Mankind tends to view himself as separated from and above his environment. My work is ultimately about humanity and explores mans connection to nature, his place in it and how man seeks to explore and understand his environment. The sculptures examine what it means to be human and bring nature back to man by using natural and man-made found objects. We are not apart from nature, but a part of it. Adam is a professional sculptor in St. Charles, Missouri.

#4 - Bernie Hasselbring [email protected] Out of Egypt 3 – 16” x 16” panels Minimum bid - $300 My work is often symbolic, holding some deeper mystery to be solved, sometimes a hidden life story. I work in many sizes. On larger scales I favor gesturing and a mark making style. A piece turns out well if it represents my energy and spirit at the time. Red hues are my favor-ite because they demand attention, create excitement and tension. Favorite mediums: oil for its ability to create texture, acrylic for its speed and acceptance of mixed media.

#6 - Dan Jaboor [email protected] Untitled 36” x 24” Minimum bid - $275 Dan Jaboor remembers being told, as a student in elementary school, that the Spanish mis-sions that dot the California coast were intended to be about a day's ride from one another on horseback. A pilgrim could make a safe journey over a great distance, by simply advanc-ing from mission to mission, one day at a time. "That's my goal as an artist, now--" he says, "finding and embarking on the next mission. There's always another journey, another

years of photographing Mardi Gras in New Orleans and Carnival in Italy, to figure studies, digital works, a portfolio of work in and around Memphis and Graceland, a new portfolio on the landscape of the beach, urban landscapes of Italy and Western Europe and a portfolio of night photography from Italy. My newest work is a 5 year study of post Katrina New Or-leans.

#30 - Thomas Rollins Photographer www.thomasrollinsphotography.com Evening at the Arch – image made in Arches National Park after hiking through 18” of snow 28” x 36” Minimum bid - $225 "There are two ways to live our lives. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other as though everything is a miracle." Albert Einstein. The art of photography gives me the ability to capture some of those beautiful miracles and to share them with others. I have been doing this for over 30 years as a photographer who has worked in the areas of commercial, travel, fine art, teaching and many fields that defy a category. The work has taken me to all seven continents, reaching from the Arctic to the plains of Mongolia. While I enjoy the commercial success of my photography, my greatest reward is when I work with environmental, humanitarian, educational, religious and military organizations. There I get to see my work, "make a difference." After these many years, I believe I understand my piece of fabric which makes up this wonderful tapestry we call life on this earth. May we each share out talents to help others and to make this earth a better place.

The challenge of learning some-thing different and new, thrills me. Though one day I may settle on one subject, for now, I am enjoying the variety. The one constant in all my artwork, is the bold contrasting color and attention to detail. I want my artwork to inspire, and bring a smile to whomever should look upon it.

#10 - Laura Oberkfell [email protected] www.lauranealart.com Untitled 24” x 24” Minimum bid $200 Most of my paintings begin with a clarification of my thoughts and beliefs. Many start with certain subject matter and/or concept which end up at the surface of many layers. It is a continuous battle. The content is significant; but my response is the key. I create a bold texture using acrylic, recycled glass and polyurethane. Building several layers on a deep structure suggests depth. Layer by layer, reaction takes over and the overall composition becomes my focus.
