Why ROCKFON

ROCKFON develop integrated ceiling solutions that create safer and more favorable indoor environments. ROCKFON suspended ceilings are applied in a variety of demanding building types, such as: office, education, retail, sport and leisure, as well as healthcare sector and industrial facilities.

Thanks to the excellent properties of Rockwool stone wool ceiling tiles, there is no need to choose between safety and design. ROCKFON ceilings ensure comfort to its customers, quick and easy installation for the installers and unlimited possibilities for interior designers.

Inspiring ROCKFON ceilings

ACOUSTICS: you should not have to compromise between form and function

Room acoustics is crucial wherever sound quality plays an important role. Some hard materials such as steel and glass are common in modern design, but often at the cost of room acoustics. As ROCKFON ceilings are made of resilient stone wool, they absorb sound very well and thus, considerably shorten reverberation time and create good acoustic environments.

DESIGN: look good and feel good at the same time

The stone wool properties along with an advanced production technology make it possible to obtain high quality ceiling tiles available in a wide range of colours, modules and edge types. They create unlimited design options, much desired by architects. They inspire customized solutions determined both by needs and by the imagination of the users.

PROPERTIES: health and safety come first

ROCKFON ceiling tiles comply with A1 classification for having the best reaction to fire – this means that they are non-combustible and do not create smoke or burning droplets during a fire. As stone wool is an inorganic material, ROCKFON tiles are resistant to the development of mould, fungi and bacteria. They can withstand 100% relative humidity (RH) at a temperature of 40°C. Even over time, they remain dimensionally stable, regardless of air humidity levels or temperature fluctuations.

INSTALLATION: great results must not always require great effort

ROCKFON suspended ceilings are quick and simple to install. Thanks to their light weight, they are easy to handle and transport. They are installer friendly as they do not generate dust whilst being cut and mounted. After installation, tile surfaces can be easily cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or a wet cloth. They enable easy access to the services hidden behind the ceilings tiles such as HVAC etc.

4 Stone wool products

Basalt rock is melted into liquid lava, and then, spun into wool under a technologically patented production process. Stone wool fibres, mixed with binder and water-repellent substances, are collected in the form of wool web that is then compressed, polymerized and cooled. The panels with various dimensions, modules and edges are cut from the wool web and prepared in such a way according to their intended use.

Being made from stone wool, ROCKFON products provide:- Acoustic comfort.- Fire safety.- Humidity resistance.- Dimensional stability.- Hygiene.- Quick and easy installation.- Easy maintenance.- Room aesthetics.- Unlimited design possibilities.

Mineral wool, made of natural rock material, is the basic raw material for ROCKFON products.

5Stone wool products

On 3rd November 2003, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) introduced the EN 13964 standard applicable to suspended ceilings. This standard determines the requirements and tests as well as the estimation methods for suspended ceilings used in general purpose and engineering buildings. It covers suspended ceilings sold as complete kits, as well as particular construction elements and filling plates.

The EN 13964 standard determines the requirements and parameters of products that have to or may be specified both on labels and in technical documentation. In order to provide customers with the most comprehensive information, the ROCKFON Group decided to specify many properties in accordance with the CE marking for each of our products.

All specified values were tested under the comprehensive Initial Type Testing program conducted by accredited labo ra tories in accordance with the EN 13964 standard, and our factories passed an audit performed by the BCCA notified body. Moreover, our Quality Control Department consistently check our the products on an ongoing basic so that our customers are assured of receiving products made in compliance with standards declared on CE labels.

Since October 2005, all ROCKFON ceiling tiles manufactured by our European factories are provided with the CE mark.

Moreover ROCKFON provides a Declaration of Performance (DoP) for all our CE-marked products. The DoP gives the manufacturer the opportunity to deliver the information about the essential characteristics products he wants to deliver to the market. The manufacturer, by drawing up his DoP, assumes the responsibility for the conformity of the construction product with the declared performance.

REACTION TO FIREROCKFON products have a core of stone wool. Stone wool is noncombustible with a melting point of more than 1000°C. Most of our products are rated A1, the safest Euro Class, and can act as a fire barrier providing time for safe evacuation.

SOUND ABSORPTIONROCKFON products have excellent sound absorption properties and dramatically improve the indoor acoustic climate by reducing noise levels.

SOUND INSULATIONThe ROCKFON dB range offers a high level of sound insulation – up to 44 dB – and reduces room to room sound transmission, providing confidentiality and privacy.

HUMIDITY RESISTANCEROCKFON products are dimensionally stable even at humidity levels of up to 100% relative humidity. No acclimatisation on site is necessary.

HYGIENE AND CLEANLINESSROCKFON products can be easily cleaned to maintain a healthy indoor environment. Stone wool has no nutritional value and therefore it provides no sustenance to harmful micro-organisms.

ENVIRONMENTThe majority of ROCKFON ceilings are 100% recyclable. Representative selections of ROCKFON products have been awarded the Indoor Climate Label and the Finnish Indoor Climate Label (M1).

DURABILITYThe visual appearance and performance properties of ROCKFON products can withstand even extreme climatic conditions, remain dimensionally stable and do not change with age.
