Fall 2008 ACI Educational Seminars
TROUBLESHOOTING CONCRETE CONSTRUCTIONOne-day seminar or contractors, design engineers, specifers,
government agencies, and material suppliers. This seminar will
provide attendees with solutions to problems with concrete.
The seminar will cover placing reinorcement, preventing
most cracks, making unctional construction joints, vibrating
concrete properly, detecting delaminations, and identiying
causes o deteriorating concrete. Complimentary publications
include: ACI 301, ACI 302.1R, ACI 303R, ACI 303.1, ACI 308R, ACI
309.2R, and Course Notes.
CONSTRUCTION Of CONCRETE SLaBS ON GROUNdThis one-day seminar will ocus on construction o concreteslabs as reported in ACI 302.1R, “Guide or Concrete Floor and
Slab Construction.” The purpose o the seminar is to provide
contractors and engineers with practical, useul inormation or
construction o concrete slabs on ground. Topics covered
will include desirable slab properties, concrete materials,
joints and cracks, minimizing curling, reinorcement installation,
load transer systems, achieving atness and levelness
tolerances, surace treatments, curing, and much more.

CHaNGES IN 318-08 BUILdING COdEOne-day seminar or engineers, architects, specifers, building ofcials, and others involved with structural concrete.
Cosponsored by PCA, this intensive seminar will guide you
step-by-step through the signifcant changes in the 2008
edition o the ACI 318 Building Code Requirements or
Structural Concrete. Instructors will explain each change,
why it was made, and what it means to you as a designer
and specifer o structural concrete. A portion o the day
will be set aside to discuss Appendix D, Anchoring to
Concrete. Examples will be presented to illustrate
applications o the new Code provisions. Complimentary
publications include: ACI 318-08, PCA Notes on 318, and
seminar lecture notes.
SEISmIC dESIGN Of LIqUId-CONTaININGCONCRETE STRUCTURESOne-day seminar, based on the ACI 350.3-06 Code , or designers,engineers, and academia. At this intensive seminar, you
will increase your design efciency and learn to avoid
common design errors. Instructors will illustrate the
practical applications o the recently adopted provisions
or seismic design o liquid-containing structures by working
through extensive design examples. Complimentary
publications include: ACI 350.3-06 and Course Notes.
CONTINUING EdUCaTION CREdIT Seminar attendees will receive 0.75 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), worth 7.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs). Professional Engineers can convert
CEUs to PDHs to fulfill their continuing education requirements. ACI is a Registered Provider with the American Institute of Architects and several state
