Achilles Joint Qualification System
• Initiated by the Norwegian Departement of Oil and Energy (Olje & energidepartementet) towards Hydro, Statoil, BP og Shell
• The start from 1990 was that some activities regarding suppliers could be done jointly between the operators.
It was to establish a more cost effective system accross operators.
Make room for estableshment of cross company networks.
Suppliers would have one point of contact to qualify for the industry.
What is Achilles Joint Qualification System ?
• The system is developed to cover most procurement needs within the user companies.
• It is the users' objective to establish the majority of tender lists based on this qualification system.
• = Effective use of own resource and standardised pre-qualification procedures in a defined market

The Achilles JQS Steering Committee
• The operation of the Achilles JQS is led by a Steering Committee comprising representatives from each oil company and main contractor.
• The chairman of the Steering Committee is presently Mr Anders Haugen, Procurement Manager, ENI Norge AS. The secretariat function is held by Achilles Information Centre.
• The Steering Committee is Achilles JQS` board, meet every three months and decide on issues related to information content, pricing etc.
• Changes in the pre-qualification process are introduced only upon approval of the Achilles Joint Qualification System Steering Committee

Supplier Requirements
To achieve qualification the supplier must:
• Implement a documented quality system in accordance with the international ISO standard (Third-party certification is not mandatory).
• perform sales in his own name
• be up-to-date with payments of imposed taxes and fees
• adhere to the legal requirements with regard to the submittal of last year's Annual Report, and account to
the appropriate authorities.

Be free from debt-settlement proceedings or in any other respect be placed under public administration.
Up-to-date information on products/services offered in references from past supplies.
Submittal of Certificate of Incorporation.
Submit full application for qualification i.e. Achilles online questionnaire and supporting documentation.
Information provided through the online questionnaire, is based on self assessment and its correctness is confirmed in writing by the company CEO.
