Achievements and
Celebrations Spring Half Term
Here are Ethan and Blanka making
the facial expressions of the
cartoons that they have drawn!
The children in Chestnut class
have enjoyed designing, making
and flying their own kites.
Children in Oak and
Ash enjoyed
listening to the story
of the Gingerbread
man and then
making (and eating)
their own little
gingerbread men.
Children in Holly and
Sycamore have been
learning to play board
games that require a
dice. Lots of children can
roll a dice and say the
number without having
to count the spots!
We have
welcomed 20
new children to
our Nursery
since Christmas
and are pleased
to report that
they have all
settled well
and are
making new
friends.
Lily has been making numbers
in different ways and writing
the corresponding calculations.
Well done!

Year 1 have been learning to add two
numbers together by counting on -
putting the largest number in their head
and counting on the smallest number.
Here is Kian showing us how it is done!
These children in 1BH have been busy making their
own puppets to tell stories in the book area. We
always encourage the children to use their
imagination and this is a perfect example of this in
practice. Telling stories with puppets is a fantastic way
of generating ideas and creating new storylines to
later write about. The adults in 1BH have been
impressed with the stories that the children have been
writing over the last few weeks and can't wait for the
next chapters to be written!
These super speedy children in 2MG just love
running and regularly run 8 laps (one mile) in
10 minutes.
2EG have been really
enjoying their Library time
this term. They have been
sharing books and making
the most of our fantastic
library.

4BM loved carrying out a scientific experiment where they were able to see condensation
happening as ice cubes were placed over warm water.
3CS have had a real focus on teamwork this half
term. They have taken part in activities and
challenges to help them to improve their skills.
Some children have made real progress in this
area. Well done 3CS!
3P have been
working on
their balance
and
coordination
in PE this half
term and have
enjoyed all
their
challenges.
The Jam ballista (by Oscar - 4M)
When the bread is put into the toaster, a
red button needs to be pressed. The
button is synchronised (in time with) the
toaster. As the button is pressed, the
spoon is dunked into the jam. This spoon
is attached to a spring which holds it in
place. As soon as the button is pressed
again, the spring relaxes making the
spoon fly up and the jam is flung into the
air. The jam should hit the toast. The
force causes the toast with the jam on to
fly through the air and land on the user's
plate.
Warning! If the jam is flung without the
button being pressed, the user's face will
be covered in jam.
Brooke and Paige got
1st and 2nd place in
the Killerton cross
country run.
Well done girls!

6K really enjoyed mummifying oranges as part of
their topic on Ancient Egypt. It was a very sticky
business!
6S enjoyed their visit to the Life Exhibition which was facilitated by the ICE team. The
exhibition was really interactive and helped children to learn more about the life and
teachings of Jesus.
Here we have Lily and Ella
who are both very proud of
their work from this half
term. Lily’s writing is
wonderful and her
language choices are
certainly helped by the
amount she reads! Ella has
mastered converting and
ordering fractions by
finding common
denominators! Well done
girls –keep it up! Here we have Jack and his little sister Lily who
are the first children in the federation to run 25
miles as part of our golden mile challenge. It
must ‘run’ in the family! Great work you two.
