In Art year 12’s have been researching into different artists for
inspiration. Sarah Taylor’s personal investigation theme is
‘Memories’ she has been studying the techniques of artist Julie
Marie and has produced some excellent examples using the same
technique.
Maths students have been working on
Quantities and Units. Here you can see
that Lucy Plappert has been working
very hard and achieved 100% in her
workings and solutions. Well done!

Year 12 Sociology students
have been undertaking self-
assessment of a 30 mark
question they wrote on how
social class affects educational
achievement.
This week the year 12 Psychology
students have been doing revision
for the different psychological
approaches
This week saw year 12 Business Studies students complete a
research project on entrepreneurial characteristics and their
response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Economics Students were invited to attend Economics
seminars which are ongoing through the month of May to help
prepare for University studies.
The Photography students have been experimenting this week,
using art and digital techniques to create mesmerising images that
are not only fascinating, but they seem to have hypnotic powers
by creating a sense of calm and relaxation.
The students in Computer Science have been revisiting the
Fundamentals of Computer Organisation and Architecture:
• Internal Hardware Components
• Structure and Role of the processor and its components
• Interrupts and Factors affecting processor performance
• External Hardware Devices
In History this week students have been finishing off the USA
topic by covering Civil Rights in the early 1950s. Next week
revision!
The class in Geography has been working on building a London
Docklands case study for their Changing Places module. They will
be comparing how Southend and London Docklands have
changed overtime and investigating how the regeneration has
affected the character and demographics of these contrasting
areas.

ACHIEVEMENT TEACHER NOMIATIONS Mr Hagger - History – Farouk Hamdan – for
working well into the night.
Mrs Smith – Art – Sarah Taylor - she has produced
great work, all the work on the year 12 art page is
hers.
Mrs Rayment – Photography - Lucy Plappert - for
understanding the tasks set and producing some
great experimemtations this week using art and
digital techniques!
Mrs Reeve– Business – Elana Ginger – Elana’s work
was shortlisted for the social distancing marketing
competition so well done to her. Andzelika Kramarz
- she has completed outstanding work on our
research project on Entrepreneurial characteristics
and their response to the Covid 19 pandemic.
Mr Rooza - Farouk Hamdan
Mr Bukwirwa and Mr Raza - Maths - Lucy Plapper
- for consistently working hard and having a positive
attitude to learning. Resulting in achieving 71% on
her Stats Assessment. Abdifitaah Hossein – for
coming 2nd in the Stats Assessment, working hard
in Mechanics: SI Units and in the Correlation Stats.
Mrs Patmore – Sociology & Psychology – Emily
Millis, for trying hard with her sociology essay.
For psychology, Shivona Chellakootty for getting
up to date with everything and producing some
really excellent exam answers.

ENRICHMENT
STUDENT NOMINATIONS:
The yr12 students were asked to nominate a teacher that they
felt has been supportive and helping them:
Bethany Stott - Mr Andrews for being extremely
understanding and going absolutely above and beyond to
teach us.
Georgia Murray - Mr Hagger for providing podcasts every
lesson to provide additional information for our topic
alongside the textbook.
Joe Gardner – Mr Heafield
Isabelle Thorn - Mr Andrews for the fact he is making sure we
get taught as best as we can through all this and for helping
us all keep a positive mindset
Lucy Plappert - Mrs Reeves and Mr Raza for always being on
hand to give us extra support that we need.
Thank you to all the sixth form teachers for their continued
work hard, help, support and engagment!
