Have you seen ACE on the Travel Channel this year? We are featured as North America’s Largest Adventure Resort on “Extreme Resorts”. ACE encompasses 1,500 acres of Wild and Wonderful wilderness. Perched upon the Allegheny Plateau, nestled among the ancient Appalachian Mountains in the southeastern corner of West Virginia, ACE territory offers nearly 30 miles of trails, private river access and its own creeks, lakes and ponds.

And if that isn’t enough, our backyard is nearly 75,000 acres of National Park Service territory in the New River Gorge. Sometimes, a trip with family or a group of friends can be a compromise – not everyone has the same definition of “vacation” or ”fun.” But that’s what makes ACE Adventure Resort so special: With everything we have to offer, every person can find his or her ideal getaway. The question isn’t “What is there to do at ACE?” The question is, “How much fun do you want to have?”

Join us at ACE, and we’ll help you explore every inch of it through classic outdoor activities such as whitewater rafting, mountain biking and rock climbing. We offer guided fishing trips, flat-water kayak touring on Summersville Lake and whitewater kayak instruction. ACE has its own stable for horseback rides and can even organize outings for bird-watching enthusiasts.

We add new activities and amenities every year, based on your feedback: zip-line canopy tours, disc golf and paintball are but a few examples. You can also come to ACE to relax in the comfort of your cabin’s private hot tub or work on your tan at the sandy beach bordering the ACE Lake. Our goal is that once you park your car at ACE, you won’t have to drive it again until it’s time to go home.

From adrenaline-extreme to relaxation-serene, for young and for old, ACE has something to suit everyone’s ideal vacation. So whether it’s for the thrills and fun or just catching up with friends and family, we hope to hear you say that your time at ACE was everything you dreamed it could be.

We’re looking forward to your visit.

a world of adventure in one place™

“It was 16 years ago when my husband and I came to ACE. We both had such a good time. When we were planning our 15-year anniversary this year, I wanted us to have an adventure with excitement. ACE was the first place I thought of. That says a lot. You have really improved on a good thing, and I’m proud of your hard work and dedication. Thanks for the memories – we look forward to making more.”

it’s your vacation...With 1,500 acres filled with activities to suit almost any taste, ACE Adventure Resort is designed to let you build your own vacation. Let the members of your group tailor-make their outdoor experience based on their definition of “a great time.” Treat it like a recipe, and we’ll cook you up the perfect concoction. Tell us you want a gallon of whitewater. Tell us you want a pound of peace and quiet. Tell us you want dashes of revving engines and hearts pounding. Tell us to hold the long lines and hidden charges. Don’t keep it a secret: What’s the icing we can put on your cake?

“I felt compelled to write so I could let you know what a great time ACE provided to my children and me. All our guides made it the vacation of a lifetime. My 12-year-old daughter was unsure of the trip, and our guide assured her that it would be fine and he would look out for her. He stayed true to his word, and within the first hour, she had calmed down and completely enjoyed the rest of the trip. She as well as my sons are already bugging me about coming back next year.”

young families (with kids 6-8 years old)What a perfect age to introduce children to the great American outdoors. Make memories that forge a lifetime connection while building your kids’ independence and confidence, and developing life skills such as swimming and teamwork. And you don’t even have to tell them that fun stuff like river rafting and horseback rides can actually be educational!

Be sure to check out the inflatable jungle gym at the ACE Lake: www.AceRaft.com/adventure-play-park

tweens & teens (as young as 12 years old)Now’s the time to put a paddle in their hands. The mom and dad who aren’t “hip” at home can become the “cool” parents who take their kids on adventure vacations. It’s up to you to determine whether it’s quality time spent on an overnight rafting trip, or if the family battles spill onto one of ACE’s 5 paintball courses. Book an adventure vacation now, and get them hooked on nature and outdoor sports as they mature into young adults.

Tell your teens to get a vacation preview at ACE’s YouTube channel: www.YouTube.com/user/aceadventurevideo/

adults (you’re never too old)You need a vacation, and you know it. We at ACE know our job is to help you make it happen and make it exactly the getaway you need. So, if that’s a romantic vacation with your better half, get online and book a weekend special for two. If it’s a class reunion, email us some details and we’ll help you pull it all together. Company retreats, church groups — even your bachelorette party — just give us a call and we can engineer the fun and comfort to meet your needs.

new for 2010Change is a good thing, especially when it comes to new activities at ACE Adventure Resort. We are always looking for the next big adventure that will take our guests to new heights and exciting places. In fact, we were just featured on the Travel Channel as North America’s Largest Adventure Resort, and we’re no where near filling up the one thousand five hundred acres we call Wonderland. So if you thought we’d run out of ways to combine humans, gravity, mother nature and modes of transportation, well, we hope you’ll be pleasantly surprised by our most recent innovations in fun.

zip-line canopy tour - expansion COMING SPRING 2010

Zipping through the tree-tops suspended by harness and cable is all the rage. And with customer demand at an all-time high, we’re adding more lines to the ACE Canopy Tour making it twice as long (and twice as fun, if you ask us). Your new flight path will soar 100 feet above the forest floor and reach speeds up to 35 miles per hour – zipping you longer, further and faster than ever before. For more details, visit: www.AceRaft.com/Canopy-Tours-West-Virginia.html

mountain globing ROLLING RIGHT ALONG Welcome to the ACE-mosphere - a new dimension on earth where those with enough curiosity for the far-out and unimaginable can explore ACE’s grassy slopes inside a big, bouncing ball. OK, it may feel more like the world of a hamster instead of the lunar module, but this is your chance for something truly unique. Visualize yourself inside an 11-foot clear inflated globe. You can ride with a friend or roll solo. We promise it will make your “what I did on my summer vacation” stories truly extraordinary. See more details at: www.AceRaft.com/Mountain-Globing.html

disc golf course IN THE WORKS We turned the woods surrounding our Mountain Top Campground into a disc golf course. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s just golf played with Frisbees™ and baskets. Each of these holes is 180 to 250 feet long and has a set par score. Anyone who’s ever cursed a slicing drive, buried himself in a sand trap or thought golf takes too long to learn or play should give disc golf a try: www.AceRaft.com/Disc-Golf.html

bridge walk COMING SPRING 2010 For more than 30 years, the New River Gorge Bridge has been a world-famous icon of engineering. This year, West Virginia visitors will be able to tour the underbelly of the bridge that adorns the state quarter. A thrilling 850 feet above the surface of the new river, guests can stroll the catwalk that runs the full 3,030 feet below the bridge. Read about it on the ACE Blog at: www.AceRaft.com/View-by-Tag/BridgeWalk/

“We thoroughly enjoyed the Waterpark. The zip-line was my favorite, though the slide and inflatables were great fun, too. My younger daughter especially enjoyed doing the paddle boats and kayaking with older family members. My son enjoyed the chess. We were impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the beach area.

Your commitment to excellence at ACE makes it a wonderful place. We hope to return.”

Due to maintenance requirements, all lake toys may not be available at all times. Also note, the Lake Attendant is not a lifeguard. You will be swimming at your own risk. A personal flotation device (PFD) is required when using the lake and is included with your lake pass. Canoes and duckies, volleyball, tetherball, ping-pong, fishing and hiking/biking trails. There is a minimum of one tower attendant on duty when the tower is open for the zip-line and waterslide.

Jump in! Get into the swing as you launch yourself from the 40’ zip-line or make a splash on the Wet Willie™ waterslide. ACE’s colossal, inflatable water toys turn ordinary swimming into laughter-packed afternoons!

Lounge on the sandy white beach, ideal for making sand castles or soaking up the sun.

Take in a mini-voyage paddling an inflatable duckie along the quiet shoreline. Maybe snag a trophy bass at one of ACE’s catch-and-release fishing holes - no fee or license required.

Kings and bishops, knights and queens — are you the grandmaster type? Don’t miss the chance to take up the challenge on ACE’s king-sized, outdoor chess board!

Take center stage in a pick-up game of volleyball, ping-pong or tetherball with old friends and new.

Explore the miles of hiking and biking trails on ACE’s 1,500-acre resort connected to the parklands of the New River Gorge National River. Join the party with live music, summer events, contests and daily viewings of whitewater videos under the Big Top Tent.

New for 2010 – ACE’s lake is filled with more giant water toys than you could possibly imagine that will make a BIG SPLASH with family and friends. www.AceRaft.com/adventure-play-park

beginner-friendly class i-iii+ rapidsVenture down the Upper New River Gorge. It’s a magical experience for all ages with easy, beginner-friendly rapids, deep-water pools for fun and games, and an enchanted canyon more than 1,000 feet deep. A professional guide in every raft fills the day with stories of local history and lore, river antics, and good times for all. A delicious grilled riverside lunch is included on this full-day rafting adventure.

Try a one or two-person ducky (inflatable kayak) to step up the excitement. Rafters and duckiers can switch throughout the day.

exciting-classic class ii-iv+ rapidsLooking for a stable ride but still want roller-coaster rapid fun and unmatched canyon scenery? Try the Lower New River Gorge in a 16’/8+ person raft. This larger boat size provides a milder experience by minimizing impact and giving you a better chance of staying “high and dry” all day long.

For those who prefer the river less traveled, jump on the Summer Gauley Intermediate (min. age: 13). Depending on water level, we take rafts and/or funyaks (inflatable kayaks) to maneuver the many slots, drops and rapids of this remote canyon.

high-adventure class iii-v rapidsSeveral decades ago, ACE pioneered a smaller, more agile raft to “pump up the fun volume.” The 14-footer and all its maneuverability quickly became the raft of choice!

The Lower New River Gorge in a 14’/6+ person raft will have your adrenaline pumping. Brace yourself for tumbling waves, crashing surf and the majesty of America’s oldest river canyon - it’s the best spring and summer rafting in the east.

Looking for even more? The Lower Gauley (min. age: 12) during fall dam release is jam-packed with rapids, steep drops and endless wave-trains. It’s our most challenging trip for first-timers.

world-class class iv-v+ rapidsWhen the world around is preparing for the chill of autumn, ACE is “cranking up the heat” in time for Fall Gauley Season. Powerful, relentless whitewater ranks the Fall Upper Gauley as world-class and is the benchmark by which other runs are measured. From our veteran guides to our exclusive Sweet’s Falls lunch site, ACE offers the best Upper Gauley trip around! But don’t stop there… catch the Summer Gauley Advanced trip. Using super small rafts and funyaks (inflatable kayaks) to navigate this tight, technical river channel, it’s perfect for those on a whitewater quest.

Nowhere else in America will you find the diversity in river experience options… trips safe and fun for those as young as 6 or a ride so wild it takes your breath away. Here in ACE’s own backyard, you will find the 52-mile New River Gorge National River section and the 26-mile Gauley River, both world-class whitewater rivers. From beginner-friendly, class II-III waters of the Upper New to the world-class power of the Upper Gauley, there’s a rafting adventure to suit just about everyone.

“Our trip leader and our boat guide were OUTSTANDING! I always like to raft in West Virginia because of the safety factor. These leaders were both professional and fun. “It was so really nice to be able to experience such power and mystery within a safety net of knowledge, respect and teamwork, and I think a successful experience like “the Gauley” really indicates that your guides have a deep understanding of the river, inherent kindness, and a thorough knowledge of technical aspects of navigation. I had so much fun!!” Sara C. d Clendenin, WV

summer riverside overniGhtsBusy schedules, family, work and other commitments can fill every moment of every day. On an overnight adventure with ACE, we just want you to discover the fun and giddy side of, well, you, and let time hang out on the back burner for a change. On this road less traveled, you’ll discover the you who laughs at getting splashed with water, and the you who will roast “just one more” marshmallow around the campfire. Remember the you who stays up late, staring at a night sky full of stars? Or the part of you who’s happy spending an afternoon skipping rocks at the river’s edge? We found a few days “away from it all” is just the ticket. So join us this summer so we can reintroduce you to that kid inside of “you”.

“Rafting was fabulous! We had a great time. My husband has been on Class 5’s before so I was worried he might be bored on the Upper New I booked with our kids, but we all had a great time. We used duckies and they were so much fun. Without a doubt, we’ll be back. In fact, we are planning to bring our extended family and their children next time. Get ready---we plan to make this a regular trip.”

fall gauley riverside overniGhtsA lot of rafting companies want to sell you products. At ACE Adventure Resort, we want to create an experience just for you. Not just another tour or video to stack on the shelf. You’ll shout for joy and holler for fun. You’ll breathe deeply and feel that foot-loose, who-cares-what-I-wear relaxation that comes from a fully-lived day outdoors.

That’s where an overnight in the deep wilderness canyon of the Gauley comes in. It’ll be a new you looking back on this journey, thumbing through the photo album or pointing to the picture frame on the mantle, telling the story of your big adventure on the Gauley. And it all started innocently with, “I heard about this world-class river, and it’s right in our own back yard!”

“The guides on the overnight trip were amazing! Their knowledge and expertise of the river really made for an unforgettable experience! The food and overnight site were fantastic! My friend and I give your company an A+ for the experience we had - I’ll be making this an annual trip with your company! Can’t wait to see you next year! Thank you again for an amazing weekend!”

bridge walk, zip-line & climbinG adventuresLooking for a way to capture a bird’s eye view of the New River Gorge? Depending on your tolerance for open spaces, wind-in-your-hair speed and very high places, there are lots of ways at ACE to get that “WOW” feeling of the world beneath your feet.

New for 2010, try balancing on a 2-foot catwalk with the river 850 feet below your sneakers on the New River Gorge Bridge Walk Tour. Or how about soaring above the skyline from one tree platform to the next on ACE’s private Zip-Line Canopy Tour? Say you want something more challenging? Try scaling towering rock walls and rappelling down cliff faces that were carved by the New River 1,000 feet below.

Whether you choose to take a stroll under the New River Gorge Bridge, climb your way to the top for a breathtaking view or zip through the forest suspended by cables, you’ll be soaring to new heights with ACE.

“The rappelling and rock climbing trip was equally as much fun “as the rafting”. The kids all really liked the guides. They took extra time to spend with my 9-year old son who was very frightened of the height of the rappel. Even though he didn’t complete the rappel, our guide calmed him down and really made him feel like it was ok. We all had a blast!”

With ACE, you’ll find no better guide to find secluded inlets along a mountain lake shoreline or the perfect surfing waves found in the deep-water canyons of the New and Gauley rivers. After all, Southern West Virginia is known as Kayak Country and ACE has the inside scoop!

With our guided quiet-water tours and whitewater instruction courses, we’ll take you to special places of preserved beauty and vibrant natural wonder. And along the way, you’ll learn the paddling techniques and boat control to maneuver these waterways with the confidence to strike out on your own someday.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you for such a fantastic weekend. The mountains are beautiful this time of year, the weather was PERFECT, and the water was just right for a beginning kayaker such as myself. Our guide really made the trip for me. His knowledge of the craft combined with his understanding and ability to read people made all the difference in the world.”

team eventsACE’s Adventure-Based Teambuilding program is an exciting, creative and fun way to enhance your group’s motivation and camaraderie through shared experiences. All of our programs can be adapted as necessary to meet your group’s needs and goals - to offer appropriate opportunities for learning, personal growth and positive change.

Activities are based on individual skill levels, physical abilities and psychological or emotional readiness. We follow a philosophy of “challenge by choice” that empowers participants to set personal goals and allows them to build upon their own comfort zones. As facilitators, we hope that every time a participant tries an activity, they will take one step further, eventually completing the activity in its entirety. It is this commitment to each and every individual of your group that has distinguished our programs from other similar efforts.

“On the mud obstacle course, it didn’t matter how good you were at completing each obstacle -- it was how well your team could do. It definitely taught us to strategize and to help each other out. Our group was pleasantly surprised at how much fun it was. They were a little hesitant at first but once they got going ,they really enjoyed it.”

This event is all about teamwork, communication and getting to the finish-line together.

America’s largest adventure resortWhen we started ACE 30 years ago, we thought we had it all figured out – the perfect adventure vacation. We learned a lot over the last three decades, and we discovered that listening to YOU has taught US what the perfect vacation really is. It’s paid off for everyone!

With 1,500 acres bordering the parklands of the New River Gorge National River and year-round activities to suit almost any taste, we’ve grown to become the largest outdoor adventure resort in North America.

But the fun doesn’t stop there – we have lots of new adventures planned for 2010. Check it out – Zip-line Canopy Tour expansion, a brand new catwalk tour under the New River Gorge Bridge, Disc Golf Course and “Mountain Globing” on ACE’s northern slopes!
