Baldwin–Wallace CollegeHearing Preparation Checklist

The following is a summary of the steps you should take to be prepared for a judicial hearing.

1. Review the judicial procedures in the Student Handbook, available on line atwww.bw.edu!stulife!handbook.

". #ou have the right to have one advisor present at the hearing. $lease submit the name of your advisor tothe %irector of &udicial 'ffairs at least one (1) business day prior to your hearing date. #our advisormust be a person employed or enrolled at *aldwin+ allace -ollege. The advisor cannot be anattorney. The advisor is not permitted to speak or to participate directly in the hearing. The advisorcannot be a witness.

0. Review the charge letter and familiari e yourself with the referenced sections from the -ode of Student-onduct.

2. -ontact as soon as possible any witnesses you plan to have speak on your behalf.

a. 3t is your responsibility to inform your witnesses of the date, timeand location of the hearing.

b. #ou must forward the names of your witnesses to the %irector of&udicial 'ffairs no later than one (1) working day prior to thehearing.

c. #ou should prepare your witnesses for the hearing. 4ach witnesswill be asked5

1. to make a statement about their knowledge of the incident

". to answer 6uestions from the hearing council and the accuser

. to wait in a designated area until the chair of the hearingcouncil indicates the hearing has been closed. itnessesmay be called back to repeat portions of their account or to

respond to new 6uestions of the hearing council prior to thehearing being closed.

7. Review the list of potential hearing panel members. 3nform the %irector of &udicial 'ffairs of the name(s)of any person(s) who you feel may have a conflict of interest in the case.

8. 'rrive at the hearing location 19 to 12 minutes prior to the beginning of the hearing. 3f you do not appear for the hearing, the -ouncil will proceed in your absence.
