Since 2012 in the study program of Doctoral School of the Nicolae Testemitanu State

University of Medicine and Pharmacy are included research methodology, biostatistics and

evidence-based medicine.

In order to improve research projects presented by PhD, postdoctoral and scientific

researchers, the Research Ethics Committee of the SUMPh offers consultations for the

correct formulation of the purpose of study, objectives, calculation of study groups, outlining

inclusion and exclusion criteria for research, recommend statistical methods of analysis etc.

These consultations are carried out with the presence of the scientific supervisor and the

doctoral student/ postdoctoral student.

In the context of the training of the teaching staff in the research methodology, which

represents one of the indicators of Quality Management in 2017 within the framework of

the partnership with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy „Gr. T. Popa” from Iasi,

Romania at the proposal of Mrs. Prof. Doina Azoicăi and the approval of the SUMPh Mr. prof.,

academician Ion Ababii was initiated the procedure for establishing the Clinical

Epidemiology Units in order to provide support to students, teachers and researchers in the

institution.

Thus with the support of the administration, 4 training modules were developed at the

in order to create the Clinical Epidemiology Unit (UEC). During the 2018-2019, with the

support of the Network of Francophone International Clinical Epidemiology (RECIF) 18

university employees were trained (list to be attached). Professor Doina Azoicăi from

University of Medicine and Pharmacy UMF „Gr. T. Popa”, Iasi, Romania, was appointed

Responsible for the training seminars with support of teachers from partner institutions in

Romania and France.

The first training module was held on June 24-29, 2018 and was supported by Mrs.

Azoicai Doina, university professor, University of Medicine and Pharmacy „Gr. T. Popa” from

Iasi, Romania. The purpose of this module was to present the basic elements regarding the

types of study, the research protocol, aspects related to the descriptive and analytical

statistics used in medical research, the method of critical evaluation of the medical

literature, etc.

At the second training module in period 23 to 28 September 2018, the trainers were

Mrs. Azoicăi Doina and Mr. Cristian-Rasvan Băicuș, university professor, „Carol Davila”

University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Bucharest, Romania

The third round of lectures was held on November 19-23, 2018, having as a trainer

Mrs. Azoicăi Doina and Mr. Vladimir Bacârea, university professor, University of Medicine,

Pharmacy, Science and Technology in Tirgu Mures, Romania. Were presented comparing

media and comparing multiple media, general notions on quality of life studies and validity

of various quality of life scales, linear regressions and correlations, economic studies, the

significance of "p" and systematic errors in clinical research. Practical aplication were that

participants elaborate a study protocol taking into account all the theoretical elements

presented, they performed a critical analysis of a quality of life study and compared the

multiple averages using the statistical indicators Kruskall Wallis and Mann Whitney. Were

presented linear and multiple regressions and they used the method of statistical

interpretation based on the Kaplan Mayer regression model and performed processing

through the Graph Prism program.

The training course was finished with module held between February 16-23, 2019 and

was moderated by Ms. Azoicai Doina and Mr. Pierre Duhaut, university professor, University

of Picardy "Jules Verne", France. As a result 18 teachers of State University of Medicine and

Pharmacy ”Nicolae Testemitanu” were trained.

On May 20, 2019 was the created the Clinical Epidemiology Unit according to the order

nr. 145-A of the rector in the following composition: Spinei Larisa PhDH MD, University

Professor, Hadjiu Svetlana PhDH MD, University Professor, Spinei Aurelia PhDH MD,

University Professor, Adauji Stela, PhD MD, University Professor, Arnaut Oleg PhD MD

Associate Professor, Vetrilă Snejana PhD MD, Associate Professor, Banov Pavel PhD MD,

Associate Professor.

At present, beginning of the academic year 2019-2020 the Clinical Epidemiology Unit

of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy is preparing for the

international accreditation that starts, in accordance with the requirements of RECIF.
