their strengths.

Leading Questions for the Teacher
• Pick a student that has had academic success
• Tell Me about this student.• This question will put the teacher at ease.
We are not talking about the teaching or the teaching, we are discussing the student.
• Pick another student. • Tell me about this student.
Answers to be looking for
• How well does the teacher know his/her students?
• Do they know what each student is trying to accomplish during center time?
• Do they know if the student is making progress or not?
• Can they access what is working and what is not working for each student?
What can be accomplished
• If a student is not progressing, what can we do to help this student?
• Is the child in the best setting for making progress?
• Do you leave or switch the child’s center time program?
• Let the teacher make this decision with you asking questions.
Center Time
• We gave staff development on center time– Reason for centers– Grade levels mostly create centers together– CC’s help create centers– We sent in support to help them get started
Strategies Must always be adapted
Intentional Strategies during Center Time Are High Challenging and directed towards individual students.
School
• “The Fundamental Purpose of School is Learning, Not Teaching”.
