Ten generations after Noah reached dry land, a year after the flood, God repeated His promise

to establish His covenant of eternal life (Gen 9:13-14) to Abraham to be embodied in the birth of

Isaac another year ahead (Gen 17:21). Right before Abraham’s countdown to the judgment of

Sodom and Gomorrah, God links the birth of Isaac with His “return” at the appointed time

“according to the time of life.”

And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard [it] in the tent door, which [was] behind him. ...Is any thing too hard for the LORD? According to the first verse of Genesis “23,” 37 years after Isaac’s birth, Sarah’s time of life was

at 127 years old when she was publically laid to rest in the promise land of Canaan. Shortly

A “new moon” refers to the lunar phase that is invisible to us here on Earth, because the moon is between the Earth and the sun. This means that its illuminated side is facing away from us and thus, dark to observers…But what makes this new moon special is its proximity to the winter solstice — when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted furthest from the sun — on December 21. The Sabbath Journey watch for the Lord’s return is like having lessons from the Master Teacher providing ongoing assignments in preparation for each test leading up to the final. A good student knows that he or she must keep up with the homework to be ready to pass the test. When a watch quietly passes, it’s critical to prayerfully ponder the essential message of the watch in order to know how to proceed forward. While throwing in the towel is clearly for the faithless, speculating to and fro is equivalent to the children who wandered in the wilderness without any direction.
