The three Robbins children, now grown, were all together once again Thursday as their parents celebrated their marriage day of Oct. 20. More Accomplishments and Happenings Sig Ep awards Balanced Man scholarships 10/20/16 Five Fort Hays State University students were awarded scholarships at the Tuesday, Oct. 18, Sigma Phi Epsilon Balanced Man Scholarship reception. The recipients reflect the importance of leading a balanced life. More Kansas House nominees to debate at FHSU 10/19/16 Fort Hays State University’s American Democracy Project and the Student Government Association will host a political debate between two candidates for the Kansas House of Representatives, District 111, Democrat Eber Phelps and Republican incumbent Sue Boldra, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the university’s Robbins Center. More Pulitzer Prize Winner Dr. Edward Larson launches 2016-2017 Sebelius Lecture Series 10/19/16 The lecture series named for one of Fort Hays State University's most notable alumni, former representative Keith Sebelius, will feature a November appearance by Dr. Edward Larson, who holds the Hugh and Hazel Darling Chair in Law and is University Professor of History at Pepperdine University. More Hays Symphony joins HAC, Community Theater in Halloween concert featuring Peter, wolf 10/19/16 The Hays Symphony will present the free Halloween Spooktacular Family Concert featuring the children’s classic “Peter and the Wolf” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, in Fort Hays State University’s Beach-Schmidt Performing Arts Center. More Fort Hays State to be new host of NetWork Kansas’ Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge 10/18/16 NetWork Kansas will have a new host next spring for its fourth Kansas’ Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge -- Fort Hays State University. The statewide competition will be Monday, April 24, 2017, in FHSU’s Memorial Union. More Second free hearing screening from Fort Hays State to be provided in Medicine Lodge 10/18/16 The second free hearing screening in a series of several conducted by Fort Hays State University graduate students will be performed in Medicine Lodge. The screening will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Delta Lodge No. 77, 205 N. Main. No appointment is necessary. Screenings will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. More FHSU’s McMindes Hall to host annual Halloween Safe Trick-or-Treat event 10/18/16 The Residence Hall Association at Fort Hays State University will host its annual Halloween Safe Trick-or-Treat event from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in McMindes Hall on the FHSU campus. More FHSU alumna is chosen to attend the Lindau Meeting of Nobel Laureates 10/18/16 Dr. Joan Dreiling, a Fort Hays State University graduate, will present her research at a seminar at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, in Tomanek Hall, room 106. Dreiling is a National Research Council postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Md. More Faculty members in Department of Psychology publish chapter in encyclopedia 10/17/16 A chapter written by three researchers affiliated with the Fort Hays State University Department of Psychology was recently accepted for publication in the upcoming 10 volume Encyclopedia of Evolutionary Psychological Science. More Fort Hays State allies with EDUKAN to help streamline online education in Kansas 10/17/16 Fort Hays State University has entered into a marketing alliance with EDUKAN, a consortium of six western Kansas community colleges, in providing online education to Kansas students. More FHSU Management Development Center to offer workshop on Microsoft Access 10/17/16 The Management Development Center at Fort Hays State University will offer Understanding a Basic Database: Intro to Microsoft Access this October as part of their fall workshop series.
