Reasonable Reasonable AccommodationsAccommodationsDefinition:

any change to a classroom environment or task that permits a qualified student with a disability to participate in the classroom process, to perform the essential tasks of the class, or to enjoy benefits and privileges of class participation equal to those enjoyed by students without disabilities.

A legally mandated change that addresses challenges presented by the disability and creates an equitable opportunity for task completion or environmental access.

Reasonable Reasonable AccommodationsAccommodationsAn accommodation does not

guarantee success for a student.  It does offer a level playing field for students with disabilities and allows them equal access to the course.  The level of success achieved is up to the student as it is with all students and is not determined or elevated by accommodations.

Should I be accommodating temporary Should I be accommodating temporary disabilities?disabilities?

Acute health issues or injuries require and qualify for the same accommodation request process as for students with a long term or permanent disability.

The difference is that in temporary situations, a medical professional determines an end date for the accommodation implementation

Refer the student to CDL Student Services for accommodation request
