Accessing Another User's Calendar on an iPad or iPhone

Apple's iOS mobile devices offer convenient ways to check your own calendar information, but the connection to Fairfield's Microsoft Exchange mail & calendaring service does not allow for more than one account to be accessed. There is a way to access another user's calendar, however, by downloading a free app from the iTunes Store and configuring it to view the calendar via E-Mail Web Access.

• On your iPad or iPhone, open the App Store by tapping the blue icon. Once there, enter the words Mercury Browser in the search box in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

• From the list of apps that appears, choose the free Mercury Web Browser (if you don't mind ads at the bottom of the screen) or the $.99 Mercury Web Browser Pro (the version with no ads). Install the app on your iPad or iPhone.

• Launch the newly installed app and, from the upper right-hand corner of the screen, tap the gear-like symbol. A menu will appear below it; tap Settings.

• Tap the word Functions in the left-hand column and, after tapping the Homepage: box, enter the URL in the following format, with the email address of the user substituted for [email protected]:

https://owa.fairfield.edu/owa/[email protected]/?cmd=contents&module=calendar&view=weekly

• Tap the Identify Browser as button and select Firefox 3.5; a check mark will appear next to the selection.

• You can now close the settings window by tapping Close in the left-hand corner. The next time you launch Mercury Browser, you'll be taken to the E-mail Web Access login page; when you log in with your NetID credentials, you'll the user's calendar will be visible.
