About this book
My name is Tony.
I am the boss of Ambulance Victoria.
I want to tell you about the Ambulance Victoria
Accessibility Action Plan.
Our Accessibility Action Plan says how we
will make our services better for people with
disability. We will call it the plan.
Our plan is from 2020 to 2022.
2020-2022
Page 4
About the plan
The plan is for our
● patients
– patients are people who use an
ambulance or need our care.
and
● community
and
● people who work with us.
Page 5
Our Goals
We have 4 goals.
1 To make sure patients get good services.
2 To work with groups to make our services
better for everyone.
For example
– community groups
– disability and health services.
3 To make sure people like to work for us.
4 To make sure we do our best work.
Page 6
To make sure our goals happen
1. We will make sure everyone feels part of what we do
We will work with people with disability when
we make plans and run activities.
We will make sure our staff know what they
must do to make the plan happen.
2. We will make it easier to use our services and get information
We will help people with disability to better
understand and use our services.
We will help our paramedics and staff to talk
with people in ways that work for them.
Paramedics are people trained to help
someone who might need to go to hospital
straight away.
Page 7
We will make sure places where we give
services are accessible.
For example
● offices
and
● ambulances.
Accessible means places are easy for
everyone to
● go to
and
● use.
Page 8
3. We will make it easier for people with disability to work at Ambulance Victoria
We will look at ways we can make more jobs
for people with disability.
We will make sure the places where we work
are accessible.
We will make sure
● people with disability who work for us know
how we can support them
and
● managers know how to support people with
disability who work for us.
Page 9
4. We will make sure we are fair, respectful and safe
We will train our staff to know more about
● disability
and
● accessibility.
We will make sure people with disability can
tell us what they think or make a complaint.
A complaint means you are not happy and tell
someone why.
We will work with our partners to make
ambulance services better for everyone.

How we will make the plan happen
We want the plan to work well.
We will
● start to do the work in the plan
● check the work
● change things if we need to.
Page 11
We will make a report about
● how the plan works
● what we did well
● what we can do better.
