1.0 Introduction.

1.1 The following test procedure has been prepared as a guideline for the Testing Of Access Control systems for this project.

1.2 This is to be enhanced and developed by the Contractor. Additional testing and

commissioning requirements may be proposed by the Contractor as appropriate and agreed with the Project M&E Engineer and Independent Testing and Commissioning Engineer.

1.3 This procedure will be adopted for all Access Control Equipment.

1.4 All Testing and Commissioning documentation must be presented for the

relevant Power Supplies to the Security equipment.

1.5 Schedule of equipment fitted and locations to be submitted prior to testing and to be attached to this report.

2.0 Test Instrumentation / Tools Required.

2.1 All instrumentation used for the testing of Access Control Equipment, must have up to date (with at least 6 months validity) calibration certificates that is traceable to international standards

2.2 The following test instrumentation & tools will be required to undertake the tests

detailed within this procedure: Details to be recorded on equipment record sheets at annex A.

Loop Impedance tester.

Voltage Tester/ Multimeter

3.0 Reference Standards.

The Contractor is to confirm all Local and International codes relevant to this installation.

4.0 Test Procedures.

Preparation.

Carry out the following prior to starting any testing. 4.1 Ensure all wiring is 100% complete, and that all ancillaries have been installed

correctly. 4.2 Confirm incoming cables have been tested in accordance with requirements.

4.3 The contractor shall carry out and submit test records on the testing equipment

record sheet included within the electrical test sheets. Tests to include

Insulation tests.

Loop Impedance Tests.

Cable Continuity Tests.

Electrical Resistance Tests

Visual Checks

Visual checks for physical installation against shop drawings and

‘Equipment Schedule’ spreadsheets.

Check general construction and standard of finishing are acceptable.

Check levelling and alignment are correct and acceptable

Check hinged panels with equipment mounted are properly grounded.

Check all fixings are of non-ferrous materials.

Visual Check - Incoming-outgoing Cables.

Check proper facilities have been provided for fixing of incoming/outgoing

cables.

Check adequate space has been allowed for fixing of incoming/outgoing

cables.

Check proper tightness of cable terminations has been checked.

Check proper identification has been provided for each cable.

Check unwanted openings have been sealed up.

5. Test Execution.

The contractor shall carry out and submit all test records on the ‘Testing & Commissioning Report Forms’ for all applicable equipment. Test to be conducted will include the following:

Check operation of Entry Doors.

Check operation of Electric and manual locks.

Check operation of Exit Pushbuttons.

Check operation of ’thumb lock door opening devices (BGE).

Check operation of Break glass Units (BGU).

Check operation of Power Override Switches (POS).

Check operation of audible door alarms (sounders) and or strobe lights

(ADA/ST)

Check operation of any key-switches for ADA’s and or strobes.

Check operation of any emergency exit push bars.

Check operation of any other monitored doors.

Check operation of system on standby battery power.

Check operation of locks on standby battery power.

Audible Door Alarm/Strobe Sounder/Strobe activates when door is forced open/held open (60 Sec)

Sounder/Strobe can be turned off by key

Sounder/Strobe turns off when door closes

Emergency Break-glass When break-glass is triggered:

Power for door lock is cut off

Door can be opened

When door opened alarm is triggered

System Backup Power Test door readers function when mains power is off

Lock Backup Power Test doors remain secure when mains power is disconnected
