REGULATIONS FOR PREVENTING COLLISIONS AT SEA, 1960
RESOLUTION A.83(IV; adopted on 27 Septem~er 1965
THE ASSEMBLY,
CONSIDERING that Article l(a) of th~ IMCO Convention states that one of the purposes of the Organizatinn is "to encourage the general adoption of the highest practicable standards in matters concerning maritime safety and efficiency of navigation",
TAKING NOTE of the present status of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1960, and the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1960,
DECIDES to urge States which have not yet accepted the Convention or the Regulations to take the necessary gteps for their acceptance as soo~ as possible,
INVITES the Secretary-General to convey a copy of this Resolution to those States which are members of th~ United Nations, its specialized agencies, the International Atomic Energy Agency, or which were represented at the International· Conference on Safety of Life at Sea, 1960, and which have not yet accepted the Convention or the Regulations.
